Meg & Saad’s dazzlingly bright and playfully colorful wedding was quirky and eccentric while maintaining that coveted sense of elegance. It's impossible not to be inspired by the thoughtful use of color and texture throughout their ceremony and reception, especially because the vivid hues reflected all the fun that was had that day, from their first look to their last dance. Whimsical details like neon yellow serpentine bud vases, multi-colored fringe ceiling streamers, and patterned linen napkins added so much personalization and whimsy to their special day.

Throughout all the planning, the couple never lost sight of what mattered most

Throughout the entire planning process, Meg and Saad had their wedding preferences in mind, but always focused on the purpose behind the day: getting married and spending forever with each other. After meeting through Hinge in February of 2020, they hit it off right away and quickly realized they shared many of the same interests. By that summer, the began custom designing Meg's engagement ring together, and shortly after, Saad popped the question on a weekend getaway in Oakland, California.

Even the venue had a history steeped in romance

The couple selected The Grand Lady, a boutique wedding and event venue in Austin, Texas to be the setting for their big day. At this space, a gorgeous white historical mansion sits at the center of the sprawling 20-acre property dotted with majestic oak trees. The mansion even has origins steeped in love, as the space was originally a wedding gift from the owner to his wife. Both the colonial-style mansion and newer reception hall beautifully blend modern details with timeless elegance. From the mansion's stained-glass windows and wraparound porch to the hall's wooden ceilings and contemporary window wall, this venue exudes charming hospitality.

The wedding was whimsical and elegant thanks to the bride's saturated color choices

Meg and Saad's wedding celebration was fun, whimsical, and elegant! The vivid hues of tangerine, marigold, watermelon, and coral reflected the couple's personalities perfectly. They tied the knot between two colorful flower towers at their ceremony and then danced the night away beneath tassel-like streamers hanging from the reception ceiling. To match these event vibes, Meg spent most of the day in her white wedding dress with neon green heels before changing into an iconic gold fringe mini dress for the party!

They chose centerpieces that promoted mixing and mingling for their guests

Inside the reception hall, the couple had a long king's table surrounded by round guest tables. Each had a white linen with patterned saffron napkins and savoy gold flatware. Neon bud vases, multi-colored taper candles, and fluffy floral arrangements decorated the centers of each table. It was important to Meg and Saad to allow guests to engage with each other, so they kept the centerpieces low and utilized fun elements like curvy bud vases as conversation starters. They incorporated retro-style signage throughout the wedding, also, including a custom welcome sign, individualized menu cards, a seating chart, and bar menu signs. Each sign featured the couple's signature fuchsia retro font with touches of sparkles.

The family-style meal showed everyone a "good Texas time"

Meg and Saad wanted to show their California and Illinois loved ones a good Texas time, so they treated their guests to upscale Texas fare, including Texas ribeye, spicy seared red fish with sides of duck fat roasted potatoes and fennel roasted heirloom carrots. The meal was served family style to encourage mixing and mingling. Guests enjoyed Texas Mules, Texas peach iced tea, and watermelon cucumber agua fresca. When it was time for the toasts, Meg's immediate family maintained their tradition of celebrating with a few extra special bottles of Schramsberg champagne. In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, everyone indulged in a dessert station with brown sugar peach pie, blackberry pie, cream puffs, and more!

Meaningful music choices honored the couple and their families during the reception

The couple made sure to pick meaningful music for their day. After saying "I do," they kicked off their reception with a first dance to "Crowded Table," by the Highwomen. They then surprised everyone by transitioning into the upbeat, "Mundian to Back Ke" by Panjabi MC, paying homage to Saad's Pakistani family heritage. And as the night drew to a close, the newlyweds shared a private last dance to "There Will Be Time," by Mumford and Sons.
