More is More In This Gypsy Inspired Elopement Shoot

Riches of the earth take center stage in this sumptuous inspiration shoot inspired by nomadic gypsy culture. In this case, more is absolutely more...and what a fun twist on the current maximalism trend! We've seen beautiful tiered tulle gowns and overgrown florals, but the idea of understated darker colors in excess feels new, at least for weddings. To make it even better, this entire shoot feels comfy, and in a world where athleisure and nap-wear rule our day-to-day, what more could a modern couple ask for?

Each of these photos, by Alejandra Loaiza, requires its own viewing to truly take in all of the details. Day Love Event planned every detail of this wedding inspiration and made a truly immersive experience. Bohéme Fleurs created all of these incredible florals that meld perfectly with the beautiful spread. All of the photos from this shoot are in the full gallery, so be sure to click through and read on to hear more from photographer, Alejandra Loaiza

LA VIE BOHEME

More is More In This Gypsy Inspired Elopement Shoot

Alejandra Loaiza, the photographer, imagined an atypical wedding editorial inspired by the beauty of exotic travelers and the gypsy lifestyle. An unconventional love story that takes place at a small fisherman’s hut, lost in the middle of nature. The teams from Day Love Event and Velvet Rendez-vous created beautiful spaces to bring the gypsy wedding to life. The bride and groom spent some time the afternoon before the wedding day at a comfy, bohemian tent made of scarfs and exotic clothes, a mix of warm colors and textures, and a bit of tambourine music to fill the air with some magic. For the ceremony, the team decided to build a backdrop inspired by colorful beaded curtains. We wanted it to be an intimate ceremony, in harmony with nature and a wooden atmosphere. Bohéme Fleurs was in charge of the floral design. They made big beautiful compositions with wildflowers and earthy/Bordeaux tones. Surrounded by a pond and forest, the lovers said 'I do'. After the ceremony, the newlyweds celebrated their union by the lake, eating delicious treats prepared by the talented Lilie Cakes

WHAT THEY WORE

About the styling, for this gypsy-inspired shoot, natural materials overlap, and colors almost merge with the landscape. Like nomadic peoples, the looks are comfortable and adapt to everyday needs. In the tent, the day before the wedding, Rémi and Ilona are wearing wool, corduroy, nubuck, and leather in shades of brown, green, and beige. During the ceremony, patterns and materials intertwine like patchwork, representing gypsy culture. We then match a sleeveless faux fur jacket over a fluid and vaporous dress for the bride, tartan tweed on an embroidered shirt, and corduroy pants for her husband. For the meal by the pond, our two lovebirds change into less formal outfits. Both warm and discreet tones blend into the decor in communion with nature, while maintaining an eclectic and surprising style.
