Vy and Khan’s paths first crossed in New York City. With her years in Vietnam and his roots in Boston, life eventually pulled them in different directions before bringing them back together again.
For their wedding planned with The F Lab and photographed by NukiA Studio, that journey led them to InterContinental Phu Quoc, where the tranquil seascape became the backdrop for a celebration that embraced beauty without chasing perfection.
Yellow carnations bloomed across the beach. Fireworks illuminated the sky. Friends surprised one another with impromptu performances, and when Vy and Khan stepped onto the dance floor to Coldplay’s “Yellow,” there was no perfectly rehearsed choreography. There was simply the two of them, swaying imperfectly and completely caught up in the moment.
It was romantic, organic, and wonderfully unscripted.
A destination wedding in Phu Quoc
With its ocean views and spectacular sunsets, Intercontinental Phú Quốc provided a natural setting for a wedding built around movement and atmosphere.
Rather than competing with the seascape, the design embraced it. The ocean breeze moved through the floral installations, petals shifted naturally throughout the ceremony, and the beach became part of the visual experience rather than simply a backdrop.
For Vy and Khan, it was a setting that allowed the celebration to feel alive – beautiful, but never overly controlled.
A welcome dinner in Sunset Town
The wedding weekend began in Sunset Town, bringing friends and loved ones together before the ceremony itself.
The evening unfolded with laughter, tears, and the kind of spontaneous moments that can’t really be planned. One of the most memorable came when a bridesmaid surprised everyone with an impromptu performance.
It set the tone for what would follow: a wedding weekend less concerned with perfect execution than with being completely present for the people and experiences surrounding them.
Yellow carnations become a beachside garden
For the ceremony, one flower became the undeniable star of the design: the yellow carnation.
Rather than using the blooms as a small accent, the floral design transformed them into an entire garden along the beach. Masses of yellow carnations appeared to grow directly from the landscape, their petals moving in the ocean breeze against the earthy tones of the shoreline.
The choice felt simultaneously playful and romantic. Carnations, often overlooked in favor of more traditional luxury wedding flowers, became something entirely different when used with this kind of abundance and scale. Against the Phu Quoc seascape, the effect was unexpected, textural, and beautifully alive.
A sculptural bridal bouquet designed for movement
Vy’s bouquet offered another interpretation of the wedding’s organic floral story. Rather than carrying a traditional hand-tied arrangement, the flowers wrapped along her arm like a living sculpture. The unconventional shape allowed the bouquet to move with her rather than feeling like a separate accessory she needed to carry throughout the day. It was floral design that became part of the bridal styling itself: organic, artistic, and intentionally free-flowing.
A sunset ceremony by the sea
As Vy and Khan exchanged vows, the beachside garden and tranquil ocean created a ceremony setting that needed little else.
The flowers weren’t perfectly static. Petals moved. The ocean breeze shifted the landscape around them. That sense of imperfection became part of the beauty rather than something to correct.

There is something particularly fitting about building Vy and Khan’s wedding around flowers that refused to stay perfectly still.
Their own story wasn’t linear. They met in New York, grew separately, and eventually found their way back to one another. Their wedding carried that same sense of allowing life to unfold rather than forcing it into a perfect shape.
