This Blush And Gold Boho Chic Wedding For 28K Will Warm Your Heart

sweet bride and groom first look

When you have been waiting to marry your best friend for more than six years your emotions are bound to get the best of you. But only happy tears were shed at Leah and Jeffery's beautiful boho chic wedding at Avalon Legacy Ranch. A few from the bride as she composed herself to walk down the aisle, and several from all the guests that witnessed a heartfelt ceremony. But tears were soon dried and forgotten as soon as the beat dropped at the reception.

Happy Wedding Tears

From Julep Events: Leah and Jeffrey had been together for four and a half years and engaged for two and a half, so this wedding was a long time coming and they couldn't have been more excited or more ready to say "I do." They chose the beautiful Avalon Legacy Ranch in McKinney and let it inspire their ceremony, which was officiated by Leah's brother-in-law and focused on the idea of their legacy as a couple.

The entire day's festivities were to be held outside, and in true Texas fashion the weather ended up being totally unlike what was predicted: temperatures were dropping quickly. While everyone else kept an eye on the near-freezing temperatures, Leah just smiled and said, "I'm marrying my best friend, and that's what matters." That joy and excitement and love carried her to the altar to meet Jeffrey, where they read each other the most beautiful, touching vows that left everyone else in tears.

Dry Your Eyes It's Time To Dance

After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed dinner on the beautiful deck overlooking the gardens and some of Leah and Jeffrey's nearest and dearest paid moving tribute to them through toasts. By the time Leah and Jeffrey cut their cake - a two-tiered bundt cake from Leah's bakery - everyone was ready to party!

The DJ played all night long and kept the party going, and by the end, everyone was dancing and having so much fun that no one noticed the freezing temperatures. Throughout the day, there was so much emotion: so many prayers and happy tears, and above all, so much pure joy. Leah and Jeffrey left their beautiful wedding knowing that their new lives had begun and that they have so many people who are going to love and support them through it all.

Bridal Advice:

Hiring a wedding planner was one of the best decisions I made. Early on in the planning, we weren't sure if we had the budget to hire a planner but with how ADHD I am, I KNEW I would forget something major. Plus I didn’t want to be a ball of stress walking down the aisle on my wedding day. Jenny with Julep Events made everything perfect leading up to the wedding and day of, I was SO happy that I spent the money on a wedding planner, it is worth it!

Our wedding was outdoor and in late October, so fall weather was expected... Well, we live in Texas, so you could have any kind of weather. A week before the wedding I checked the weather and it predicted rain.. that was the first and last time I looked at the weather. I just prayed and prayed that it wouldn’t rain because it was an outdoor wedding. It ended up being a beautiful, sunny day with a high of 50 degrees and lows in the 30s. It was cold, but our amazing venue had heaters out on the porch for the reception and it was perfect.

My trendy bridesmaids made a Target run before the wedding and found these amazing fur coats and we all ended up wearing them for the reception, it was perfect and my girls were warm!

On the day of the wedding, I sat back, relaxed and drank (lots of) champagne. That’s really all you can do. I wasn’t worried about anything because the day was here!

All of my months of planning would fall perfectly together and it really did. It was a dream.

If there were any disasters my planner and bridesmaids did a GREAT job of not letting me find out.

Budgeting

At the beginning of wedding planning we wanted to spend no more than $15,000 but when it was all said and done, we spent $28,000.

If you are paying for your wedding yourself, start saving your money as soon as you get engaged, or even before.

If you are like me and terrible at saving money, start praying now that your husband is good with finances and budgeting. Jeffrey was very disciplined at putting money into the wedding fund with every paycheck. Me on the other hand…not so much.

In all honesty, you don’t realize how much everything costs until you really get into planning your wedding. Between the venue, flowers, and photography I was already at $15,000 and those were the first things booked (cue heart failure from my 'budget friendly' soon-to-be husband).

After that, I had to choose which things I really wanted to spend money on and which things I could cut down on.

If you are trying to stick to a budget and are like me, my advice would be to pick 2-3 things that are your “nonnegotiable” items.

My three nonnegotiable items were my flowers, venue and photography.

We invited 250 and had about 180 guests attend, which was the perfect amount for our venue.

I always had envisioned my wedding day to be one big celebration with all of the people that I love by my side, and it truly was- it was a dream.
