Coeur D’Alene Navy Blue and Purple Wedding

Coeur D'Alene Navy Blue and Purple Wedding

Amy and Martin love living in Northern Idaho and since Jocey lives in Idaho and Amy visits often, we both can vouch for it's beauty.  It's such a great place to live. Since most of their guests were traveling from out of town, they wanted their friends and family to experience why they love living in Idaho so much.
With the help of the fabulous event designer Alisa Lewis Event Design, they carefully planned every last detail, creating a personal and memorable event. You can read more from the bride below, and see all the photos in the full gallery here. Photographed by Captured Coeur D'Alene wedding photographer Urban Rose Photo.

From The Bride:The Blackwell House is also a historic place, it was built in 1906 and was the home of an Army General. My family and my out of towns bridesmaids took over the house on the Thursday before the wedding, which was perfect, because it allowed us several days to set up before the wedding, which is a perfectionist's dream!

We got to have a little fun with the gifts for our family and guests. We gave beautiful mismatched Wedding Chicks hankies to our mothers and grandmothers as a keepsake. We also put together a welcome bag for our out of town guests with a copy of a magazine about the Inland Northwest, a card welcoming them, and homemade chocolate chip cookies that my friends and mom helped prepare.

Our family played a huge part in our wedding. Our ring bearer pillow will be a family heirloom. Martin's oldest sister made the crotchet part that went around the pillow. His younger sister handmade the pillow and did the embroidery. My Norwegian drop earrings and my handkerchief were a gift from the daughter of an old family friend, who passed away several years ago. They were sent to me a few weeks before the wedding with a note that said her mother would have loved to be there, and would have been very happy for us.

Our wedding venues were the perfect places to introduce our guests to the area. Old Mission State Park houses the Sacred Heart Church, which is also the oldest building in Idaho. It was built by the Jesuits along with the Coeur d' Alene Tribe in 1850 and finished in 1853. It was designatd as a National Historic Landmark in 1961. As a child, my mom remembers visiting there with her late mother, who routinely made the stop every time she passed through Idaho on the way to Montana. Martin recalls going there on school field trips as a child. The combined area and family history made it the perfect "Untraditional" place to hold our Traditional Catholic Nuptial Mass.

Our favors were coffee beans from our favorite local coffee shop, which was started by an alumna of our alma mater, Gonzaga University. All of the beer and wine at our reception was from local breweries and wineries. Even our wedding cake - cheesecake since that is my favorite - was topped with huckleberry sauce to represent North Idaho, or blueberry sauce to represent the small town where I grew up in western Washington.
