When they first met, Chris lived in Baltimore and Morgan lived in D.C., so they joked that the early days of their relationship were spent riding Amtrak. As time went by, Morgan admitted she had inklings about Chris proposing, but he was determined to keep the exact moment a surprise. The night of the proposal Chris confessed, “I was a nervous wreck.” After changing outfits several times, he realized the ring box was too visible in his pocket. As panic set in, he grabbed his rain jacket to obscure the box, even though the day was hot and there was no rain in the forecast. Chris came up with an excuse to lead Morgan in the opposite direction of their hotel, ultimately taking her to Lafayette Square to find a quiet spot to propose.
When planning their wedding, a refined, romantic atmosphere graced their D.C. event hosted at The Larz Anderson House, where every detail was infused with wonder, from the venue’s hand-painted ceilings to meticulously thoughtful decor. Handmade invitations, created in a slow-art fashion, set the tone for the day. The couple crafted their own custom wood pulp, sifting, drying, and printing it using a letterpress plate. This labor of love was described by Morgan as “a reflection of the gratitude I felt for each guest’s presence in our lives.”
A serendipitous designer moment
A serendipitous moment occurred for Morgan while dress shopping. The designer of a label she adored happened to be at the showroom for a trunk show that day. When designer Dany Tabet suggested the gown, Morgan felt an instant wave of emotion – it was the one.
