Wedding vows in snow, couple in front of a wooden structure

There is something so dreamy about winter weddings–the contrast of evergreens against the blanket of fresh white snow, the rosy cheeks, and the decedent layers of faux fur and velvets. This Colorado photographer lives for winter elopements and this wedding in Ouray captures all of the amazing things a winter elopement has to offer–beauty and adventure. From exploring the snow-covered remnants of the big gold rush to snow-shoeing together through the forest, this destination elopement is something that this couple will cherish forever.

When it comes to planning your destination elopement, Vows and Peaks is a one-stop-shop–planner/photographer. These photos by Sean Oblizalo of Vows and Peaks capture every candid moment between the couple and their incredible surroundings and Bridal Veil Floral created the stunning bouquet and boutonniere. To see all of the photos from this epic elopement, check out the full gallery. Read on to hear more from Sean Oblizalo of Vows and Peaks about what a destination elopement could look like for you!

A MAGICAL DESTINATION

You don’t need to go far in Colorado to find America’s Swiss Alps. Ouray is one of the best places to elope in Colorado and in the winter it feels like you’re in your very own snow globe! Jordan and Stephanie flew out from Chicago to explore this amazing area for their elopement. We started out with an epic first look followed by a snow-shoeing adventure and capped it off with an amazing sunset.

A LITTLE ADVENTURE

Summer is obviously the most popular season for elopements, but winter makes for some breathtaking views and awesome adventures. Ouray was a big mining area and still has remnants of its gold rush days just outside of town. Exploring this area in the winter really made for an awesome adventure and epic photos. Exploring and showing off this area to two midwesterners was something I won’t forget!
