A Brand New Outlook
From Rixey Manor: I organized this shoot with model Madeline Stuart after we had a couple look, and book. our venue because we were one of the few to post an older couple on our front page. It got me thinking how narrow the field of published weddings can be – it was at that point I also decided we wouldn’t hold any more styled shoots unless they were beyond the scope of just ‘pretty’.
It was really important that we did two things with the shoot – 1) show that my favorite vendors in Northern Virginia, and specifically Culpeper were more than just talented but sweet and giving humans – who saw the human stories behind their couples, a 2) make Madeline happy!
An Experience of A Lifetime
Everyone came through and delivered the most amazing work. From that morning when Madeline and her mom realized the scale of what we had put into place I think they knew I was taking her seriously as a model, not just because of her Down Syndrome. She was in bridal gowns for at least 9 hours and never faltered – it was exhausting, rewarding and just generally an experience of a lifetime.
