Creating A Tropical Paradise

tropical wedding inspiration

It's amazing what florals can do. This couple dreamed of a wedding in the tropics and while La Costa, California certainly has tropical elements like perfect weather and sky-high palms, to look at these photos, you'd think that this wedding took place on an island. From the vibrant ceremony arch to the hanging palm frond arrangements and monstera leaf accents, the florals completely transported them and their guests to a dreamy tropical destination. Crisp white orchids and the groom's lei garland also add to the island ambiance.

With its bright white walls, terracotta tiles, and wide open green spaces, Botanica was the perfect venue for this dreamy wedding and the florals by Studio Fleurish were the icing on the cake. We can't get enough of these bright and airy photos by Jade Maria Photography. Keep reading to hear more about all of the incredible vendors that went into making this couple's dream wedding a reality.

KEEPING IT NATURAL

tropical wedding inspiration

Patrick and Jaime’s wedding day began at the luxurious Omni Resort in La Costa, CA. Latisha Marcum styled Jaime's hair in a romantic updo with a braid, and Shelby Henry created the most beautiful natural makeup look that went perfectly with her classic Grace Loves Lace gown. After sharing an intimate first look, they headed to their wedding venue, Botanica, a slice of tropical paradise in Southern California.

TROPICAL ELEGANCE

Jaime and Patrick love to travel to tropical destinations, so they had always envisioned a similar feel for their wedding day. Working with their florist, Studio Fleurish, they created a theme of modern tropical elegance, using lush green palm leaves and ferns, with pops of white and pink flowers. The bridesmaids’ blush pink Show Me Your Mumu dresses paired perfectly with the delicate bouquets and stood out against the rich green backdrop. Sticking with the relaxed vibe for the day, the groom and groomsmen wore Generation Tux tan suits with no tie.

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

Including fun details like custom tropical cocktails named after their dog and napkins with his face, organic locally made soap bars from Encinitas Soap Co as guest favors, and offering a Baked Bear ice cream sandwich bar for their guests later in the evening was a must for them. Local bakery, VG Donuts, provided a dessert bar and a cake with a classic design featuring white orchids.

A HEARTFELT TRIBUTE

Patrick sadly lost his mother to cancer in 2012, so it was incredibly important to have her be a part of their wedding day in some way. During the ceremony, Patrick’s brothers carried down a photo of her, then placed it in the first aisle where she would have been seated. During the reception, Patrick danced with his sister, Hailey for the traditional Mother/Son dance in honor of their mom. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the room. Jaime and Patrick definitely achieved their goal of transporting their guests to a tropical oasis with a carefree, easygoing vibe. From start to finish, it was truly a day to remember.

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM THE HAPPY COUPLE

Our best piece of advice would be to schedule some alone time. The entire day went by so fast, but because we took most of our portraits before our ceremony, we were able to slow down and have some amazing time together, just the two of us, during cocktail hour.

SOME TIPS FROM THE PRO

1. Work with your photographer and coordinator to create a timeline that makes the most out of your day and ensures that you will have enough time to focus on moments that are important to you.

2. Choose a venue that provides the type of backdrop that will easily tie into the theme or feel of your wedding

3. Remember that not everything will go to plan, and that's okay!
