Paperwork at the end of a hospital shift is not usually the beginning of a love story, but for Claudia and Bhavik, it was. In September 2020, Claudia was rushing to discharge a patient when she realized the paperwork had not been completed. Just as panic began to set in, Bhavik stepped in and calmly handled everything. The interaction was brief enough to fade into memory until two months later, when the pair matched on Hinge and met for their first date.

What began as an easy conversation quickly revealed a deeper connection. Both understood the demands of life in healthcare, and their personalities complemented one another perfectly—Claudia’s warmth balancing Bhavik’s quick wit. A few years later, Bhavik planned a proposal that caught Claudia completely by surprise. Under the guise of celebrating his fellowship graduation at the Inn at Little Washington, he led her outside their cabin, where a photographer waited discreetly nearby before asking the question he had spent months preparing to ask.

When it came time to plan their wedding at Fairmont Copley Plaza with Christine Godsey of CG & Co. Events, the couple envisioned a celebration that honored both of their backgrounds while creating a seamless experience for family and friends. Their Boston wedding captured by Vanessa Falcone Photography beautifully blended Indian and Western traditions, resulting in a wedding weekend rich with symbolism, culture, and personal meaning.

A wedding weekend of traditions

From the beginning, Claudia and Bhavik approached their wedding as an opportunity to celebrate not only their marriage, but also the families and cultures that shaped them.

Rather than separating traditions, the couple thoughtfully intertwined Indian and Western wedding customs throughout the day, creating a celebration that felt cohesive and authentic. Every event carried significance while inviting guests to experience and appreciate both sides of their story.

The Baraat & Milni ceremony

The festivities began with one of the most energetic and joyful moments of the day: the Baraat.

Bhavik arrived in a Bentley surrounded by family and friends dancing through the streets in celebration. The procession created an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation, transforming the arrival into a celebration all its own.

Upon reaching the venue, he was welcomed by Claudia’s family during the Milni ceremony, a meaningful tradition that symbolized the joining of two families. The exchange set the tone for a wedding centered on unity, respect, and shared celebration.

One of the most moving moments came during the Hastamelap ritual, when both sets of parents joined the couple’s hands together. The symbolic gesture represented the union of not only two individuals, but two families moving forward together.

Western wedding ceremony: quiet luxury

Later in the day, the celebration transitioned into a Western ceremony that offered a distinctly different atmosphere while maintaining the same emotional depth.

Dozens of glowing pillar candles lined the aisle, creating an intimate and romantic setting for the exchange of vows. The soft candlelight introduced a sense of quiet elegance, allowing the focus to remain on the couple and the significance of the moment.

The contrast between the two ceremonies beautifully reflected the balance Claudia and Bhavik sought throughout the wedding: honoring tradition while creating space for personal expression.

Detail we love: handwritten cocktail napkins

Throughout the day, personal touches served as reminders of the people who helped shape the couple’s lives. Among the most meaningful details were cocktail napkins featuring a handwritten message from Claudia’s late Aunt Lori. The simple yet heartfelt tribute ensured her presence was felt during the celebration and added another layer of significance to the guest experience.

Candlelit reception design

As evening arrived, guests gathered for a reception that embraced both elegance and celebration. Crystal chandeliers illuminated the ballroom overhead while purple and pink uplighting washed across the walls, creating depth, warmth, and energy throughout the space. The lighting design transformed the ballroom into an environment that felt vibrant and inviting without losing its sense of sophistication.

The overall reception aesthetic balanced classic luxury with a lively atmosphere, creating the perfect setting for the festivities that followed.

Choreographed cultural performances

Entertainment played an important role in bringing the celebration to life. Family and friends filled the dance floor with choreographed Indian performances, creating moments that were equal parts impressive, emotional, and joyful. These performances highlighted the importance of community and participation, allowing loved ones to actively contribute to the celebration.

The energy continued throughout the evening as guests gathered on the dance floor, celebrating together long into the night.

On trend: late-night treats

As the party continued, guests were treated to a late-night churro bar. The playful addition offered a sweet ending to an evening filled with meaningful traditions and vibrant celebration. It also reflected the couple’s desire to create memorable experiences for their guests, balancing elegant details with approachable moments of fun.
