Rifle Paper Co. inspired this wedding’s colorful secret garden transformation

Share

Color wasn’t simply part of this wedding’s design. It was the entire starting point.

Inspired by the joyful, storybook quality of Rifle Paper Co., the bride envisioned a celebration at The Connors Center that felt bright, whimsical, and full of personality. Rather than choosing a restrained palette or asking her creative team to play it safe, she encouraged them to embrace color wholeheartedly.

That creative freedom resulted in a celebration planned by Erin Davies Consultancy and photographed by Photos by Anna where thoughtful color blocking, abundant seasonal blooms, and dramatic floral tree installations transformed the venue into an unexpected secret garden.

Rifle Paper Co. inspired a whimsical color story

The bride looked to the recognizable charm of Rifle Paper Co. designs for inspiration, particularly their playful use of color and romantic, illustrated quality.

Rather than recreating a specific pattern, the wedding translated that spirit into a vibrant floral experience by Fleur Event. Bold combinations and intentional color blocking gave the design a sense of structure, allowing the abundant flowers to feel cohesive without losing their playful energy.

The approach embraced maximalism while remaining thoughtful about how each color contributed to the overall setting.

Seasonal flowers shaped the entire design

Seasonality was just as important as color.

Instead of building the floral design around varieties that might not naturally be at their best, the couple prioritized blooms at their seasonal peak. This allowed the arrangements to feel fresh, abundant, and connected to the time of year.

The decision also gave the creative team room to work with the natural beauty of the flowers themselves, allowing seasonal availability to influence the finished aesthetic.

Floral trees transformed the venue into a secret garden

Among the most memorable design elements were the lush, full-scale floral tree installations.

These statement arrangements introduced height and dimension, extending the floral design beyond traditional centerpieces and creating an immersive garden atmosphere.

Combined with the bold color blocking and abundance of seasonal flowers, the installations made the venue feel like an unexpected secret garden, with a sense of discovery and whimsy woven throughout.

Creative freedom brought the vision to life

One of the most defining aspects of the wedding was the bride’s willingness to trust her creative team.

She had a clear sense of how she wanted the celebration to feel, but rather than controlling every individual arrangement or color combination, she gave her designers the freedom to interpret that vision.

The result captured the joy and personality she had hoped for from the beginning. Vibrant flowers, playful combinations, and larger-than-life installations worked together to create an atmosphere that felt imaginative without becoming disconnected from the season.

For couples drawn to color, this wedding offers a different approach to floral design: embrace what’s naturally blooming, give each color room to shine, and allow creativity to shape the experience.

Sometimes the most memorable wedding designs begin with a simple decision to let color lead.
