Their Love Story

There wasn’t a specific moment when David and Callie first met, as their circles overlapped, their college schedules intertwined, and they even shared several classes as undergraduates. Knowing they could rely on one another to get the work done, they often chose to partner on group projects—Callie, confident that David was always good for an A+ grade. Though they both had quiet crushes on one another, the timing never quite aligned. Over the years, they continued to cross paths, sometimes even out of town. “It always felt like the universe was willing us to run into each other,” Callie explained. In the spring of 2018, David drove from Jacksonville, Florida, to Charleston to take Callie on their first official date. Not long after, her birthday trip came with a surprise of its own: David secretly flew into New York City from a different airport to meet her there. “David still doesn’t believe me, but this was the best surprise I’ve ever had!” Callie recalled. The couple became engaged in 2023 during a trip to Napa, where their group spent the weekend golfing and enjoying the resort. When someone suggested pre-lunch champagne at the top of the vineyard, Callie thought nothing of it. Once they reached the overlook, David took her hand and asked her to marry him.

The Vision: Summer At The Cape

Fully embracing hydrangea blues and crisp whites, David and Callie’s wedding reflected understated elegance—a Cape Cod celebration through a timeless lens of style curated by Katydyd Events. Summers spent at the Cape were always a highlight for Callie growing up, so they knew they wanted to share this special location with their friends and family for a meaningful destination wedding. The couple leaned into a classic feel that felt joyful without being “too fancy,” steering clear of a defined theme so the setting and experience could maintain the focus. The Wychmere Beach Club framed the day beautifully, its French doors and harbor views lending a sense of nostalgia. Botanique of Cape Cod created all-white arrangements for the ceremony and gradually introduced the signature Cape Cod blue as the evening progressed. A string trio set the tone as the ceremony unfolded, facing the waters of Nantucket Sound.

Tables glowed with candlelight, creating a cozy ambiance inspired by the boat wedding scene from The Parent Trap. Thoughtful details appeared throughout the day: cocktail napkins designed by the bride, cutie-shaped matchboxes, and watercolor invitations Callie collaborated on with the artist.

Getting Ready

In fuzzy slippers and matching ruffled pajama sets, the bride and her besties prepared for the big day. We also love that mom got her very own embroidered pajama set!

The Fashion

In a crisp silk mikado gown by Stella York, Callie was a quintessential Cape Cod bride. Her bridesmaids each selected a cornflower blue gown that matched their personality. The groom and his men all sported classic black tuxedos for the black-tie affair.

The Escort Wall

During cocktail hour, a cascading hydrangea installation draped from the bar to the floor, while a seating chart offered guests gummy candies tucked into small boxes filled with blue gummy sharks.

The Cake

In-keeping with the effortlessly chic vibe of the day, the couple opted for a simple, two-tiered wedding cake decorated in buttercream frosting. According to tradition, they cut the cake with a saber!

Trending: Bridal Mini

After dinner, the bride surprised everyone, returning in a sparkling bridal mini just in time to pour the champagne tower! If you were on the fence about whether or not you needed a second look, this adorable dress will surely tip the scales.
