These Dresses Get the Look of Princess Beatrice’s Something Borrowed

Share

I’m going to start with a very straight-forward sentiment: Princess Beatrice’s wedding day look (shot by Benjamin Wheeler) was kind of everything that a marrying Royal should be (and yes, we’re usually sooo against that word and its weight for weddings in the year 2020 because #norulesanymore, but we’re making an exception). While her sister, Eugenie, also embraced a classic “princess” look for her own wedding day, two years ago, we’re team B 100 percent. The girl was a perfect blend of tradition, modernity, femininity, and timelessness, and we absolutely see her wedding ensem becoming a major muse for brides getting married this year or next.

… Not to mention giving all the brides whoever thought of wearing something vintage and heirloom for their special day the ultimate yaaaas girl 🙌🙌🙌.

“… she wore a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell and the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, both belonging to Her Majesty The Queen. The tiara was worn by Her Majesty on her wedding day in 1947.” ~ The Royal Family

Further descriptions about Princess Beatrice’s #somethingborrowed game, pulled directly from a Buckingham Palace press release, note that her dress “is made from Peau De Soie taffeta in shades of ivory, trimmed with ivory Duchess satin, with organza sleeves… “It is encrusted with diamanté and has a geometric checkered bodice.” Queen Elizabeth II, herself, wore the gown to the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia in 1962 and then again to a momentous state dinner in the same decade.

Princess Beatrice worked with her grandmother’s clothiers and styling teams – helmed by Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin – to refresh the design of the dress and guarantee it fit her like a glove on the most glorious of days. ICYMI: it fit flawlessly for her intimate wedding at Windsor Castle, Beatrice definitely did her Granny proud.

Before we share some of the designers who more-than get what Beatrice was going for for her vow vibe, let’s just highlight the major points of her mystique, in our opinion:

  • Those organza sleeves: we’re adoring this playful and super trendy update to the cap sleeve
  • The intricate and skillfully-geometric embellishments all over the bodice

We found some options that are totally BeaBea-utiful.

So, if you’re on the hunt for a dress like hers, look no further….
