Bringing That Moroccan Vibe To California

Bringing That Moroccan Vibe To California

California, with its diverse landscapes and ever-temperate weather, is the perfect destination for whatever type of wedding you're planning, even if it's an alternative to your original destination. For this wedding inspiration, this team set out to create a Moroccan paradise in Culver City, California. They chose a rooftop venue with a view that only added to the ambiance–towering palm trees for days! They brought in other details that evoked that Moroccan vibe like pretty gold accents and lanterns.

Kiss & Say I Do Events designed this beautiful shoot and worked closely with all of the vendors to bring their vision to life at Palm Sofia. When you're trying to reference another destination styling is key, especially when it comes to the florals. Aquarela Gift & Flowers and Dolce Blooms utilized a lot of dried palm leaves in their arrangements and flowers with warmer tones to give them that Moroccan feel. These photos by Lily Tapia beautifully capture the modern and boho elements from this inspiration shoot and White Sparrow Weddings was also there to get it all on video. Read on to hear more from Karla Solórzano of Kiss & Say I Do Events about what went into creating this inspiration, and for a few delish drink recipes.

BRINGING MOROCCO TO CALIFORNIA

Bringing That Moroccan Vibe To California

Let’s use our imagination and travel to a faraway land by creating Moroccan magic in the heart of Culver City, California. Travel is soon on the horizon, but how about bringing the Moroccan energy to this intimate wedding at Palm Sofia Rooftop? 'It is a gorgeous chic indoor and outdoor event + filming space in the heart of Culver City.' The open space of the venue is perfect for couples looking to create a more relaxed environment for their guests and give them views to die for! We wanted to add a modern twist to boho for the invitation suite. The colors were muted, but there were still some pops of fun details and different shapes. Sandy, from Roseville Designs, opted for a square invitation instead of the typical rectangle and enclosed everything with a laser-cut petal fold enclosure to add dimension and texture. She continued with the theme of size and consistency with the place cards by doing small branches of dried pampas grass affixed with a blank wax seal with very organic edges.

CREATING BOHO VIBES

Bringing That Moroccan Vibe To California

With a bohemian-eclectic concept Kiss & Say I Do Events created a neutral and romantic palette and added touches of Morocco with gold geometric chairs and neutral romantic florals. The florals contained anemones, ranunculus, pampas grass, palms, dried and preserved flowers, and hints of romance with a mix of pink glassware. The ceremony details create such a warm, inviting look! To illustrate that vibe, we added romantic, soft-lit Moroccan lanterns/baskets, neutral hanging garland, and neutral colors of florals and plants. The Moroccan vibes continue with the delicious cake and dessert! Again, the white with gold touches was clean, and the floral touches brought in the eclectic vibe. The macrame backdrop was an intricate design crafted to enhance the space and add elegance without distracting the main event. It's an original design by Foxfield Design, handmade with a natural cotton cord. When creating this macrame backdrop, the aim was to be in the boho world while bringing sophistication and balance that would be pleasing to the eye in person and look fabulous in photos!

DRESSING THE PART

Bringing That Moroccan Vibe To California

Our bride was itching to take a strut in that Natasha by Alon Livne White by La Soie sleeved lace wedding dress. It’s decadent, intriguing, and completely unexpected–made for the woman who oozes confidence and effortless sophistication. The sleeves gave it elegance and brought the energy of a queen with the pearl hairpiece. The low bun with the Adalia Headband by Grace De Bloom was perfect for a classy bride! Then, the bride wore the Mimi gown by La Soie Private Label for the reception. It is a beautiful fit to flare gown with ivory lace over nude lining for a modern take on the classic romantic bride. This look was accompanied by the Xenia Hair Vine by Grace De Bloom in a gold and ivory finish and it gave her the perfect romantic look. The groom wore a notched lapel suit in light tan that was perfect for this outdoor event and complemented the bride’s style perfectly. Furbaby feels the boho vibes by incorporating a flowered collar to show the excitement he feels that his parents are finally getting married!

DRINK UP!

The cocktails matched the color palette perfectly. The Oaxacan Remedy was mezcal, ginger juice, lemon juice, honey, chocolate mole bitters, inspired by the classic and oh so tasty Penicillin cocktail, which has a smokey taste from the Islay single malt scotch. The Black & Sour, made from bourbon, blackberry puree, lemon juice, club soda-added, is a whiskey cocktail that was both fruity and refreshing. Nailed it! And the Ready, Set, Drop, with tequila, chamomile, lemon, agave, citrus bitters, was inspired by the classic lemon drop with a tequila and herbaceous twist.

A SWEET FINISH

Bringing That Moroccan Vibe To California

The gold stenciling of wheat on the cake was the perfect complement to the dried (and fresh) flowers; it’s a little bit structured and a little free-form. Likewise, the handmade and hand-painted gold fondant palm leaves, which are very much a current trend in both cake and floral design, embody the elegant boho style. The hand-stenciled gold wheat design is carried over into the decorated sugar cookies. Each guest was greeted with an Earl Grey cream tart with fresh berries and edible 24K gold.
