Long before New York City became home, Franca and Anthony were high school students who met through mutual friends. Years later, after more than a decade of building a life in NYC, the city became the setting for both their engagement and the wedding that would bring their story full circle.
Anthony proposed on an October evening in Central Park, choosing Bow Bridge surrounded by the colors of fall. Afterward, the two celebrated over dinner at Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel. When it came time to plan their wedding, autumn in New York once again became the inspiration.
Both originally from upstate New York, the couple chose The Bowery Hotel as the place to gather their closest family and friends in the city they now call home. Franca had loved fall since childhood, and after more than 12 years in New York City, it had become her favorite season there as well. The celebration, photographed by Readyluck and planned with Sarah Glowacki, naturally became a reflection of everything she loves about New York at this time of year.
Inspired by autumn in New York
Growing up in the suburbs, Franca had always loved the colors, trees, and traditions surrounding fall. After moving to New York City, her appreciation for the season only grew, giving her a natural starting point for the wedding design.
Rather than treating New York as simply the location, Franca and Anthony incorporated the city throughout the celebration in thoughtful and sometimes playful ways. The Bowery Hotel offered an iconic backdrop with the warmth and character to complement their autumn inspiration by Porcelain Vine Floral, while custom details told a more personal story of their relationship with the city.
Planning began more than a year in advance, allowing Franca to make decisions gradually rather than rushing through the process. That approach gave the couple time to commission several personalized pieces that became some of the most memorable details of the day.
A fashion-forward bridal look
As a graduate of FIT, Franca had long considered fashion an important part of her life, so her wedding wardrobe offered an opportunity to bring that appreciation for clothing and designers into the celebration.
Two accessories became particular favorites. Gianvito Rossi wedding shoes brought a polished designer element to her bridal look, while a floral veil by Lihi Hod introduced romance and texture.
Rather than treating fashion as separate from the overall design, Franca’s choices reflected the same approach seen throughout the wedding: thoughtful, personal, and rooted in pieces she genuinely loved.

Whimsical watercolor artwork became a recurring element throughout the wedding, beginning before guests even arrived.
Franca and Anthony commissioned custom invitations from The Spaniel Studio featuring watercolor envelope liners that illustrated their journey together. The artwork continued at the wedding through hand-drawn menus and signage, creating a cohesive thread while still feeling personal and unexpected.
One of Franca’s favorite details was the MetroCard escort display. Watercolor artwork and an instantly recognizable piece of New York life came together in a playful detail that could only have belonged to a wedding rooted in the city.
The couple also created custom pocket squares for Anthony and Franca’s father, adding another personal touch to their wedding-day fashion.
Bringing favorite NYC flavors to The Bowery Hotel
Franca and Anthony approached their wedding menu much like the rest of the celebration, choosing dishes that reflected their own experiences rather than simply selecting a traditional reception menu.
During their tasting, the couple selected dishes inspired by some of their favorite meals and incorporated as many New York favorites as possible. Custom watercolor menus continued the hand-drawn artwork seen throughout the wedding, bringing the whimsical design into the dining experience.
One cocktail held particularly special meaning. The custom champagne margarita, named The Sidewalk Slam IV, was created in honor of a college friend who had passed away before the wedding. Amid the more playful New York details, the drink offered a meaningful way to include someone important to them in the celebration.
Celebrating the city they call home
For all the fashion, artwork, and distinctly New York details, Franca and Anthony’s favorite part of the wedding was ultimately much simpler. Their families and closest friends had traveled to New York to celebrate with them in the place that had become their home.
Coming from upstate New York made that gathering especially meaningful. The city was no longer simply where they lived. It had become part of their relationship, from more than a decade of life in NYC to an October proposal on Bow Bridge and, eventually, a wedding at one of downtown Manhattan’s most recognizable hotels.
The result was a celebration that felt unmistakably connected to its setting without relying on a traditional New York theme. Autumn colors reflected Franca’s lifelong love of the season, MetroCard escort cards brought a playful piece of everyday city life into the design, and watercolor illustrations documented the couple’s journey in a deeply personal way.
At the center of it all was The Bowery Hotel, filled for one autumn evening with the people who had traveled from upstate New York and beyond to celebrate Franca and Anthony. More than a wedding in New York City, it became a love letter to the season, the memories, and the city they now call home.
