A Parisian Editorial That's All About The Hair

Picking a hairstyle for your big day can be almost as stressful as finding the dress, maybe even more. Lately, brides are opting to stay true to their everyday style and embrace their natural hair on their big day and we're loving it! This team designed an entire shoot around how to rock your natural hair for your wedding and how to accessorize every look. Oh, and it's set in Paris, so you know it's going to be full of eye candy!

Hotel San Regis Paris was the perfect location to set the scene for this glamourous shoot while this romantic bouquet by Atelier Mimoza added a touch of whimsy. Kathleen Chapin is the hairstylist behind these looks and she specializes in styling natural hair and Elizaveta Photography captured each look at every angle. A Parisian Editorial That's All About The Hair

The luxurious Hotel San Regis in the heart of Paris set the stage for this elegant editorial that is sure to inspire brides looking for wedding hairstyles for natural, textured hair. An international team came together to create this delicate and romantic shoot with rich gold tones and subtle hues of cream, apricot, and pale garnet. Our award-winning hairstylist, Kathleen Chapin, specializes in natural, textured hair and wanted to show brides that they have a variety of options for their big day, including hair accessories and veils.

A Classic Low Bun

A Parisian Editorial That's All About The Hair

For brides that want a soft, romantic look on their wedding day, Kathleen recommends a low bun with intricate braiding that will have the added benefit of staying in place well into the evening. This style can be easily paired with a hair comb, like this delicate piece from Veronik Atelier, or with a hair comb of preserved flowers, made by Atelier Mimoza. Makeup artist Joleen Emory gave our bride Camille a polished look with a soft smokey eye and a pop of color on the lips. Brides that have always dreamed of wearing a veil during their ceremony can easily add it on top of the low bun and then remove it for the reception.

A Dramatic Up-do

A Parisian Editorial That's All About The Hair

For the second look, Kathleen opted for a chic up-do that complemented the bride’s sleek dress and accentuated her stunning features. Joleen chose more vivid colors on the eyes and lips for this refreshingly modern look. For this hairstyle, Kathleen actually used a gold headband from Veronik Atelier and put it underneath the up-do. She recommends doing the same for the veil, which ensures that the hairstyle and accessory are still in the spotlight. Kathleen also added the floral hair comb, created by Atelier Mimoza, on the side of the hair for a fun, asymmetrical style.

A Word About Floral Hair Accessories

A Parisian Editorial That's All About The Hair

Floral designer Hélène of Atelier Mimoza explains that brides have several choices when it comes to floral hair accessories. Fresh flowers are bright and beautiful but will quickly wilt, especially in summer heat or in strong sunlight. Stabilized flowers, like the hair combs in this editorial, are naturally preserved through a special technique that allows the flowers to last longer than fresh ones while maintaining more vivid colors than dried flowers. These kinds of floral accessories can last up to 10 years and can be the perfect special touch later on for vow renewals.
