I met Tricia in the summer of 2010 through mutual friends, and immediately got butterflies in my tummy like never before. I did not know why I was feeling like this, and it excited me and scared me at the same time! I left the night after meeting her, and could not get the feeling out of my head. It wasn’t too long after the first night we met that we were together again, and as I was leaving, she took a risk and gave me a kiss! I left that night with millions of emotions and questions, and leaving Tricia on the edge for a while! I then finally made the decision to love with my heart, and not with my brain (how society tells me I should), and I have never looked back!
We spent basically everyday of the next 6 years together! We were on vacation visiting my brother in San Diego, and she asked me if I would take an early morning walk with her before we left for the day (Detroit Lions game). We were walking down to the water with our coffee, and I thought I had walked into someone else’s proposal when I saw a sign on the ground. To my surprise, I turned around to look at Tricia, and she was down on one knee! Of course I said yes, and to top it off I heard all of our family cheering. Our families were both vacationing with us, and had snuck onto the boardwalk to watch the proposal and be there to celebrate with us!
I then returned the favor to Tricia, and proposed back to her when we were vacationing in Sedona, AZ. We hiked Cathedral Rock, and I surprised her with her own rock once we got to the top!
We are getting married 11.27.2016 in Mexico, and we already have over 100 guests coming along for the celebration in paradise (of course we have ordered the “Hola Amigos” totes as our welcome bags!) I am so excited to marry my best friend, and to have the support of so many family and friends. I never could have dreamed to be where we are today when I experienced the mysterious butterflies in my stomach 6 years ago. I would not change a thing, and I cannot wait to continue see what our future holds! Love is Love!
