A Fierce Micro Wedding With An Industrial Vibe

Historic Romance Comes To California

If you were considering having black tableware for your reception, this is a sign to definitely do so! What a dramatic contrast amongst the table decor and beautiful red florals the Bride is rocking. A simple backdrop of black tulle for the ceremony backdrop amongst the exposed brick is perfect for that industrial vibe. Gorgeous inspiration in the rust-colored paper goods and totally breathtaking wedding dress! Crushing on that high slit + low back. A total showstopper!

For this styled shoot, we transformed an industrial co-working space into a venue fit for an intimate and unforgettable ‘Historic Romance’ themed micro-wedding. Our inspiration was ‘contrast’… the history of the building, with its exposed brick and high ceilings- and the modern, ‘blank slate’ renovations it had recently undergone, gave us the perfect backdrop to create our vision.

We married bold colors with delicate patterns, industrial architecture with lush vegetation, and historic nods with modern-day trends. Like the late 19th-century street markets of Madrid- vibrant colors and foliage neighbor century-old architecture; while rich textiles and antiques paint the atmosphere with an eclectic yet sophisticated brush.

For the altar design, we brought in locally cultivated plants from Rustic Garden, romantic black candles from Mobaak Aromatherapy, and for a softer touch, we finished off the altar setting with a black tulle installation and a vintage Chinese rug.

To align with the historic romance theme, Tina wore the Foxglove dress by Willowby, provided by Sheryl Giles Bridal Couture, which features a stunning deep V neckline, high slit, and intricate lace detailing. Patty Ayala did Tina's makeup, giving her a light, fresh-faced look with a bold red lip. Her partner, DaJohn, wore a classic black tuxedo, by Tuxedos Of Lodi.

One defining feature of this shoot was the stunning floral arrangements created by Lynda of 5 Daughters Design. Lynda used an eclectic combination of roses, dahlias, berries, pampas, and tufted grasses to create Tina’s bouquet and flower crown, Dajohn’s boutonniere, and stunning arrangements at the altar and sweetheart table.

For the sweetheart table design, we kept things simple, using a bare wood tabletop and a collection of delicate vintage vases, lanterns, and candlesticks to create the centerpiece. The place settings were designed in classic black and gold, tying in the moody romance used throughout the space, and finished off with a minimalist yet classic menu designed by Cuyco Calligraphy.
