LGBTQ+ Wedding Planning Tips: Find the Right Vendors & Celebrate!

Tips  From LGBTQ+ Wedding Photographer Celeste Burns

Planning a wedding as an LGBTQ+ couple can be scary and overwhelming! No human should ever have to preface a wedding vendor inquiry with, “By the way, we are a same-sex couple in case that matters to you.”

You deserve to be proud, confident, and certain that your vendors will go above and beyond to make your day special.

Hire LGBTQ+ Professionals

First thing is first – seek out the wedding professionals that are also part of the LGBTQ+ community. There are plenty of LGBTQ+ professionals – photographers, floral designers, wedding planners, officiants, you name it! Ask around Facebook and Instagram and you are sure to find many options.

Find a team Who Travels

Don’t forget that many wedding vendors will travel! Not finding anyone that you vibe with? That’s okay – there are still many options so don’t lose hope.

Look for publications that specialize in LGBTQ+ weddings

The next step is to hunt for representation. Check out publications that specialize in LGBTQ+ weddings or that feature photographs of LGBTQ+ couples and see what vendors they tag.

Representation is important and if they can showcase diversity, it proves they are an ally. Last thing to remember – trust your gut! I personally believe that it is best to meet up your vendors in person (or over video chat) before booking to make sure you and your fiancé click with the person. That way, you can feel much better about how all of your vendors will support you during your day.
