Some love stories begin with a spark. Courtney and Brennen’s began with years of friendship. The two first met at the Ohana Institute in Rosemary Beach, Florida, where they spent much of their childhood growing up side by side. Sharing life’s milestones created a friendship built on trust long before romance entered the picture. After graduating high school, they both attended Auburn University, where that lifelong friendship naturally evolved into something more.
Brennen knew almost immediately that Courtney was the person he wanted to marry. In fact, he set a countdown on his phone long before proposing. In the summer of 2024, he surprised Courtney on her parents’ property overlooking Choctawhatchee Bay—a place woven into her family’s history and one that would later become the setting for their wedding day.
Returning to the very place where they became engaged gave the celebration, planned by Armour Events and photographed by Caroline Bobbitt, an added sense of significance. Rather than searching for a traditional venue, Courtney and Brennen chose a location that already held years of memories, allowing every corner of the day to feel deeply personal.

Wedding weekend in Santa Rosa Beach
Nestled along the waterfront in Santa Rosa Beach, South Bay Stables became far more than the location for the ceremony—it became an extension of the couple’s story.

The horse farm, where Courtney spent much of her childhood, offered sweeping views of Choctawhatchee Bay and an atmosphere that felt intimate, welcoming, and unmistakably Southern. In preparation for the wedding, Courtney’s parents thoughtfully expanded the property, adding a fully equipped catering kitchen, a dedicated bar room, and guest restrooms within the barn. These additions transformed the family property into an elegant private wedding venue while preserving the warmth and character that made it feel like home.

Southern garden party inspiration
Inspired by a classic Southern garden party, the wedding embraced soft pinks and fresh greens that echoed the surrounding landscape. The design felt light, joyful, and effortlessly timeless, allowing the bayfront setting to remain the focal point while introducing romantic floral touches by Myrtie Blue throughout the celebration. Every space flowed naturally into the next, creating an atmosphere that encouraged guests to slow down and savor the day.

Custom Anne Barge bridal fashion
Courtney’s bridal style reflected the same balance of timeless elegance and modern refinement found throughout the celebration.

She wore a custom Anne Barge gown crafted in floral jacquard, featuring an oversized bow that added a striking architectural detail to the back of the dress. The silhouette felt classic yet distinctive, perfectly complementing the outdoor setting and garden-inspired aesthetic.

Waterfront ceremony inspiration
Before guests arrived for the ceremony, Courtney and Brennen shared a private first look upstairs in the barn. Away from the excitement of the day, they exchanged personal vows in a quiet moment that allowed them to fully absorb the significance of what lay ahead. The intimacy of the space created a meaningful contrast to the larger celebration that followed.

Outside, the ceremony overlooked the bay and was framed by florals in soft shades of pink and green, creating a setting that felt romantic without distracting from the natural beauty surrounding it.

As the couple recessed down the aisle, Brennen dipped Courtney for a celebratory kiss—a joyful moment that became one of the day’s most memorable photographs.

Horse farm reception inspiration
Following the ceremony, guests gathered for cocktail hour on the lawn overlooking the horse barn, enjoying the relaxed pace of the waterfront property before moving into the reception.

One of the most remarkable transformations of the day took place inside the horse arena, where an expansive reception tent completely reimagined the space. The structure introduced an elegant setting while preserving the property’s authentic character, proving that even the most unexpected venues can become extraordinary with a thoughtful vision. The reception balanced sophistication with the easygoing spirit of a family gathering, creating an atmosphere that felt both elevated and comfortably familiar.

Custom crest & trucker hats

Some of the most meaningful details came directly from the couple’s family. Courtney’s sister designed both the custom wedding crest and a collection of reception trucker hats featuring illustrations of the couple’s beloved Maltese puppy.

Equal parts sentimental and playful, the personalized artwork became one of the day’s most memorable guest experiences. Reflecting on these details, Courtney shared that they “made it incredibly special.”

A celebration built on friendship

Looking back, Courtney summed up the day with remarkable simplicity: “I loved getting to spend the entire day with my best friend.”

That sentiment became the thread connecting every moment of the celebration. From childhood friendship and a surprise proposal overlooking the bay to exchanging vows on family land, their wedding was less about creating an elaborate event and more about honoring the people and places that shaped their journey together. It was a celebration rooted in history, strengthened by family, and filled with the quiet joy that comes from marrying your very best friend.
