Back in 2020, Aspen & Co. Photo + Film launched a giveaway directed towards couples who were impacted by Covid – the winner would be gifted a free wedding photo/video package. Bride-to-be Andrea entered, sharing the incredible story of how she and groom-to-be Yandy met in Havana, Cuba while she was on vacation, and how at the time of entering the giveaway they were physically separated from each other because the U.S. and Cuban borders had closed due to COVID. Andrea shared that Yandy had proposed by sending Andrea her engagement ring via FedEx and proposing over Facetime. They had gotten legally married in Cuba in an intimate celebration with Yandy’s family, but it was important for Andrea to get Yandy to the U.S. so they could have a wedding in California to celebrate with her friends, family, and son.

Once Yandy finally arrived safely in the states after over 2 years, the couple booked the beautiful venue at La Mariposas in Escondido, California. In 5 months, Andréa planned the stateside wedding of their dreams. She chose La Mariposas – a beautiful private estate – due to its gorgeous views. Some of the most special moments of their day were actually prior to the ceremony, including a first look with Andrea’s son and a first look with Yandy. The ceremony took place in one of the gardens at the estate followed by an outdoor reception featuring a mobile wood-fired pizza experience for food, a vintage mobile bar with custom drinks, a delicious cake, and (of course) Cuban cigars from Havana. After so much time apart, this day was filled with so much love and joy!
