Fall Boho Baltimore Wedding at The Mt. Washington Mill Dye House

Heather and Richard met at a mutual friend's birthday brunch. They hit it off and Richard messaged Heather afterwards. According to Heather, Richard took a huge risk in the use of puns in his message. It went along the lines of, "Would you be interested in being a 'Smooth Criminal' and going to the Michael Jackson themed Cirque du Soleil? Just 'Beat It' and have a good weekend!"  He thought he took a huge risk sending a pun-inspired message but unbeknownst to him, Heather likes to refer to herself as the #PunQueen. So she replied, much to his disbelief, "I heard that show is a real 'Thriller'. All the 'Pretty Young Things' have seen it"! I guess you could say it was meant to be; or maybe, it was just, "The Way You Make Me Feel!"

The Proposal

After 5 years together, while on a holiday trip to Iceland, Richard proposed under the Northern Lights! "It was truly magical, just as it has been from the beginning," says Heather.

Not only are the couple two of the sweetest and kindest people you will ever meet, this dreamy bohemian design was breathtaking to see it come to life! The wedding took place in their hometown of Baltimore and kicked off with a rehearsal dinner at the Baltimore Museum of Art

Sarah Brookhart Photography was there to capture all the fun details, Rising Virgo to film, and SRS Events planned every detail. You can see all the images in the full gallery.

Ceremony

It was a crisp fall October day, perfect for their outdoor ceremony, complete with a copper arch filled with florals and pampas grass and lots of lanterns.

The venue is about 10 minutes outside of the city, the charming yet industrial The Mt. Washington Mill Dye House. Originally built in 1810 by the Washington Cotton Factory to bring manufacture textile goods to Maryland, the Mt. Washington Mill is the third oldest existing cotton mill in the United States. The venue has exposed brick and beams, and has an outdoor courtyard perfect for a ceremony or cocktail hour. The inside reception space is perfect for a hanging installation and bistro lights, just as we designed for the wedding. The couple's mutual friend became ordained to officiate their sentimental wedding ceremony.

The round tables featured a gold compote centerpiece with O'Hara garden roses in white, majolika spray roses, anemones, dark red dahlias, red astilbe, scabiosa pods, eucalyptus, pepper berry greens/berries, agonis greenery (dark red), seeded eucalyptus and bay leaves. A textured ivory linen, amber goblets, gold flatware and gold votives completed the tables. The sweetheart table was a smaller rented farm table (which was perfect for two) and had a long greenery garland with pops of florals, lanterns, and a hanging greenery installation serving as the perfect focal point for the reception. Antique toasting flutes completed the look.
