What it looks like when the BachBoss gets married in Newport
It really doesn't get more timeless than a monochromatic black-tie wedding at a Newport Beach mansion. From the bespoke wedding gown to the STUNNING florals and tented reception, every last detail from this elegant wedding was on-point. And honestly, we wouldn't expect anything less because the bride is an expert event planner and one of the founders of BachBoss- a travel and event planning organization that specializes in elevated bachelor and bachelorette parties and group travel.
Jolie and Zach tied the knot in the historic Castle Hill Inn in Newport, where Grace Kelly herself used to stay! Of course, Jolie (one of the BachBosses) and her team planned every last detail for her big day. Jolie trusted Stoneblossom to bring her over-the-top floral vision to life, and may we say, they did well...very well! The grand ceremony arch was truly spectacular and we love that the reception tent was literally dripping with flowers. Leila Brewster used her eye for lighting and love of vibrant colors to capture this beautiful day. We talked to Jolie about where she got all of the inspiration for her wedding, and we're happy to report that she's an avid Wedding Chicks reader! "I read different articles that highlighted various coastal weddings in terms of photography and design inspo," she explained. "I loved looking at the bride style ideas, the tips and advice section for wedding timelines and tips for navigating friends and family the week of your wedding was beyond helpful!"
the love story
Zach and I met in college. We were both undergrad at Syracuse University where Zach was a senior and I was a sophomore. We ran into each other at a frat tailgate and the rest is history :) Zach graduated and went to Tufts Dental School in Boston so we were long-distance for 5 years. When I graduated I moved to NYC, we would visit each other twice a month (once a month I'd go to Boston and once a month Zach would come to NYC. He matched into Columbia Residency and we finally moved in together in NYC! He proposed the following summer at his parent's house in the Hamptons.
finding the perfect venue in Newport
Our wedding was so special because of the people we were surrounded with. We had family fly in from all over the world. Even my cousins from Israel came. It was also so special for everyone to be away for the weekend together and enjoy Newport. Newport in the summer is an incredible place and we really took advantage of all it has to offer. The first night we did a sunset sail on a gorgeous sailboat only for our family and the wedding party which was definitely a highlight of the weekend. Castle Hill Inn is a beautiful historic venue in Newport. It's also a place my grandfather used to love. He used to take my grandmother for drinks on the famous lawn there. Castle Hill is known for the place where Grace Kelly used to stay–the beach there is actually named after her, "Grace Kelly Beach".
getting ready
My wedding dress was called Esther from Lee Grebenau's La Vie En Rose collection. Lee Grebenau gowns are so unique and have the most intricate detail. They take your measurements and hand-make a mannequin of your body in their studio in Israel to create the dress on your unique mannequin. The process was incredible.
the florals
My bouquet was a gorgeous mix of white and blush roses, blush ranunculus, cream dahlias, and baby's breath. It was perfectly full but still understated.
the ceremony
During the ceremony, we decided to read our own personalized vows, which was really sweet and special. The most unique thing I'd say about the ceremony though would have to be my veil falling off as I walked down the aisle.
the reception
I wanted the inside of the tent to feel very warm and intimate. When people entered the tent, I wanted to evoke romanticism so we opted for lots of soft, warm tones and candlelight. I had a vision of the head table being the focal point, so we had a large trellis over our long head table as well as a floral runner. The rest of the tables were a mix of high and low arrangements with lots of candelabra. Our signature cocktails were an extra dirty martini (for the bride) and an old-fashioned (for the groom). The cake was incredible - it was a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream. So fresh & light for summer. Our florist did an incredible job decorating the cake with all of the fresh flowers.
