Intimate Australian Wedding Photographed By Jonas Peterson

We seem to be on a roll this week with delightful Australian weddings . Today we have an intimate wedding from the ever-so-talented Jonas Peterson. This beauty was held at Coorabella, an incredible property near Byron Bay, Australia. It’s complete with hedges of jasmin and gardenias and a giant teepee over 12 feet high.

You are going to love the flower garland strands hanging off the tree at the ceremony site, the unique and stylish family style table and of course the bride’s J’Aton gown. Be sure to visit the full gallery to see more of this intimate Australian wedding.

From The Bride On Her Wedding Fashion:

I purchased a J’aton gown from Melbourne. I live in Sydney so there was a lot of travel back and forth. I went and tried on a few dresses locally and fell in love with their gown. It was hand beaded with swarofski crystals, knots, intricate beading on bust corseted. The train was 2 metres long.

I made a veil and pinned it into my hair just seconds before walking down the aisle. I wore pear shaped drop earrings from Tesserella House. The girls there were a hoot and so accommodating.

Acoustic guitar player serenaded the guests while they waited for us to walk. He played me down the aisle to ‘Here comes the sun’ and we walked out to U2’s ‘It’s a beautiful day’.   My Mum walked me down the aisle hand in hand and gave me away. The aisle was filled with petals that matched the colour of the girls dresses. The girls were beautiful and the tree was spectacular! The tree is over 150 years old. The evening before the wedding some of my guests sat up making loads of strands of flower garlands to string off the massive branches of this tree.

The table was one big long table that hosted 60 guests like the Last Supper. The flowers in different sized cylindrical vases with berries and white and green flowers – I wanted them in abundance.

The table setting was the menu, with place setting card and a white napkin tied with natural string with a gardenia on each.

What They Ate:

Bangalow sweet pork medallions wrapped in prosciutto stuffed with herbs + pistachios served with caramelized pears + Jerusalem artichoke puree

Main Course: Local Barcoo beef filet mignon, garlic confit potato mash with red wine jus served with Dutch carrots and brocolini Or Pacific Ocean Seafood Plate: Pan seared blue eye trevalla with dill beur blanc, sea scallop on gingered sweet potato, king prawn with daikon + watercress salad

The house had disco balls, Moroccan day beds, Statues of Jesus, original ceilings, Deer heads mounted, every corner had something interesting to look at. Gio cleared out the lounge room to make way for a dance floor. The had a disco ball in the center of room.

A DIY Purple Rustic Wedding

Purple seems to be the rising star around here, it has graced our pages regularly in every shade imaginable. Honoring this love affair with the regal hue, we have  Natalie and Eric’s DIY purple rustic wedding held at the Twin Oaks House and Gardens in San Diego, California.

This secluded venue features artistic and poetic gardens inspired by love, imagination and tranquility. Obviously the couple wanted to capture all those things in their wedding decor and details, spending tons of time creating the centerpieces and DIY touches. Captured by San Diego wedding photographer Priscila Valentina Photography. You can see more in the full gallery by clicking here.

From Natalie:

We fell in love as coworkers at Starbucks. After two years of dating Eric popped the question and within a few days we were investigating venues. Immediately after seeing Twin Oaks House and Gardens we were sold. Eric and I felt that a woodsy/garden vibe seemed to capture our personalities well, and we tried to portray that in our decor as well as other elements in the wedding. Being the fourth sibling in my family to get married, we had a lot of support and experience to help us out.

As you know we adore a good chalk board sign. Natalie made this super cute one that says, ” If I was a flower growing wild and free. All I’d want is for you to be my sweet honey bee.” Underneath they listed the bridal party what a great alternative to a traditional wedding programs. Incredibly cute!

In lue of a candle or sand ceremony we opted for what is called “God’s Knot” which was a fun project for my mom and me to create, and now resides in our home as a meaningful decorative piece.

We spent a lot of time creating the centerpieces ourselves as well as the rest of the flowers for the wedding. My good friend and bridesmaid, Erin Alexander, created the incredible silk floral arrangement that is hung over the gazebo. Though the venue was beautiful by itself, we were able to add DIY touches here and there such as the chalkboard signs, which helped us save on our budget. We were also able to get creative with our guestbook, using a suitcase for notes in the place of your average book.

The venue’s staff was amazing, especially Megan, our Day-Of Coordinator who made everything run so smoothly. Our DJ, Paul Peterson, was a blast and perfectly captured the classic rock/folk vibe we sought. Last but not least, the amazing photographer duo from Priscila Valentina Photography captured our day better than we ever could have imagined. They were so accommodating, showing up early, and staying late so that we could get the most photos possible of the day.

Advice To Other Brides:
My advice to other brides who are wanting a DIY feel is to plan your projects well ahead of time so as not to become too overwhelmed. Most importantly, make sure to stay true to your vision no matter what opinions others may have. Remember, it is your wedding, have fun with it!

Mesa, Arizona Shabby Chic Wedding

Devon and David’s wedding was filled to the brim with perfectly polished details. A color palette of peach, pink, vanilla and a touch of purple. The flowers looked good enough to eat. Lace and burlap throughout, and one incredibly draw dropping wedding alter.

Perfectly captured by Imaginale Design and designed by Rust and Lace. You have to see all the images in the full gallery by clicking here and read on the bride shares some intimate details about her shabby chic wedding.

I needed to transform my vision of a fairytale forest wedding into a backyard fantasy wedding and that’s when I found My Vintage Venue in Mesa, Arizona. We wanted our guests to feel as though they were transported rather than being in an Arizona back yard; taken somewhere special. We wanted them to feel and experience our love for one another all around them.

Little did my, then, future mother-in-law know how many wedding treasures she had boxed away until we had spent the day going through storage bins, closets and sheds. It was so much fun uncovering old items, each holding a family memory and story for her to share with me. What a special blessing and privilege to share the time with her as we felt the thrill of discovery with every new find. The family cake topper from a World War II vet along with romantic love letters from David’s Grandparents were amazing. The old antique bathtub that had gained quite a bit of dust while sitting in their backyard for a number of years, was a beautiful drink holder. The old 35mm cameras, and mementos from other family weddings that had aged with the years were magnificent. I also had the privilege of wearing an apron my then soon to be mother-in law wore at her wedding for a Polish tradition and since we shared the same heritage, I was able to incorporate that into one of the many things she shared with us for our wedding, and at the same time we had a wonderful mother/daughter experience.

In order to be cost efficient, I realized the first thing to go would be the cake. I loved a “sweet station” concept and that made it easy to let go of the traditional cake. A few family members and friends offered to bake cakes and AJ’s Fine Foods was so very accommodating in creating our six cakes, down to every detail, from photographs that I provided. David’s aunt made our smaller version of the “traditional” cake, using the cake topper from David’s grandparent’s wedding cake. She had never attempted a design such as ours before, yet it turned out beautifully.

Bohemian Wedding Decor

It should come as no surprise that we’re constantly on the hunt to inspire you. Weather it be a backyard diy wedding or an exotic bohemian tablescape, filled with floating lanterns, gold accents and jaw-dropping tropical flowers.  One Fine Day collaborated with Bellissima Floral to bring you all of this Bohemian wedding decor.

Perfect inspiration for the modern bohemian bride looking for elaborate yet relaxed wedding decor. Perfectly captured by Matt Theilen Photography at Lake Tahoe’s West Shore Cafe. To see more of this inspirational shoot click here.

From One Fine Day on how to create an event like this:

From Stephanie Anderson of One Fine Day Events – Matt Theilen, Bellissima Floral and I teamed up to create this romantic Bohemian dinner party photo shoot. The color scheme and theme were both inspired by an awesome striped shower curtain I stumbled upon in Cost Plus World Market. I fell in love with the blues, turquoises, and the texture of the fabric – I just had to make this work for a table linen. After developing the theme a little more and incorporating gold and wooden accents, we couldn’t think of a better location to house this lovely soiree than the West Shore Cafe. The lakefront venue has an amazing Hamptons-meets-Tahoe vibe with the deep rich wood, Moroccan chandeliers, intimate atmosphere, and jaw dropping view of the lake. We incorporated rental items from Celebrations Party Rentals, linens and chair covers from La Tavola, and amazing flowers from Bellissima to complete the entire ensemble. The chair skirts added an entire note of whimsy and elegance to the look, as the wooden table brings you back to the mountains and nature.

Throughout the design process, we really wanted to create a romantic nook for a couple to enjoy a cocktail with floating lanterns and unique decorative elements. So, we produced the lounge area under the canopy! Bellissima Floral died the water in the vases blue to bring an extra pop of color to the palette and we covered the furniture in pillows to bring out the deep blues, turquoises, purples, and brown hues. The chest came from the West Shores cozy sitting room and it was the perfect finishing piece to the entire look!.

For the dinner table, we paired Celebrations Party Rentals’ farm table and chivari chairs with La Tavola chair covers and a long wooden bench! All of the dinnerware and glassware had a hint of gold to complete the color scheme and blend with our mercury glass and gold vessels. Instead of using napkin rings for their traditional purpose, we turned them on their ends and placed a fuchsia dahlia-shaped candle on top. Mercury Glass is so hot right now, but we didn’t want to over do it….so we paired the mercury glass with gold wooden candle sticks and colored glass vases.

A Sonoma Wedding The Viansa Winery

There’s really nothing quite as romantic as a beautiful Sonoma Wedding. Filled with wineries and fabulous places to get married like The Viansa Winery. A breathtaking Sonoma wedding venue – with amazing architecture, a great barrel room, and of course beautiful vineyards. You really cannot go wrong.

That is exactly what Catherine and Mike thought when they chose to hold their wedding there. Captured by  Northern California wedding photographers, Tinywater Photography, we know you will enjoy this lovely event. To see more wedding details and pretty photos of Viansa Winery, visit the full wedding gallery.

We love when the bridal party wears Twist Wrap Dresses. They look good on all body types and can be worn so many different ways. Looks like Catherine’s bridesmaids are wearing the  Twist Wrap Dress in African Violet.

So much fun for the groom and his men to incorporate their individual style into their wedding look and feel. Mike and his groomsman wore superhero shirts underneath their suits. A super cute hidden surprise.

Instead of a guest book. the couple had two Manzanita branches where each guest could sign and hang their wishes and contact information and bright orange tangerines displayed each escort card. We are huge fans of using fruit (especially if you can eat it) as escort cards.

Rustic Wedding With Gingham Details

Full disclosure: we love a rustic wedding with gingham details. Before our next wedding we actually have never seen one, but we know now we are in love.

Invites, flower girl dresses, the bows in bridesmaid bouquets, groomsman shirts and wedding decor all had a hint of the square stuff. Way cute. All beautifully captured by Northern California wedding photographer Heather Elizabeth Photography. To see more of this wedding you can click here.

From The Bride:

After attending a couple of fabulous weddings, James and I felt that even though the celebration was over, we didn’t want it to be. We decided to find a venue that would allow us to spend more time with our family and friends before and after the wedding. It all goes by so fast and The Holly Farm was a dream come true. Not only are the grounds and homes on the property beautiful and magical, but the family who owns this enchanting place and the staff who put impeccable care into everything are amazingly welcoming and generous. We were lucky that we didn’t have to put a ton of effort and creativity into decorating the space, because it is already breath-taking. This gave us the opportunity to spend more time (and money) on the other hand-made details we wanted to create for our special day.

One idea that came to me instantly was to incorporate buttons into our theme from the invitations, to the favors, to the delicious cake. I’m not an instinctively crafty person, but making button bumble bees was easier than I imagined. Still time consuming; I used yellow and black buttons hot glued together, black jewelry wire twisted into antenna, and tulle fabric cut in the shape of wings threaded through the button holes. It was only fitting to have jars of honey to give away as favors – not just because of the bee idea, but like our love, honey is sweet and has an infinite shelf-life.

We both collaborated our ideas into the wedding invitations and carried on the gingham print design throughout the theme as well. Although it took an intense amount of internet surfing, I couldn’t have been more thrilled to find the navy blue and white gingham flower girl dresses that tied in with the design of the groomsmen’s shirts and the navy blue of the bridesmaids dresses. We had five flower girls of various ages and I wanted to make sure they felt pretty, but comfortable and I love the fact that if they wanted to, they could wear the dress again.

Heather Elizabeth Photography captured every detail beautifully for us to relive the moments and memories forever. I love that you can see the lace detail in my Lea-Ann Belter gown and how the natural light was used to enhance many of the images. Planning from afar didn’t give us the chance to see how everything would go together until the day of the wedding. But, I think we were successful in displaying our vision and most importantly, we enjoyed every second of it!”

Elegant Pastel Wedding

Citing inspiration from the season’s latest color trend, our next wedding is surely to inspire all you spring brides. This elegant pastel wedding was held in South Africa, just outside Nelspruit in the low veld, near the Kruger National Park Gate.

We are head over heels for the soft and flowy bridesmaid dresses, the flower sash on the bride and all the pastel wedding florals. What do you love most?  All beautifully captured by South African wedding photographer Rensche Marie Photography. There really are so many more beautiful photographs in the full wedding gallery. Click here to see them all.

From The Bride:

My inspiration – Initially when my fiancé and I discussed our wedding “theme” we decided that we did not want to be boxed in by a specific theme, color style or rhythm. We wanted the wedding to shine timeless charm with a slight edge to it. Our wedding stationery was inspired by the Magnolia venue (floral wallpaper) and the colours we decided to work with were dove grey and turquoise with a touch of pink.

Since we got married in early October it made sense to focus on a spring floral table set-up complimented by a lot of candle light. The venue allowed for an open plan lay-out  with some of our guests seated on the patio overlooking the beautiful view of the Lowveld.  My mother, sister and aunt stumbled on the bridesmaids dresses shopping one morning and after sending me a picture we knew that nothing else would have looked better than these fabulous airy floral dresses from Forever New.  We had the absolute best florist and after meeting with her and advising on the look of the bridesmaids dresses she immediately understood what we were trying to create on our day,  she sourced the absolute best and most beautiful flowers available during season.

To fit into the timeless charm  I wanted my wedding dress to be classic, comfortable but still show people who I am, we had a traditional church wedding and I knew that my back would be towards our guests the  moment I reached the altar and wanted to make use of the opportunity to display the floral detail on the back of my dress. We used the same floral brooches from the dress in my hair, which complimented the “floral” theme beautifully…

Our wedding day was out of this world with the best weather we could ever have wished for, the food and wine was delicious the band kept guests on their feet until the early hours of the morning and my brand new  hubby and I partied until the very last guest left. It was a dream come true. Of course it helped to have such reliable suppliers and close family and friends helping us with all arrangements, allowing for such a stress free wedding day.

Purple Vintage Wedding Ideas

Kelly and Mike’s wedding was held at the gorgeous Mt. Woodson Castle. Combining vintage and rustic elegance in a perfectly unique way. The ceremony was held in front of the castle and set the tone for the rest of the evening.

From the gorgeous bridesmaids in the floor length purple gowns to the groomsmen in bow ties, to the adorable DIY “Here Comes the Bride” sign, every detail was in unison thanks to San Diego event designer and planner Couture Events. See more purple vintage wedding ideas captured by Dana Grant Photography in the full wedding gallery.

How cute is this lemonade stand? Guests enjoyed purple lemonade and could take their lemonade jars to the bar to personalize them with their own choice of shots or soda. The mason jars also doubled as favors for the guests. Take note of the cute lids with the couples thumbprints as hearts. Way cute!

After the ceremony, guests stepped foot inside of the castle to begin cocktail hour. They were greeted by escort cards tied onto vintage keys and strung across the entrance to create an adorable DIY cocktail welcome display representative of the couple complete with nicknacks, flowers in vintage bottles, pictures of the couple and family, and their moss initials.

Intimate Big Sur Wedding

Elisabeth & James created an intimate, romantic affair in Big Sur to celebrate their nuptials. The day was all about close friends & family–about 45 people attended. Along with daytime hikes and evening parties, family & friends helped assemble floral arrangements, bouquets and boutonnières at a rental Elisabeth & James found through an employee at the Big Sur Bakery. The personal involvement of guests made everything more meaningful. Elisabeth’s first teenage job was working for a florist so she created her own bouquet. Elisabeth is also an artist and created the couple’s invitation with a hand-carved whale stamp which she painted with gouache. Enjoy the rest of this Intimate Big Sur Wedding captured by Kate Harrison. Be sure to see more prettiness in the full wedding gallery.

Elisabeth & James each drove a Karmann Ghia at one point in their lives: it was James’ first car and Elisabeth drove one years ago in San Francisco. After they placed a hopeful ad on craigslist, a new owner of a white Karmann Ghia responded and loaned her car to them for a few hours! They were giddy.

Circus Wedding Ideas

Our next feature was actually a 30th birthday celebration for event designer Lindsey Hartsough for Magnolia Event Design. The ideas were so spectacular and could easily be carried over for a wedding. Lindsey goes on to share how her day was put together and of course give you some fabulous Circus Wedding Ideas. That are glitzy, glamorous and of whole lot of fun.

The ever so fabulous Linda Chaja captured this fun day. You can see so many more photos in the full gallery by clicking here. Let us know what you think about this circus extravaganza.

From Lindsey:

Circus to me evokes fun, childhood, fantasy, beauty and all things wonderful. Being an event designer I find that food is the easiest way to convey a theme to your guests and luckily for me the thought of “Circus/Carnival Food” makes me giddy!  I am a girl who loves to go to carnivals, cicus’ and fairs to experience all the tasty treats that aren’t easy to come by.  I taste a lot of “fancy” food for my clients, but there is nothing like a corn dog, churro, popcorn, cotton candy or a caramel apple.  Because my guests are used to fancy food I thought it would be fun for them to go back to childhood and enjoy lots of tasty treats.  I worked with the chef to “fabulize” the  foods a bit, but really didn’t want to take away from the traditional mindset that these foods convey.

So, what is a birthday without a cake?  To me funfetti cake is childhood all baked up!  There is something unexpected and fun about cutting into a formal cake and finding every cover of the rainbow inside. Jessica created her Salted Caramel Apples and Beet Sugar dyed Truffles. Okay, you may think you have tried a Caramel Apple before, but you haven’t! These little puppies make my mouth water just writing about them. As the birthday girl I would have hoped my friends would have left me one, but NO! Those babies were devoured before I had a chance to grab one for myself… how rude!

A “Lindsey” event isn’t an event without an Open Air Photo Booth… we created a custom backdrop for the booth and was sparkly and super fun. Nick designed the perfect custom layout to match the event perfectly! Who knew that in Nick’s bag of tricks was a professional grade cotton candy maker machine thing? Nick has that little sugar goddess available for rent and let me tell you first hand how much fun it is to have cotton candy at your party… real FUN!

As you see there are a ton of custom cocktails at the party. Lindsey greeted guest with a custom cocktail.

I really love floral tasting drinks and feel in love with Parfait Amour, which is a violet liqueur on one of my trips to Vancouver.   I worked with Josh at Blush to create the perfect signature cocktail for my event.  I wanted something with a violet hue and that had a floral taste.

Lindsey’s Luscious Lavender Sparkler
1 part Pinky vodka (This  vodka is hand blended with violets, rose petals and ten other botanicals),

1 part rose champagne
and a dash of Parfait Amour.
We garnished with fresh mini edible flowers

The idea of carnival food at a wedding at first makes you think ummmm no…but, we love the idea of jazzing it up a bit and making carnival food fancy. Sounds like an episode of Top Chef. What do you think? Would you opt for carnival food at a wedding?

Mossin the super duper fabulous chef at Blush created a custom menu for me and the guests raved about the flavors and treats. We had carnival treats- churros, corndogs, French fries, mac and cheese, burgers,

Rustic Purple Wedding Ideas

Nestldown is located in the redwoods on acres of lushly landscaped property.  This exceptional wedding venue is located just minutes away from the heart of the Silicon Valley in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is pretty much the ideal location for a rustic wedding. Mark and Afton loved this wedding venue so much that they sacrificed other wedding splurges in order to have their wedding here. Yep – it’s that good.

Since most of their budget was spent on the venue,  the decor and details were diy. The bride goes into more detail here about her planning process and of course the bow on the back of her dress. Be sure to see more Rustic Purple Wedding Ideas in the full wedding gallery. All of this prettiness was captured by Christina Diane Weddings.

Vineyard Purple And Yellow Wedding

Andrew proposed to Tara at Disneyland in front of the magic castle. It’s only fitting that the sweet engagement story is woven into their Ojai wedding with little nods to Disneyland. They exchanged vows beneath a majestic oak tree nestled in the center of a vineyard on Tara’s family property, Triple L D Ranch. Surrounded by friends and family, they promised to love each other without fail and continually support each other’s dreams.

What an enchanted wedding captured by one of our Hand-Picked Wedding Vendors Lavender & Twine Photography. Enjoy more of this Vineyard Purple And Yellow Wedding in the full wedding gallery.

Purple Wedding Ideas

Purple really brings a feeling of elegance and beauty. This rich color can be paired with almost any color to make the perfect wedding color palette.

We are loving how our next bride combined this regal color with soft hues of pinks and greens at her relaxed Pennsylvanian garden wedding. Photographed by one of our favorites, Pat Furey Photography. There are more lovely purple wedding ideas in the full wedding gallery for you to peruse.

From The Bride Jocelyn:

Our shutter door escort card holder was actually our florist’s idea, they provided the shutter and placed small votives with flowers around our escort cards. It worked really well with our venue because of the vintage/country feel of the garden where our cocktail hour took place. For our favors, I bought small kraft boxes and stuffed them with moss and 2 daffodil bulbs, then stamped with a custom stamp we had made reading “love blooms” and our monogram. We thought it was a cute idea for our late summer/fall wedding so guests can plant them before winter and have something to remember our wedding by.  I collected vintage photos of our parents and granparents and framed them to display on our guest book table. Our guest book was actually an address box I found on Etsy that was created in our colors.

Old Fashioned Garden Wedding

Jen Rodriguez Photography shared with us this bright and cheery old fashioned garden wedding. Overflowing with seriously pretty wedding bouquets from April Flowers.

In fact, all of the wedding arrangements were pretty amazing. Janine, the bride, wanted an eclectic mix of lustrewear teacups and old bottles to hold a variety of blooms mixed with berries. There are so many more pretty floral pictures in the full gallery for all you pinners here. Love Me Simple created the custom ombre ceremony backdrop that is oh so fabulous.

The bride and groom were married at the Olallieberry Inn in Cambria, CA. It was a destination wedding and the couple wanted to treat their guests, mainly family, for this intimate wedding. The Olallieberry Inn holds a special place in the couple’s heart because this Inn is where the bride Janine’s parents stayed every year when they would visit Cambria. Janine’s father has passed away and being able to not only share this special place with the rest of their family, but to get married there just made the location that much more special. They brought in the talented ladies of Events Redefined to help pull Janine’s vision together.

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

McCormick Home Ranch is an incredible venue, perfect for a bride and groom looking for a backyard wedding feel. Jessica and Kevin had a specific vision in mind for their wedding and pooled their family resources to help bring this vision to life. The groom’s dad created their invitations and all of the signs used at the wedding. Jessica and her mom sewed the table runners for the reception.

Every last detail was considered – even down to the table name holders on the wine bottles, created specially by a friend and shaped into a perfect “J” and “K”. Guests were treated to lawn games (and prizes!) and BBQ. Serious cuteness that was captured by Jenna Marie Photography. Be sure to see more of this McCormick Home Ranch Wedding in the full wedding gallery.

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

Jessica and Kevin did something during their ceremony that you might want to take note of – a love letter ceremony. Both of them wrote one another a love letter, sealed it and, during the ceremony, each placed their sealed letter into a box along with a bottle of wine. The box was then nailed shut by both of their fathers. The box is to be opened on their 25th wedding anniversary.

Glamorous Wedding With Vintage Key Wedding Favors

Aaron Shintaku shared with us this Glamorous Wedding with Vintage Key Wedding Favors. It was held at the Ambassador Mansions and Gardens in Pasadena, CA, the backdrop for the Tournament of Roses Parade. Everything is so incredibly elegant and of course there is so much more to see in the full wedding gallery.

From the bride:
My husband Kyle and I are very much into European Architecture and design and beauty that it entails. We absolutely loved our venue since it felt as if we brought a little bit of elegant old romantic Europe to us both inside the villa and outside in the garden. Of course as a somewhat girly girl I had to find a way to add a piece of my obsession for chandeliers. We hope that our guests felt the same as well.

Glorious Down-Home Inspired Affair by Ulmer Studios

Off to Charlotte we go to visit one of our favorite Tennessee wedding vendors Ulmer Studios for the wedding of Steve & Molly. Filled with celebration with their closest friends & family on the beautiful Tennessee farm venue Front Porch Farms.

Be sure to see more rustic wedding ideas in the full wedding gallery and let us know what you think.

Introducing the most stylish flower girl ever. White eyelet dress, cowgirl boots and of course some teal mini Ray Bans. A look we are serious fans of.

The rich color palette mixed with softer arrangements for the long farm table centerpieces were a great mix of tones. Because of the heavy winds that day, the arrangements needed to be placed in cinder blocks so they could withstand any gusts of wind. The cinder blocks were then wrapped with burlap, which was a cute touch & totally fit in.

Steve & Molly & their friends are musicians, so music was a big part of their day. Their guest gift was a song that Molly sang & Steve produced along with a mix of their other favorite tunes.

Rooftop Wedding Soiree Ideas From Fondly Forever Wedding Photography

A rooftop reception sounds completely lovely, doesn’t it? Especially in these late days of summer. Fondly Forever Photography and Twelve Events designed this romantic set up to give you a little late summer inspiration.

We love all the burlap details; even the wedding bouquet has handmade burlap leaves. We especially appreciate that all the ideas are easy and can easily be replicated. Be sure to see the entire inspirational shoot by clicking here.

From Twelve Events:

“I wanted to incorporate different textures into the theme and bring in burlap details. I knew I wanted to make an invitation with a burlap backing and, from there, different key pieces from the shoot were made out of burlap. The HIS and HERS signs, the votive candles and the flags on the stir sticks were all made of burlap. For the tablescape I wanted to make a bold statement. The china was a vintage collection that I scored right before the shoot!

I wanted to bring in bold colors for the flowers, so incorporating purple Lisanthiums, Billy Balls, deep pink peonies and ranunculus was an even balance without making it overly loud. Another detail I added was burlap leaves to the bouquet (yes, made from burlap!).”

Parker Ranch Wedding Reception From Matthew Morgan Photography

Our next wedding is so jammed packed full of details that we guarantee you are going to love every minute of it. Event designer Tammy Mitchell thought of every last detail. We can already see these beautiful images being pinned and repinned on pinterest. Photographed beautifully by Orange County wedding photographer Matthew Morgan Photography.

Be sure to share with us your favorite detail from this wedding. Perhaps the makeshift theater playing childhood movies,’ the adorable tree swing, or maybe the flash mob first dance. You must see all the images in the full wedding gallery by clicking here.

Mini cabbages, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums and every other purple flower you can dream up filled the wedding reception. Floral Design By Lindi did an over the top job. Everything looks beautiful.

We love the idea of having a gourmet S’mores Bar. Even the handi-wipes were wrapped in burlap and tied with twine. The roasting sticks were thoughtfully wrapped with purple bows and all the yummy treats you could think of were ready to be roasted. Hello details.

Cozy blankets and a burlap lined log made the perfect location for a Smores roasting station. It is also the perfect place to unwind after a long day of wedding festivities. Yes … there is a bit more to this detail packed wedding.

An outdoor cinema was set up for the kiddos. Complete with boxes of pop-corn, movie treats and hay barrels to lounge on. An instant entertainment center for all of our littlest friends. Love It!

The first dance was flash mob dance routine! We would have loved to see that. There are so many more details to this wedding that you must see in the full wedding gallery. More flowers, wedding goodies and eye candy for you to swoon over.

San Luis Obispo Family Tree Wedding From Ken Kienow

Before we dive into this wedding, we highly suggest that you read all the details from Jessica, the bride. After reading her wedding story, we all felt like we knew her. Jessica and her mom, who are DIY junkies to the core took this wedding and made it a rustic masterpiece.

From the flower boxes for centerpieces to the honey locust tree favors and so much more. You simply must see all the images from this wedding by clicking here. The San Luis Obispo wedding was  beautifully captured by Ken Kienow.

The couple has loved how trees grow for years and years, always getting stronger. Seasons may change, leaves may fall, but the tree grows and grows. The roots get deeper. The core wider. It lives for years to come. The couple saw their life as a seed planted, and our life together as a tree that will withstand anything and grow on forever.

Congratulations Jessica and Trevor on your wedding. Be sure to see so many more details in our full wedding gallery.

Light Hearted Yet Elegant Alabama Wedding

It is so refreshing when we see a wedding hand-crafted by a bride that is doable. Lindsay, the bride, never considered herself a particularly crafty person, but like a lot of you out there the wedding DIY  bug hit her and she begin to plan and craft.

She took on many of the thoughtful touches such as the guest book, programs, menus, seating chart, signage, toss cones, welcome bags and table numbers. All of this with a full time job. Read more about their elegant Alabama wedding by clicking here. Be sure to see the full wedding gallery photographed by Jessica Wright Photography.

One idea that we think you might like is in lieu of sending the guests home with a wedding favor, you can make a donation to your favorite charity. Lindsay and Rob honored their guests by making a contribution to The American Red Cross in support of the Alabama Tornado Relief fund.

Art Deco Wedding by Megan Ann Photography

Monika & Joe were married in downtown San Diego at the The Ultimate Skybox. Their vision from the beginning was a travel/art deco/old Hollywood affair with closest family and friends. Monika designed every detail, including all of the flower arrangements.

Since Monika is from Poland they incorporated the Polish tradition of presenting two shot glasses to the bride and groom. One containing water and the other containing vodka. Whoever picked the vodka is said to “wear the pants in the relationship.” You can tell by the photos who found the vodka.

Stylish Lake Tahoe Wedding

You are going to love our next wedding.

The bride is a lovely photographer who was featured here: Courtney Wilson Photography. The groom I happen to know personally and is childhood friend of mine. So, it is quite lovely that I get to showcase this wedding. It does not hurt that Courtney and Sean’s wedding is filled with thoughtful details and personal touches.

To read more from Courtney on how they pulled off this vintage inspired Lake Tahoe wedding click here. Of course there a ton of more beautiful photos to check out.

Steal Worthy Idea:

One of our favorite details was the place cards. We searched the internet for any pictures we could find of our guests. Using the beauty of facebook, we found snapshots, from safe to totally embarrassing, but if it was on the web, it was fair game! We turned them into Polaroids and with DIY magnets favors including vintage pictures of Lake Tahoe. Guests were laughing hysterically when they saw their old prom photos and Halloween costumes from years past as their place card. We’re still hearing comments about them!

Homemade South African Wedding By Jacki Bruniquel

Bo is a Californian girl who fell in love with a South African boy and got married at the most beautiful gorge on the South Coast of Natal.

Against all advice, Bo went with a red and purple theme and spent many hours on all the details. She had a very clear vision of what she wanted and actually made most the pretty details in this wedding herself (roping in family and friends of course).

When she couldn’t find red polka dot fabric for the little girl’s dresses, she just made them herself! This lovely Homemade South African Wedding is captured by Jacki Bruniquel Photography.

Reno, Nevada Handmade Wedding

Let’s start out our Monday right with a, seriously cute handmade wedding from Reno, Nevada Photographer Courtney Wilson Photography.

You are going to love all the details made with love from Cindy, the bride, who personalized her wedding with her passion for ‘from scratch’ creations and took DIY to a whole new level. The majority of the desserts and the favors are from scratch, as well as most of the decorations. Sit back relax and enjoy this handmade extravaganza and be sure to read Cindy’s blog, Hungry Girl Porvida. She has some tasty treats going on.

To see all the juicy handmade wedding details click here

From Cindy, the bride on her homemade wedding adventure

With the help of my fabulous friends and family, I was able to do so much DIY! I really think that the hands-on aspect of this really made the day and all of the details that much more special. Most of the decor was hand-made, some was thrifted, and some things were items that we have in our home. We literally sewed yards and yards of fabric flags, not to mention the bow ties for all of the guys. Baking the desserts was really the only option for me, I not only felt like I had to but I really, really wanted to! Most of my family and friends know about my blog and many haven’t tried anything that I’ve made, so this was really a time for me to share with them. A lot of people told me that I would be overwhelmed by all the tasks I took on, and though it was a whirlwind of baking, crafting, canning, and sewing in the weeks and days before the wedding, I really wouldn’t have it any other way.

Classic Malibu Wedding

Michelle & Barrett had a relaxed wedding at The Adamson House in Malibu. Michelle was inspired by a small vignette of succulents, shells and crystallized rock that they placed on their head table. They brought in the laid back and relaxed feeling of the beach with turquoise & purple accents, a lounge for guests to relax and flowing organic florals. Barrett & Michelle took on quite a bit on their own. Barrett handmade all of the beer at their home. Michelle handmade grapefruit liquor from the grapefruit tree at their newly purchased home. The labels, coordinating with the rest of the paper materials, fit the theme perfectly. As they are both from the east coast, they really wanted all of their out of town guests to feel comfortable. To have fun. To be able to relax. It was the perfect event for just that. Relaxed. Fun.

Budget Friendly Backyard Wedding

Athena and Jeremy wanted their wedding to reflect who they are as a couple and stick to their budget. Athena found her dress at a small boutique in Eastern Washington a month before the wedding. It was the only dress she tried on and of course it fit perfectly. Talk about meant to be!

In order to stick to their budget, they choose a friend’s backyard for the celebration. Athena and Jeremy wanted that family picnic feeling, so they used a friend’s collection of vintage table cloths and mason jars for vases. The flowers for the vases and wedding were purchased from Pike’s Place Market that morning by family and friends. The whole day turned out perfectly and was beautifully captured by The Leekers.

The bride and groom decided to have friends leave a fingerprint on their wedding tree in two shades of green. They had it framed and is currently hanging in their living room, a sweet reminder of their lovely day! A fun and unique wedding guest book idea that is easy to make and budget friendly.

Minnesota Lilac and Green Wedding Ideas

Happy Thursday and thank you for visiting our little wedding blog. We are thrilled to share with you a little Minnesota wedding from one of our very own preferred vendors, Geneoh Photography. Jamie is a event coordinator for USA Hockey and Ryan is a forward for the Edmonton Oilers.

They met in college and from the very beginning Ryan knew Jamie was going to be his wife, super love when that happens. They got married at Noerenberg Gardens and had there reception at grandparents house on Lake Minnetonka.

From The Bride

We wanted to show all of our guests why we love Minnesota so much. Why we call Lake Minnetonka home. So we did just that. We had and outdoor tent party. We catered Famous Dave’s because Ryan wanted ribs, chicken, salmon, mashed potatoes and vegetables. I didn’t want the typical red and white checked barbecue so I rented white ceramic platters, bowls, and stainless steel serving utensils from Apres and made it an eloquent summer barbecue. We had family and friends fly in from all over the U.S. and Canada. To honor our Canadian relatives, the Canadian National Anthem was played during fireworks. I cut and glued Canadian Maple Leafs on all the clothes pins that held the seating cards. We also hung a Canadian flag on the flag pole outside my parent’s house.

I am a perfectionist so my wedding was all about little details. We had a week of time line and a day of schedule. Everything ran on time and we were even ahead of schedule. Green maple leafs, hockey pucks as table numbers (spray painted sliver with green ribbons and green table numbers), decorated bathrooms, fans at the ceremony in case guests got hot, great food, a DJ that knows how to keep the party going.

I wouldn’t change anything about our Wedding. Ryan let me make it everything I could have dreamed of. Most of the day was a surprise for him, I didn’t involve or waste his time in the little decisions. And at the end of the night he pulled me aside, kissed me and said thank you for making this the best day of my life, I have dreamed about our wedding for a long time and you blew my dreams away and made this day so much more than what I ever could have imagined.

Sweeter Than Honey California Wedding

From start to finish this wedding is the bees knees. You are literally going to go gaga over all the juicy details that Sara and Brian have in store for you. Effortlessly captured by the incredibly talented Mi Belle Photography who always seems to amaze us with their over the top weddings. The event and design are seriously beautiful thanks to Amber Events and wait until you see the florals, they are to die for. Peony & Plum Floral Design hand painted vintage milk cartons to give it that extra added touch.

Sit back relax and enjoy some a truly sweet wedding and be sure to read on for Sara shares with us this masterpiece came together.

The antique Cameo was my Great Grandmas. When she was alive I would look in stare at that cameo, I thought it was and is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. My Great Grandma passed away when I was a senior in high school, and ever since then I dreamed about wear her cameo on my wedding day. That day my grandma brought it, the box in the picture is actually the original box she received the cameo in. It meant the world to me to wear something of her’s with such meaning to me- made me feel that she was by my side on our special day.

From the Bride:
Brian and I meet in college across a parking lot and hit it off from the start. Once, we were engaged the planning began. I knew I wanted a outdoor/rustic wedding, like the ones you see in the wedding magazines. But, I was fearful I would  not be able to pull it altogether. When we meet Amber we totally hit it off and knew she got the vision of the wedding. She got us in touch with our amazing vendors and we were able to pull off a great day.

Up to the month before the wedding, I still was not sure that it all would look put together. The week before when I saw my dress, the honey jars, the chalkboards, the flowers, and linens, I could breathe knowing the day would look amazing. The theme of Bees evolved over the weeks before the wedding through my mom and I (Both of us are teachers so creativity and ideas are always within our conversations), we thought honey “bee sweet take one” and”Eat drink and Bee married”.

Throughout the wedding planning process etsy became an obsession, thus the vintage milk carrier that held our wishing cards, tree stump ring holder, and the wood signs in the front of the venue. When the day came, everything was perfect and I was calm.

Brian and I had a Blast ! Everything came together in a rustic/elegant manner in our flowers, signs, drinks (vodka lemonade),dress, and venue. All of our friends had a blast and danced the night away and we only get great reviews about the day. At the end of the night Brian and I got in the limo to go to the Lagham, and it was pure silence. We started to laugh, we both were soo exhausted and happy (all at the same time), we could not believe how amazing everything was and how perfect it came out-Truly was the greatest day of my life!

Thanks Amber, Mi Belle Photography, and Peony & Plum Flowers, we could not have pulled it off without all of you! xoxo- Sara

Deep Purple Rustic Wedding Ideas

We have some serious rustic table decor inspiration from Love Spun Events that is going to make your head spin. It’s overflowing with ideas that will inspire you for your own whimsical wedding.

Love Spun Events collaborated with some of Atlanta’s finest wedding vendors to bring you this innovative and breath taking set up. Project Duo came in and caught every detail for your viewing pleasure and the stunning paper details were designed by Foglio Press. Of course the florals that are beyond gorgeous are thanks to The Savage Garden.

Read on to learn more about this stunning shot and how it came to life.

From Love Spun Events

The last wedding I attended as a guest, was just beautiful. It was very touching and went along seamlessly. In fact, everything was flawlessly thought out, except for one little detail: the reception tables were bare. And believe me, trying to maintain a conversation with a table of strangers during an hour-long dinner would have been a lot easier with something to talk about!

That was the inspiration of our table: to create a visual discovery – and a thought-provoking conversation starter. To achieve this, I wanted to incorporate two of my favorite wedding dècor trends: whimsical and rustic. Both trends are so eye-catching to begin with but we wanted to harness the two together to create something really magical. To start, we used a beautiful, weathered plank of wood as the table runner. We kept the linens neutral to highlight the unique elements on the table and the intricate, slate gray plates from Anthropologie added a welcome pop of color.

Sarah from Foglio Press created gorgeous invitations and menus that fit our vision perfectly, giving the table a touch of opulence. Then, to add texture, we created DIY plate dècor by binding wild bird feathers and twigs together with mesh ribbon. And for fun, we placed her precious place settings on top of Spanish moss and lichen-filled sherbet cups.

For the floral elements, I enlisted my dear friend Danny Wilson of  The Savage Garden. His work is always innovative and breathtaking and this was no exception. Each element he incorporated; a bird’s nest filled with grapes, purple cabbage nestled between twisting branches, weathered pots filled with exotic flowers – even a pin cushion in the shape of an antique doll – is sure to engage the senses and spark conversation

On the dessert menu: mouth-watering miniature pies made by Taria at Highland Bakery. (And they were the perfect reward post-shoot!!) We incorporated an antique drawer and over sized spools to showcase the pies in an unexpected way and a small bunch of deep red peonies and candles lended romantic flair to the display.

I love to mix and match chairs to give tables a unique look, so I knew I wanted to do something extra special for the seating elements. The refinished church pew mixed with unique chairs was the finishing touch to our whimsical and rustic vision.

San Francisco Cosmopolitan Wedding

Michelle & Abdulla had a modern wedding in San Francisco, California at the DeYoung Museum The overall colors were the base of champagne and cream hues with bold, contrasting accents of chocolate brown and deep aubergine-plum, a rich pallet that was inspired by the exterior facade of the DeYoung Museum structure itself. A fun fact about these traveling love birds – they have relocated to Abu Dhabi.

For an even sweeter day, add honey to your overall wedding look and feel. There are so many adorable ideas that you can personalize and make your own that involve the buzzing bee. Here are a few garden wedding ideas that involve the sweet treat from Krissy McCabe Photography.

How about supporting local beekeepers and purchasing honey from them for a more eco friendly approach. If you are planning to incorporate candles into your wedding ceremony or reception, definitely consider going with beeswax. The possibilities are endless.

An Arizona Desert Wedding

I have to say that the location for our next wedding is quite breathtaking. There is something about the desert that draws you in and gives you feeling of peace and tranquility.

There are so many more beautiful photographs taken by the utterly fabulous orange county wedding photography duo, Erin Hearts Court Photography. You definitely have to jump over to their blog and check them out here. Get ready to enjoy Sean and Moira’s Arizona wedding where the cactus are blooming and the sun is shining.

Moira had two different wedding looks. Both of her dresses overflowed with beaded details. The first look was a lace up corset designed by Maggie Sottero. Beautifully complimented by a vintage inspired head band. A soft and romantic look with a bit of old fashion flair.

Susan Ruddie did all alterations on the second dress. She also is he one with the inspiration to use the feathers that were almost the same color as my hair which was the perfect accent and not too much.

What a fabulous Arizona wedding venue. Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort is filled with desert charm. They also offer lodging and hiking trails and horseback riding are at your doorstep. A wonderful idea for out of town guests or a destination wedding.

We also wanted to show you one more view of Moira’s second wedding look because it is oh so breathtaking. The feathered hair piece is from a “Wedding Dresser” in Brooklyn. It was made just for the bride and her dress. Totally custom but really affordable! You can find her by clicking here.

A Dreamy Proposal In Santa Barbara

I am not sure if you remember our last feature from Nico Designs, let us just say it is a must see. You can view it by clicking here.

Well, in a nut shell he is an off-the-hook event and floral designer who dreams up some fabulous events. Our next feature is a dream sequence created, designed, and produced and styled by Nico.

This is tale of a young man, so in love with his girl, that he want to propose to her in the most romantic way possible. He invites her to a secret place, where he leaves little hints and notes for her to follow until she gets to him. When she finally sees her love after a journey down a rustic dirt road, he is waiting for with flowers, a horse, and a sign that says, “Will You Marry Me?”.

Nico brought the indoors out, creating a living room scene, complete with seating, a foliage filled floral table, candles, and Champagne. Lanterns hang to offer warm, soft lighting, and the newly engaged happy couple embarks on a romance-filled evening.

There is no detail spared in this fantasy proposal as she arrives in a silver Rolls-Royce, is dressed to a tee, and will sip Perrier Jouet, against the juxtaposed pastoral backdrop of the trees and rustic furnishings. Tiny signs and quotes of love adorn organic decor and complete a sweet and stunning show of love and commitment.

The bouquet, the floral adornment in the drawers of the table, a single monochromatic bud on a plate, an antique box mixed with a more contemporary tabletop and all of the hanging details are what Nico specializes in, be it his creations for styled shoots or for a client’s party or wedding. Talent lies in those who can make the most of the little things and this is the story Nico was looking to depict. There are fine things in life, but it is the smallest touches that mean so much.

London Garden Wedding

An incredibly super pretty wedding from London Photographer Marianne Taylor. Below is bit about Jonny and Amy wedding.

Amy’s gorgeous dress and veil were by Amanda Wakely Sposa and her beautiful hair bloom, an ivory feather peony which I absolutely l-o-v-e-d, was designed and made by Yasmin Rizvi. Her perfectly imperfect hair was carefully teased into place by Victoria Boorman and her make up was done by Vicky Snepp from Space NK in Tunbridge Wells.

The reception was held in a marquee decorated beautifully with flower arrangements made by a family friend, Judy Debenham (who was responsible for the gorgeous bouquets as well), and lots of personal touches, such as the cute lavender bags made by Amy’s mum and the napkins which were made by Amy herself from fabric off-cuts from Cabbages and Roses gorgeous fabrics.

Each piece was hand selected to match the color scheme, silver Jordan almonds along with the perfect purple m&m’s. All of the tasty goodies sat atop custom wooden boxes that were whitewashed specifically for the dessert table.

The cake truffles are one of Lisa Raffael’s, Delicous Desserts trademark confections, and were topped with white chocolate shavings and edible glitter. The cookies were simple sugar cookies, topped with the same edible glitter and a custom created frosting to match the rest of the table.

Purple Fairytale Wedding

I know we have seen a lot of Alice in Wonderland shoots, but this one has a purple spin and we know you all love purple. So we had to share. (; I’m also a sucker for a Rivini Gown.

Read on to hear from the creative team!
A darling “Welcome to our Wonderland” sign hung from a tree in the entrance of the garden. The sign was created using hand white-washed wood that was laser etched with Victorian graphics.

Lindsey Luxa of Dragonfly Custom Design created the invitation suite. Once opened, an antique pewter key gives you a hint that you are in for something magical. Lindsey nestled the beautiful invitation in a silk box constructed of deep purple and iridescent green silks. The body of the invitation was set on a deep purple silk pad with a layer of iridescent green silk, natural fiber paper and dark purple paper. To further tie it into Alice in Wonderland, she used subtle clocks and teapot imagery. Guests are also reminded, “Don’t be late for a Very Important Date”.

A garden tea party underneath a rooftop peppered with manzanita branches, crystals and orchids is right up my alley. For our Alice in Wonderland Photo Shoot, we were so inspired by our environment that we decided to bring the natural elements of the garden not only onto the table but above the table as well. In addition to our organic chandelier, we created an natural structure made of driftwood, intense purple hydrangea clusters and ivory roses paved along the edge. For our charming setting, we scoured all over Miami to find unique vintage tea sets. Mixing and matching sets adds so much character to a table – perfect for a bohemian chic vibe. To top it off, we set an antique pendulum clock indicating the table number for that Alice in Wonderland touch.

California Beach Wedding Venue

Troy Grover Photography shared with us this incredible beach wedding venue that is a perfect spot if you are looking to have a vintage inspired wedding.

Casino San Clemente was built in 1937, and is an icon of North Beach and an official City Historic Landmark. The historical society worked extremely hard to make sure that this charming building stayed with the city of San Clemente.

Read on to learn about this inspiring shoot.

Found provided the event decor and props to make everything looking super beautiful. If you want to learn more about renting vintage furniture we did a little feature on Found not too long ago. If you would like to learn more you can click here.

From The Vendors:

Casino San Clemente is incredibly charming. While working with the design team, we all discovered that we shared a passion for bringing modern and vintage elements together.

While the Casino is a grand space to work in, we fell in love with a cozy little space off to the side that was home to a large, brick, wood burning fireplace. We set our feasting table under the whimsy of a mature tree….the kind that are made for sprawling out your favorite blanket and curling up with a good book.

Aly of The Vine’s Leaf created lush florals bursting with color and yummy fresh cut fruit. We added vintage china and candelabras that reminded you of Sunday dinners at your grandmother’s house.

Our furniture and decor pieces were truly vintage and we absolutely adored each crack, chip, and tear that told the story of their history. Countless hours were spent collecting these rare finds. Jeni Maus of “Found” Vintage Furniture Rental who is responsible for hand selecting and caring for all of the gorgeous pieces that made us feel like we had created the sitting room of our dreams!

As the sun began to set we let the romantic elements take the lead. Sultry, deep red florals in vintage canisters and over sized, tufted chairs to sink in to. This look was influenced by the glamorous performers who took the stage night after night in the early days of the Casino’s history. The fireplace took center stage with a garland of deep red roses, candlelight and vintage frames for creating your own moments to remember. ”

Intimate Minnesota Wedding

We are whisked away this Wednesday to Red Wing, Minnesota for the wedding of Hattie and Dave. Shot by the adorable Emily Steffen Photography. We have a special place in our hearts for Emily. She was one of the attendees of our first Stylelab Workshop.

Hattie and Dave had an intimate wedding at the St. James hotel in Red Wing MN. Bird touches were carried throughout from the paper details to the tasty cupcakes. To complete the look and feel Hattie wore a gorgeous dress by Sophia Tolli. A crisp black suit and white vest and tie adds a little vintage flair to Dave’s look. They both look smashing, don’t you think?

I know the boutonniere and bouquet caught your eye. They are realistic faux flowers by an Etsy designer. Ardesigns creates some pretty spectacular pieces. I had no idea they were faux flowers until I visited her site. Well done!
