Their Love Story

Alexis and David often crossed paths at the University of Michigan. They shared mutual friends and spaces, which led to them finally setting an official ice cream date. That summer, they described their time together as “unforgettable,” carrying them through the next season of long-distance dating while Alexis completed dental school and David began his career. With the help of Alexis’s sister, David planned a proposal in Seattle. On Christmas Eve, David and Alexis took a boat on Lake Washington, where they were engaged. Afterward, a seaplane carried them on a scenic flight around the city—a breathtaking beginning to their next chapter.

The Vision: Earthy Elegance

Designed and planned by Kate Ford Events, Alexis and David’s black-and-white vision was in harmony with the natural beauty of California, setting the scene for a dreamlike hillside wedding in Carmel Valley. To complement the landscape, they chose delicate white arrangements by Wind Acre Farm Floral and kept the decor minimal, leaning into an earthy yet elegant aesthetic. Carmel Valley Ranch offered its rolling hillsides as the backdrop for their ceremony, held atop a wooden platform adorned with ivory bouquets. No altar was needed—the hazy valley view became its own gesture of profound beauty. Personal touches made the celebration all the more memorable: custom signage crafted by the bride’s mother and a churro cart that, in their words, “just felt California.”

Getting Ready

Surrounded by her besties, the bride prepared for the day ahead. Draped in an elegant Chantilly lace robe, she was a vision in white while her bridesmaids wore matching black robes, representing the timeless monochromatic palette for the day.

The Fashion

Alexis wore a custom lace gown by Pnina Tornai, designed with the help of her sister. The couple wandered through vineyards and played beneath the trees, embodying a balance of designer style and effortless ease.

Trending: One Long Table

Dinner was hosted at a single long table for forty of their closest family and friends—a dream come true for Alexis, who described her dinner vision as “iconic.” The menu drew inspiration from California cuisine and their favorite dishes, while delicate buds in vases lined the table as the sun dipped behind the hills.
