Whimsical Cape Cod Wedding: Sarah & Nathan’s Rustic & Colorful Celebration

Share

Happy wedding couple holding hands outdoors

One sunny summer day in New England Sarah and Nathan said “I Do” in a woodsy outdoor ceremony surrounded by their friends and family. Overbrook House in Cape Cod, Massachusetts was the perfect setting for this carefree couple to tie the knot. DIY decorations along with colorful florals from CMS Flora added splashes of color that popped against the rustic setting.
To see more details from this colorful Cape Cod wedding head to the full gallery here, all beautifully captured by Mary Costa Photography.

From Mary Costa Photography:Sarah and Nathan wanted their day to be whimsical, romantic, and carefree – just like them! They put a huge amount of thought into the details of their wedding, which took place at the woodsy Overbrook House on Cape Cod.

From the Bride:Something that might not have been obvious to most guests was our beer choices: they all reflected special places to us. For example, we served Sam Adams from Jamaica Plain (where we live now – 5 min from SA brewery!), Cisco from Nantucket (where Nathan grew up), Session lager from Portland, OR (where Sarah’s dad’s family is from) and Abita from New Orleans (where Sarah worked with Oxfam for 5 years following hurricane Katrina, and city we’ve both fallen in love with and with each other in). The Redbones BBQ meal was a nod to that as well!

I love how the dinner tent pictures turned out. The tables were so beautiful! So much of the day is a blur (including the place settings I so lovingly OBSESSED over for months) so it’s beyond wonderful having these photos to go back and enjoy.

More on the plates: I scoured flea markets, antique stores and thrift shops for a full year before our wedding – collecting all the mismatched dinner and dessert plates. We also collected glass vases and mason jars in different shapes and sizes for the dinner tables. It was actually a really fun scavenger hunt!

The set-up and all the little details were a work of love! My aunt, bridesmaids, friends and their sweet husbands, helped us decorate the dance hall the night before the wedding. Nath and I had been collecting all the postcards and vintage stuff for months, and wasn’t sure how it was all going to come together.

Once we were in the space, everything just unfolded and the vision came to life. I’m a neurotic perfectionist, so we spent hours staging it one way, then trying something new. It was all worth it though. The atmosphere was so magical! (When I think about our wedding week, these were some of my favorite moments: feeling enveloped in love and support).
