their love story

Lawrence and Monique met at Pepperdine University, where they first got to know each other in their Spanish class. Sparks quickly began to fly as they spent more time together. Before long, they were inseparable—whether studying, going to the beach, or simply enjoying each other’s company. “From very early on, it was clear we were meant to be together,” the couple shared. One month shy of their ninth anniversary, Lawrence proposed at the top of Palisades Ski Resort in Tahoe, California—a place they had long cherished for snowboarding. It became the setting for a new favorite memory, celebrating their newly engaged bliss. To pull off the surprise, Lawrence convinced Monique they were posing for a photo. Just as she smiled for the camera, he turned, dropped to one knee in the snow, and proposed. Reflecting on the moment, Monique recalled, “To this day, I’m not sure I caught every word he said—my excitement and happy tears completely took over.”

the vision: effortless cali elegance

Framed by Spanish architecture and the natural beauty of Ventura County, Lawrence and Monique’s wedding embodied effortless California elegance. Lush white flowers lined the wedding aisle and adorned the archway, with the Topa Topa Mountains providing a breathtaking backdrop. Candles rested at the base of the altar, a classic black-and-white color palette preserving the beauty of the Spanish Hills Club. The couple recalled feeling speechless when they first saw their ceremony and reception spaces designed by the talented Jamison and Tania Events. Their favorite moment was exchanging vows, a memory they described as being “completely immersed in our love for one another.”

the florals

Dinner unfolded amidst dazzling candlelight, with a grand chandelier draped in flowers and greenery. A cascading floral arrangement by Primrose & Petals in the foyer added a striking final touch to their unforgettable celebration.

getting ready

Monique and her ladies lounged poolside in matching sage nighties, a fun and flirty twist on the typical bridesmaid pajamas or robes. Then, her mom helped her put the finishing touches on her look before she stepped into her gown.

the fashion

Monique found her dream gown after trying on nearly 80 dresses. With her mother by her side, selecting the fully beaded dress of her dreams became one of her most cherished wedding memories. She completed her look with beaded platform heels and a tulle cape pinned at the back of each shoulder, evoking the essence of a veil.

Lawrence wore a deep olive green suit (one of our favorite trends this season), while his groomsmen sported tan three-piece suits. The bridesmaids also rocked the olive green shade in chic satin halter dresses.

DIY signage
Lawrence created all their signage—including a custom flower box welcome sign and seating chart—relishing in the endless DIY possibilities. He even created drink charms with a 3D printer that perched on the rim of each specialty beverage.

the ride

The happy couple made their getaway in a teal vintage car that popped against the neutral backdrop. With white floral garland trailing behind them, they rode off into their happily ever after.

the cake

The couple cut into an adorable heart-shaped cake decorated in a Lambeth style that said “just married” across the top.
