A Modern Mountain Escape

This avant-garde wedding inspiration shoot is for the adventurous couples, lovers of nature, but modern at heart. As the planner and stylist for this shoot, I looked for ways to marry the modern with the romantic. I wanted a shoot that blended perfectly with our alpine environment, and at the same time with the architecture of the ICH Davos, a building renowned for its modernist design, laser-cut lines, and metallic facade. Contrasting these elements was key to the styling of this wedding inspiration. And my team, including destination wedding photographer Nora Mancini of Nora Photography, embraced the challenge perfectly!

Wedding Portraits

We took our bride and groom for a walk around the lake just before sunset, where we enjoyed some special moments shooting across a wooden jetty, on a little boat, and on a path surrounded by pine trees and speckles of shimmering light coming through the branches.

Ceremony

The ceremony set up was created on one of the venue's breathtaking terraces. Overlooking the whole of Davos, its lake, and the surrounding Swiss Alps, we couldn't think of a better place for a breathtaking "I Do." Looking, once again, to mix modern with romantic and alpine-inspired details, we used black geometric chairs and lined the aisle with foliage and geometric lanterns. We then framed the ceremony spot with two tall wooden stumps serving as stands for two large flower arrangements created by Jen of Willowgold, using overflowing foliage of eucalyptus, mimosa, fern, and white lisianthus, scabious, stocks and sweet peas.

Wedding Style

Our groom wore a Hugo Boss suit with a bespoke white and black polka dots bow-tie and pocket square by Blossom and Cherry. Our bride, instead, wore the perfect millennial gown: a playful, light crop-top with geometric lace inserts and short sleeves, and a tulle 'plumetis' skirt by Milan bridal designers Couture Hayez Atelier. Hair and makeup artist and hair accessory designer Paola Bianchera created a soft hair up-do with warm makeup tones and adorned the bride's hair with a delicate copper leafy headpiece.

Tablescape

Our table was set up indoor right in front of a large window overlooking the mountains. An imperial table for six, with a vivacious floral runner, grey tapered candles on black candlestick holders, and black and copper geometric tea lights to fill the space and play with the romantic vs modern concept of this wedding inspiration shoot.

Stationery + Place Setting

Stationery played a huge part on this table. Lou of Beyond Vintage created the perfect copper-foiled stationery: a mix of modern calligraphy and clean fonts, intersecting lines on vellum paper overlaying a subtle grey card, all held together by copper clips - this stationery suite brought together the modern, and yet sweet essence of our 'bride and groom'.
I styled the plate settings by layering jute chargers with grey linen napkins from Linen Crafts, white plates, vellum menus with copper details next to a eucalyptus branch. Our place cards and table name were held together by copper Oliver Bonas place card holders and frame. To carry the architectural theme through, we used the geometric chairs and decorated the back of the bride's and groom's chairs with foliage and laser cut "bride" and "groom" signage.
