14 Valentine’s Day Manicures to Rock for Cupid

T-minus 9 days until 2.14.18 and we couldn’t be more excited. We’ve let you peep the hottest Valentine’s Day makeup looks, and filled you in on all the sweet specifics of Valentine’s Day candy, but today we’re going to go as basic as humanly possible and embrace #manimonday with open arms. After all, February = love month.

I’m always one for pink, red, and white, so Vday is hardly the only occasion where I’ll play with this palette. But for anyone else who isn’t a crazy Hallmark holiday fan, it’s a great day to surrender yourself to your nail artist and let them go a little x’s and o’s and hearts happy.

Or, you can be super subtle and celebrate Valentines with a gel job that’s not overly extra. So, lose the bows and arrows and everything cutesy and instead strip down to something a little more nude - with maybe one or two embellishments. Makes sense, right? You can go sweet or sexy, and either works for the holiday.

So before you call and make your appointment with the salon, swipe through our slider of decked-out digits and refer to our Cupid-approved cheat sheet on the trends that are so haute right now.

PS. If you happen to be one of the 6+ million who get engaged on Valentine’s Day, you’ll need to take a quick peek at some of the best wedding-worthy nails to date. It’s never too early to start planning your big day mani….

  1. Rose Gold Romance. Rose gold is appropriate all year round, but for Valentine’s Day, the flirty + feminine metallic motif is major. From glitter guises to simplistic jeweled decals and gilded tips, RG will soon be the OG in Vday nail artistry.

  2. Pop Art Hot Pink. Just by looking at the palette, you’ll see a pattern of Andy Warhol-type pop pink and it’s all on point for this sweetheart season.

  3. Hot for Hearts. Whether they’re stenciled or painted on free hand, added as a 3D applique (circa stick-on earrings in the 90’s) or approached geometrically, hearts have such a home on your nails this time of year.

  4. Festive Furnishings. From multi-colored pastel confetti, to metallic dots and cozy 3D knit appliques (so good, @sally_hansen), these details turn up the festive factor on your Vday nails.

  5. Lowkey Love is Love. Red, pink and white nails are getting half moon makeovers with rainbows and it’s the definition of universal love.
