A vineyard wedding powered by Aperol spritzes and wild party vibes

fun wedding party

Payton and Brandon met in high school, and from that point on, Payton knew she'd never go another day without laughing. Described fondly by their friends as "quirky, fun-loving idiots," this bride and groom brought the fun for their Oregon wedding at Furioso Vineyards. When planner, Bridal Bliss, asked Payton what she wanted to remember most from the day, she said: The vibe, the support of their friends and family, and the party! And boy did this wedding deliver. Keep scrolling to hear more about how this couple's wedding came to life, all captured on a mix of Photography by Emily Woodruff Photography with the help of Christina Whittlesey Photograph.

The power of black and white portraits

Photographers captured the beginning of the wedding day on stunning black and white film, which perfectly complemented the white bridal gown and black bridesmaids dresses chosen for the bridal party by Payton. Opting to capture some of the day in black and white created a timeless, classic set of memories.

Making black bridesmaid dresses interesting

Black bridesmaid dresses don't only have to be in silk. Payton's bridal party donned dresses in a variety of materials, pattern, and textures, including: sequins, feathers, velvet, silk, and removable puffy sleeves. The looks were completed by hair and makeup courtesy of 7th Day Beauty.

Start with a beautiful canvas instead of a blank space

When choosing a venue, bride Payton was focused on finding a venue that was beautiful on its own so there would be no need to completely transform an empty space or blank canvas. Furioso Vineyards was that perfect venue, full of beautiful scenery and photo-ops that the bride and her vendors (including Arden Event Collective) just needed to add a few small, customized details to in order to truly make it their own.

An all-black dress code for the guests

The couple's ceremony space didn't need extravagant additions to create a celebratory atmosphere. The joy radiating from the couple and their families paired with the stunning background scenery and soft trees was all they needed! A gorgeous contemporary touch was for the couple to request their guests wear only black, which created a beautiful continuity throughout their photos.

After-the-fact advice from the bride

"Vet your vendors! Do extensive research and chat with them before. Make sure you as a couple vibe with their work and with them as a person. It took a lot of time up front, but because I knew the people I was working with and loved their work, I didn’t have a single worry along the way!"

Take a private moment to eat

The wedding day itself gets very busy very quickly. It's important to take a private moment to pause and enjoy the delicious food you spent so much time selecting! This couple chose a delicious meal (including wood-fired pizzas) by Wooden Heart Kitchen, and a custom wedding cake courtesy of Custom Cakes NW.

Sunset-inspired florals pop against a black backdrop

With a backdrop of classic black and gorgeous hardwood, the couple's sunset-inspired florals by Wildflower Portland popped against the backdrop. Complementing the lighter elements of the hardwood while also standing out against the darker black attire, the colors were perfect for morning, noon, and night lighting.
