Intimate Boston Wedding: Paris Inspired Chic Minimalist Affair

Happy newlyweds share a tender moment after wedding

With chic minimalist ensembles, a blue, gold, white, and black color palette, and some moody skies, it's no surprise that this couple drew their inspo from the ever-fashionable Paris. Due to COVID, they were forced to cut their guest list by 171 people! Despite the initial heartache, this couple regrouped and ended up loving their intimate Boston affair. It gave them a ton of one-on-one time with their nearest and dearest that they wouldn't trade for the world!

Brilliant Event Planning was with them every step of the way to design their dream wedding and help make those difficult decisions. These chic, minimal floral arrangements by Winston Flowers are just the right touch for this Paris-inspired wedding. They held a traditional church ceremony at the Cathedral Of The Holy Cross. The sleek modern architecture of The Revere added to those big city vibes. Studio Nouveau followed the couple as they got ready, taking plenty of candids, including a pretty unique first look. SH Videography was also there to get it all on video so they can re-watch their big day for years to come. A NOT-SO-SECRET PROPOSAL

Bride walks down aisle with father in grand church

We met at Endicott College. He was living with my softball teammate's boyfriend, and she tried to persuade me to come to hang out with them one night. I was not into Luka at first (HAHA) but then he wooed me by asking if I wanted to braid his long hair, which I then did. We got deep into conversation, and it was a wrap from there on out. The proposal was a dream. We had a trip planned to go to Paris in the summer of 2019. I came home from work one day and sat at our home computer to finish emails, and Luka had left his email up, with a receipt from a local jeweler (Laura Preshong) sitting right in the open. So I knew!!!! I told Luka I saw what I saw, and it’s been a running joke ever since. I actually worked for NESN at the time and was talking to the Red Sox broadcast staff about what happened, and they did a whole segment about it on air during a game! So very special. Luka did however manage to keep one surprise, an engagement shoot with a professional photographer in Paris the morning after we got engaged. We walked through the streets of Paris capturing tons of gorgeous pics, We had our first meal as an engaged couple at Laserre and then popped some champagne at a hotel bar while we listened to a jazz ensemble in their lounge. It was the perfect night.

A BIG CHANGE

So, ever since our engagement in Paris, we were in love with the city. Everything about it. We wanted our wedding colors to match the clean, luxurious vibe we felt when we were there. Lots of whites and greens, with tons of peonies and bits of texture. After one meeting with Sarah, she knew exactly what we wanted. The planning process started out seamless, and then COVID hit, which threw our wedding into one reschedule and a drastic cut in our guest list (from 206 to 35). It was hard to not get emotional about how we knew our wedding would totally change and to try and stay hopeful that it would still be what we imagined that day would be. It was all that and then some, it really was a beautiful day. We enjoyed the cold late May temperatures and the downpour all day, it felt even more like Paris to us.

SOME FAVORITE MOMENTS

Newlyweds share a kiss under a stunning wedding chandelier

We hadn’t seen our family in quite a while, so having everyone in the same room was beyond special. It turned into a wedding/family holiday. Which is what we had hoped for. Our favorite moment was when the best man decided to put my rehearsal dinner outfit on and do a “first look” with Luka, who was expecting to turn around and see me. It was incredible. It really captured the love in our friendship. The overall day was magical. It started with dark rainy skies over the Boston harbor and continued that way all day, with a timely pause in the rain for outdoor photos and dinner. The rain made for a very romantic set of wedding photos that reminded us so much of our love for Paris. Tons of black and white moments with pops of sexiness is what we are calling it with our friends.
