Luis first tried to get Rosie’s attention with a Facebook message after a chance encounter at a nightclub in 2013. She never replied. Years later, the same love story would bring them to Hummingbird Nest Ranch, where Luis found a much more memorable way to get her attention: sending a mariachi band to serenade her on their wedding morning.
It was a fitting beginning to a celebration filled with meaningful traditions, spectacular live music, and an abundance of white roses. Planned and designed by Prêt a Soirée Events, their wedding photographed by Hector Gurrola paired timeless elegance with a lively atmosphere that reflected the family and life they had built together.

A missed Facebook message turned into a lasting love story
Luis and Rosie’s relationship began with a little persistence and a second chance.
After meeting briefly at a nightclub in 2013, Luis reached out to Rosie on Facebook, but his message went unanswered. Some time later, the two unexpectedly crossed paths again at a restaurant, where they finally had the opportunity to get to know one another.
This time, a genuine friendship developed.

Their first official date was a trip to the movies, but the evening turned into much more than watching a film. Laughter and conversation revealed a connection that neither had anticipated, and their friendship gradually became something deeper.
The couple have been inseparable ever since, building a home together and raising two children. Rosie, who serves as a Deputy with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, and Luis approached their wedding as a celebration not only of their relationship, but also of the family they had created.

Hummingbird Nest Ranch became a timeless floral escape
For their wedding at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, Luis and Rosie wanted a design that would feel just as beautiful decades later.

Rather than following a passing trend, they chose a classic palette of white flowers, lush greenery, and warm candlelight.
Prêt a Soirée Events transformed the villa setting into an elegant floral escape with Steel Stem Floral, using cascading white roses and abundant greenery to complement the architecture.

A fountain dressed in flowers became a romantic focal point, while the reception featured a dramatic canopy of greenery suspended overhead.
The combination of white blooms, natural textures, and candlelight created an atmosphere that felt luxurious without losing the warmth the couple wanted for their guests.

A mariachi serenade honored a beloved wedding tradition
Tradition played an important role from the very beginning of the wedding day.
Luis and Rosie chose not to see one another before their church ceremony, preserving the anticipation of their first meeting at the altar.
But Luis still found a way to make Rosie feel celebrated that morning.

Honoring the tradition of la serenata, he arranged for mariachi band Mariachi Contreras de Tecalitlan to serenade her before the ceremony.
The romantic gesture brought music and cultural tradition into the earliest moments of the day, creating a memorable surprise without breaking the couple’s decision to wait until the ceremony to see each other.

A traditional church ceremony celebrated their commitment
After the morning serenade, Luis and Rosie came together for their church ceremony.
Having spent the earlier part of the day apart, the moment they finally saw each other carried the anticipation they had intentionally preserved.

Their ceremony marked an important new chapter in a relationship that had already grown to include a home and two children.
That sense of family remained central throughout the celebration, with their children included in every part of the wedding day.

White roses and candlelight transformed the villa reception
Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, where the couple’s vision of timeless elegance came fully to life.

Cascading white roses introduced romance and movement, while the floral-dressed fountain brought another layer of beauty to the villa setting.

Overhead, a lush greenery canopy created an immersive atmosphere for the reception. As candlelight illuminated the space, the restrained palette allowed the abundance of flowers and foliage to make an impression without relying on bold color.

The overall effect was sophisticated and romantic, providing a beautiful contrast to the high-energy celebration that followed.

A money dance and family dances kept tradition at the center
For Luis and Rosie, the reception was about more than beautiful surroundings.

The couple incorporated a traditional money dance and heartfelt dances honoring their parents, creating opportunities to celebrate the family relationships that had shaped their lives.

Their two children were also woven throughout the day, making the wedding feel like a celebration of their entire family rather than just the two of them.
These personal moments brought an emotional balance to the festivities, ensuring that the evening’s excitement never overshadowed what mattered most to the couple.

Multiple Banda bands kept the celebration going
If the wedding morning began with a mariachi serenade, the reception took the music to another level.
Luis and Rosie made live entertainment a major priority, hiring traditional banda musicians, including several bands throughout the night, to keep the energy going.

Their goal was simple: they wanted everyone to have the time of their lives.
Between the live performances, food, drinks, and lively dance floor, the celebration maintained its momentum throughout the evening.

And rather than spending the reception watching everything unfold from the sidelines, Luis and Rosie made a point of enjoying every moment alongside their guests.
The result was a wedding that felt as joyful as it was elegant, with meaningful traditions and memorable entertainment sharing the spotlight.

From the unanswered Facebook message that started their story to a mariachi serenade more than a decade later, Luis and Rosie’s celebration was filled with reminders of how far they had come.
The white roses, greenery canopy, and candlelit villa created a timeless setting, but the heart of the wedding was the family they had built and the traditions they wanted to honor. With their children beside them and live music filling the night, they celebrated their marriage exactly as they had hoped: surrounded by the people they love and fully immersed in the joy of the occasion.
