We loveeee fashion here, obvi, but wedding fashion is our favorite of all. You show us a bride in her gown, and we’ll show you one of the most stunning, time-stopping sirens there is in life. Really. When a woman puts on her dress, she transforms into a unicorn - errr, something pretty damn close to it - and we’re immediately entranced by her magic. It’s effing spellbinding.

In any case, 2018 was full of utterly-epic wedding dress photography, and we count ourselves lucky to have been able to regram some of it (oh yah, you’re looking at some the most double-tapped photos to hit our feed this year). From stare-worthy detail shots of all the sparkle to playful candids that just so happen to highlight the haute couture each bride is rocking, these photos all had us 😍😍😍. I don’t think any of them were captioned without #dreamdress somewhere in the copy.

But before we jump into the goods, we thought we’d go over a few things necessary for those Instagram gold wedding gown snaps. Of course, it doesn’t have to be a gold gown, per se, but it certainly can’t hurt… After all, gold gowns are trending hard for 2019 weddings. The metallic is mesmerizing.

If you’re hoping to lock down some of your own glam gown pics for your wedding next year or the one following, consider this:

You’ll want to start following some major #dressgoals brands.

We’re obsessed with wedding fashion overall, it’s ALL good, but we certainly have some favorites. Hayley Paige, Grace Loves Lace, Rue De Seine, Pronovias, Berta, Galia Lahav, Rime Arodaky, these designers and bridal brands will always turn out photo phenoms with their designs. So, if your dress is a huge deal for you ((as it should be!)), and you want some epic pics to go along with it, you’ll definitely want to keep these feeds on your radar.

You’ll want to hunt for a dress with a story or perspective.

In other words, look for something that defies the laws of basic. Think of a dress that isn’t white, something with embroidery, something with stunning sleeves or a jaw-dropping portrait back. If you’re feeling it, maybe even consider a gown with high slits, illusion detailing, or mind-blowing 3D motifs like cascading florals. Or shock your guests and photographer with a dress that is so clean, classic, and modern it breaks the internet. #meghanmarkleheyyyy.

You’ll want to onboard a photographer with some fashion background.

Not saying that you have to enlist a photographer with crazy fashion credentials - after all, it’s your wedding, the moments between you and your partner are the most important - but having someone with some editorial or runway photography experience could certainly be advantageous. They’ll know how to make the dress look 👌 and they’ll be able to make you look like a model angel.
