So, apparently Selena Gomez will be joining the beauty bandwagon sometime soon - and we can’t say we’re not excited about it. Coming from someone who lived for Jessica Simpson’s Dessert beauty line in the mid 2000s (Tahitian vanilla scents of the gods), I’m always up for a celebrity-backed beauty brand, and why wouldn’t Selena Gomez have a good one? She’s flawless.
According to WWD, the only place we go first for realness in the beauty world, Sel and her production company, July Moon Productions, filed for a ‘Selena Gomez’ trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last month - to reserve her name for a number of beauty products, including “fragrances, cosmetics, skin-care preparations, hair-care preparations, soaps, moisturizers and essential oils,” among others.
Rihanna did it successfully with Fenty Beauty, Kylie Jenner earned herself youngest billionaire baller status with Kylie Cosmetics, and Lady Gaga is gearing up for an official fall launch of Haus Laboratories (her first foray into high-def color cosmetics) - so it’s definitely not hard to imagine Selena killing it in the space, too.
Granted, the singer and songwriter hasn’t confirmed any of the SG beauty tea herself (as of yet), but the telltale signs of a serious beauty endeavor on the horizon are definitely there. First comes trademarking… then come hints on social media… and then come the products that we ‘can’t get enough’ of. At least that’s how it happened for Kylie…
Brides get excited, though, something tells us she’ll have really fun, aisle-readying stuff for you. She’s always been a bridal beauty muse for us, so if her line can guarantee some gorgeousness like what we’ve glimpsed on her Gram, then brides everywhere will be hunting down her hottest items like wolves…
