Mismatched bridesmaid dresses for a farm wedding

When in doubt about your wedding location, just build your own venue! No joke, this couple had a gorgeous lakefront property that was the picture perfect setting for their dream wedding, so they built an amazing barn on the property for their natural chic nuptials. The Barn at Autumn Lane is now available for weddings, so if you love what you see, you too can celebrate at this gorgeous location on Sebago Lake in Maine.

Their early September nuptials featured a natural chic design in neutral tones with pops of blush and gray. For the nature loving couple, this venue is for you! Catch a closer look at all the highlights below and in the full gallery captured by Jaimee Morse.

After getting engaged in March on a beach at sunset, Dan and Mackenzie knew they wanted to have their wedding in a beautiful outdoor space that reflected their love of the nature. They had recently purchased an old family property on Sebago Lake where Dan grew up, and after looking at some local wedding venues decided that their own property would be the perfect spot. They could already picture their ceremony in the open field surrounded by woods and lake views. A date was picked a year and a half later in order to finish renovating the property and build a modern barn for the reception space overlooking the lake. With their own wedding visions in mind, they were able to build the venue of their dreams and created The Barn at Autumn Lane which is now available for other couples to book as well.

The ceremony

The ceremony was performed by Mackenzie's cousin and included sentimental touches, such as combining sand from the beaches the bride and groom grew up on, and a ring passing ceremony where family and friends passed the wedding rings from person to person to bestow personal blessings for the couple. The highlight of the ceremony may have been when the couple's chickens decided to crash the party and wander down the aisle themselves!

nuetral tones + greenery

Come early September, the lake water was still warm, the weather was comfortable and the property was lush and green. The color palette consisted of white, neutrals, and greenery with pops of grey and blush in order to bring a natural elegant feel to the outdoor venue. Personal touches were included, such as; tables named after the mountains they had climbed together, and a photo collection of the history of the property. Blankets were piled on a handcrafted hall tree to keep guests warm into the evening.

dreamy garden escape

The ceremony was followed by cocktail hour on the stone patio and a tented dinner on the back courtyard with a backdrop of the stone waterfall. As the sun started to set the party moved into the barn for dessert and dancing and finished with a bonfire on the edge of the patio. The whole day felt like a dreamy garden escape and was everything the bride and groom had imagined. Dan and Mackenzie can't wait for other couples to experience their own dream wedding at The Barn at Autumn Lane in the future!
