You’re Invited To A Wedding–Now What Do You WearPhoto:

If you’re like us, there’s a rush of excitement when you first see a wedding invitation arrive in the mail, but that excitement is quickly followed by one crucial question, “What should I wear?” Let’s face it, it’s a fun problem to have, but there really is a lot to consider when choosing your wedding ensemble. First, what season does the wedding fall in? You definitely want to be comfortable–there’s nothing worse than sweating through your clothes and having that immortalized in someone’s wedding album! What type of venue is it? You wouldn’t wear the same thing to a beach wedding that you would to a wedding in a modern gallery space. Most importantly, what is the dress code? Most couples state the dress code somewhere on the invitation, but when in doubt, it is totally okay to ask–better safe than sorry! We did the leg work for you and found some gorgeous looks that would be perfect for every type of wedding. Gentlemen, we made sure to put some looks in there for you too!

Check out this fun wedding where the couple gave their guests a quirky dress code based on their favorite movies. If you’re having a micro wedding, this etiquette guide covers everything you need to know, including what types of dress codes are appropriate.

You’re Invited To A Spring Wedding

Spring is a great time to play with prints like this lovely little number. Choose something in a light fabric like chiffon and remember to bring a light jacket or sweater in case it gets chilly as the day goes on.

Printed suits are perfect for spring, like this lovely plaid. Have fun with color too!

You’re Invited To A Garden Wedding

Soft colors always look great against a bright green backdrop, so think pastels. We love the tiny lace tiers on this sweet bodycon dress.

Seersucker is a great fabric for those hotter months and it adds a playful touch to any look. Pair it with a fun floral print tie and you’re golden!

You’re Invited To A Beach Wedding

Beach weddings are the perfect opportunity to rock a laid-back maxi. We love the drapey bodice and silky ruffles on this gold dress.

Linen is the only way to go when it comes to beach weddings. Go linen with your shirt too, you can thank us later!

You’re Invited To A Summer Wedding

Going sleeveless is a must for summer! You also want to wear something flowy like this pleated dress that won’t stick to you in case you get hot throughout the day.

Summer weddings can be brutal in a suit, so go for something lightweight like this blue chambray.

You’re Invited To A Fall Wedding

Velvet is the perfect fabric for a fall wedding and we love this rich sage color!

For suits, fall is all about texture, go for a heavier tweed or a rich plaid like this double-breasted suit. We love the idea of layering a turtleneck underneath instead of the typical dress shirt.

You’re Invited To A Winter Wedding

Winter weddings are all about rich, festive colors like this deep burgundy. It’s a good idea to have sleeves for some added warmth, even if the wedding is indoors.

Nothing says winter like a burgundy wool suit! Pair with a plain white dress shirt and some cognac leather accessories for a super-polished look.

You’re Invited To A Black-tie Wedding

When it comes to black-tie, black is always a safe bet, and floor-length is a must. Feel free to play with silhouette and texture, but steer clear of anything with a train, you still want to be able to dance.

If the invite says black-tie, that narrows down your options quite a bit, it’s tux, tux, or tux. Thankfully there are a bunch of different cuts to choose from. We love a shawl lapel like this one.

You’re Invited To A Gallery Wedding

For an artsy wedding, go with something a little more outside-the-box. This sequin midi dress is the perfect blend of sophisticated and edgy.

Give your suit an artsy update by pairing it with a sweater or hoodie underneath to give it a more cool-kid vibe. We love the idea of going all-black to keep the formality.

You’re Invited To A Wedding And You’re Pregnant

Comfort is key when you’re pregnant, but you can still look crazy good! We love the ruffle sleeves on this lovely chiffon dress and how it flows away from the body.
