For their wedding at Hedsor House, the couple envisioned a celebration that felt timeless rather than trend-led, drawing inspiration from the romance and grandeur of Bridgerton while making every element distinctly their own.
Refined English elegance set the tone, with bespoke florals, candlelit tablescapes, a soft “Pastel Couture” color palette, and classic black-tie style filling the magnificent estate. Fashion became one of the defining threads of the celebration, moving from regal romance during the ceremony to full red-carpet glamour for the evening.
Yet beneath the beautiful design, the heart of the day photographed by Chris Akpokodje of Zeal Photography UK remained deeply personal. Their Christian faith, families, and the beginning of their marriage guided the celebration from start to finish, creating a wedding that felt every bit as meaningful as it was editorial.

A bespoke Cinderella-inspired wedding gown
Sarah’s ceremony gown began with an unlikely combination of inspirations: the original Disney Cinderella and a dramatic, modern mermaid silhouette. “I’ve always loved Cinderella’s timeless elegance, the sparkle of her gown and the romantic off-the-shoulder neckline,” she shared. But rather than recreating the fairytale look, Sarah wanted to interpret those details through her own personal style.

Custom designed by Sadie’s Bridal in London, the gown featured thousands of shimmering sequins and hand-applied pearl embellishments, with an off-the-shoulder neckline, deep V, fitted silhouette, and sweeping train. Sarah worked closely with the designer through multiple refinements until the gown felt exactly right.

There was another subtle layer of meaning behind the regal bridal look: Sarah’s name means ‘princess.’ “I’ve always gravitated towards regal, timeless fashion, so I wanted a gown that felt fit for royalty while remaining sophisticated, elegant and unmistakably me.”

Pastel couture bridesmaid style
The couple described their wedding color palette as “pastel couture” – soft, romantic, and elegant with a contemporary edge. For the bridesmaids, Sarah initially considered both champagne and olive before choosing the richer green hue to balance the wedding’s lighter, ethereal tones. The bridal party wore the Bella Dress in Moss Green by Six Stories, with a one-shoulder silhouette and flowing satin fabric.

Although Sarah originally envisioned transforming the shoulder drape into a statement bow, seeing the fabric cascade naturally changed her mind. The movement brought an understated drama to the dresses while maintaining the refined, couture-inspired quality she wanted for the bridal party.

A ceremony grounded in Christian faith

While the setting and design created the romance of the ceremony, music helped establish its emotional heart. The couple wanted their Christian faith to be present throughout the day, beginning with live gospel praise and worship music as guests arrived. The groom entered to Fred Hammond’s “You Are the Living Word,” followed by the bridal party to a saxophone rendition of “Goodness of God.”

For Sarah’s processional, “How Great Thou Art” began a cappella before gradually building as the choir and musicians joined in. Surrounded by family and friends within the grandeur of Hedsor House, the ceremony brought together everything the couple wanted the day to represent: faith, love, family, and the beginning of their new chapter.

Bridgerton romance meets timeless English elegance

The couple’s Bridgerton inspiration was never intended to become a literal theme. Instead, they borrowed its sense of romance, grandeur, and occasion to create something that felt timeless.

Hedsor House provided a natural canvas. Bespoke wedding flowers, softly romantic colors, elegant fashion, and candlelight complemented the historic English estate rather than competing with it. The result was luxurious without feeling excessive and editorial without losing the emotion behind the celebration – a balance the couple prioritized throughout the planning process.

From princess romance to red-carpet glamour
As the wedding moved from ceremony to reception, the fashion story changed with it. If the first half of the day belonged to Bridgerton and Cinderella, the evening took its cues from the Met Gala and the Oscars.

Sarah changed into a bespoke gold couture gown handcrafted by Nigerian designer Oakress. Meticulously hand-stitched embellishments covered the sculptural silhouette, catching the light as the celebration transitioned into evening.

Her husband’s look was designed in conversation with hers. His bespoke black velvet blazer by Deji & Kola featured intricate embellishment precisely color-matched to the rich gold of Sarah’s gown. Together, the coordinated couture looks created one of the most fashion-forward moments of the wedding—a transition Sarah described as going from “romantic princess to red-carpet glamour.”

Candlelit reception design

As evening fell, candlelight brought warmth and intimacy to the grandeur of Hedsor House. Elegant tablescapes and bespoke florals continued the romantic design language established earlier in the day, allowing the historic surroundings to remain part of the experience.

Rather than filling the space simply for the sake of grandeur, each element was intentionally selected to contribute to the atmosphere. The goal was always to create something immersive: a reception that looked editorial in photographs but felt welcoming, joyful, and deeply personal to the people experiencing it.

A five-tier wedding cake filled with symbolism
The wedding cake became one of the celebration’s most elaborate design moments. Created by Maya Dahlia Wedding Cakes, the five-tier confection drew inspiration from timeless architecture, with intricate white-on-white detailing, arches, pillars, and delicate cherubs. For the couple, the cherubs held particular significance, symbolizing their Christian faith and the importance of keeping God at the center of their marriage.

Their custom wedding monogram appeared prominently in a bespoke shade of gold, while their wedding date was written in Roman numerals around the base. Inside, guests had their choice of two flavors: Madagascan vanilla bean sponge with coconut buttercream and raspberry preserve, or orange sponge with mango and passionfruit buttercream.

The cake cutting brought the story full circle. The couple returned outdoors to the same location where they had exchanged vows earlier that day, cutting the cake surrounded by their guests as six cold spark fountains illuminated the moment.

Classical strings meet Afrobeats
Music evolved alongside the design and fashion throughout the wedding. Following the gospel-filled ceremony, a string quartet accompanied the drinks reception with classical interpretations of Afrobeats, reggae, and R&B favorites. Live music continued through dinner before the couple took the floor for their first dance to “Endless Love,” performed live as a duet inspired by the Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross version.

Then, the formality gave way to the party. The Fortune Collectives and DJ Pure Vibes carried the celebration through Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall, old-school R&B, and funky house before “Candy” by Cameo brought generations of guests together on the dance floor for the finale.

The ultimate goal: timeless over trendy
Throughout the planning process, the couple looked to Wedding Chicks real weddings for inspiration, particularly when considering styling, color palettes, fashion, and reception design. Seeing celebrations that felt both beautiful and authentic reinforced their decision to create something personal rather than chase passing trends. That philosophy ultimately became the thread connecting every part of their Hedsor House wedding.

The Bridgerton influence established the romance. Cinderella inspired Sarah’s regal bridal fashion. The Met Gala and Oscars brought evening glamour. Their faith gave the ceremony meaning, while music and family filled the celebration with life. Rather than belonging to a single theme, the finished wedding belonged unmistakably to them—a celebration of timeless design, personal style, and the love story at the center of it all.
