their love story

Charlie actually bought my business from me. The day the deal went through, he asked if I wanted to go to dinner to celebrate. I said yes, of course, but when we arrived at the very romantic, moody restaurant, I started wondering—was this a deal celebration or actually a date? So glad it was a date! ❤️ Charlie proposed a couple of days before my birthday. I had been doing laundry, and he called me into our bedroom—he had completely filled the room with balloons! I was so happy and thought, How lovely that he did this for my birthday… And then he got down on one knee!
the inspo: till death do us part

With a moody black and red color palette, the inspo for this unique wedding was ‘Till Death Do Us Part. Little macabre details were scattered throughout the day, like the coffin ring box, the groom’s Dia De Los Muertos cufflinks, and of course, the bride’s black dress!

the destination: italy

Planning-wise, the most fun part was picking the venue since it brought us to Italy. Charlie and I are originally from the UK but live in Australia. Our wedding was in Italy, so having all of our loved ones there to celebrate with us was incredibly special.

getting ready

Carrie sipped champagne in the bridal suite of the villa with her ladies as they prepped for the day ahead. She took the moment to embrace a classic white bridal moment in a satin and lace robe before slipping into her dramatic black wedding gown. Charlie spent the morning getting ready with his groomsmen. And we love all of the hidden details in his ensemble, like his red-to-black ombré shoes and the red rose print on the lining of his jacket!

the dress: fuego by galia lahav
Ok, we know this is why you’re here—the dress!!! This beauty is called Fuego for obvious reasons. It’s hot-hot-hot! From Galia Lahav’s signature hourglass silhouette and nude lining to the dramatic illusion back, WOW, just wow! And we can’t decide what we’re more obsessed with, the gown or the matching veil.
Leave tradition behind and push bridal boundaries in this bold, black French lace mermaid gown. “Fuego,” meaning ‘fire’, perfectly encapsulates the passion and raw intensity of love in its design. Drawing inspiration from Spanish flamenco culture, the expressive dance of love and longing is represented in the skirt’s silk tulle and feathered ruffles. The corseted back is divine—an illusion panel that reveals a striking V-silhouette framed by a line of miniature black buttons. Add the high-neck French lace bolero for a unique look. The white cathedral-length silk tulle veil with black embroidered lace trim brings contrast and even more drama. Fuego is a statement piece of unexpected color that you’ll never forget—an embodiment of unconventionality and bravery that will leave an unforgettable impression.

It was actually the first dress I tried on! I tried a couple of others on in the shop afterward, but they didn’t compare even a tiny bit to my dress. Once I was fully in the dress, everything just felt perfect, and I couldn’t wait to marry the love of my life. It’s very cliché, but I really did feel like a princess in the most romantic and magical fairytale of all time! One of my flower girls was completely captivated by it and insisted on carrying my train whenever she had the chance!

the wedding party

Adding rich color to the muted colors of the chapel ruins, the bridesmaids and flower girls wore bright red dresses for the moody affair. The groomsmen wore black with hints of red and other goth elements like studded loafers.

a special tribute

In honor of loved ones who couldn’t be there to celebrate with them, the bride carried framed portraits of them on her bouquet.
the ride

The couple made their big entrance to the reception in an adorable little white Fiat. They arrived just in time to join their guests for cocktail hour and were promptly handed an Aperol spritz. If this isn’t how you show up, did you even get married in Italy?
