Kevin and Hallie’s story began long before dating apps and chance encounters. Their parents had been friends for years, and during a childhood trip to the British Virgin Islands, the two first met at just eight years old while sitting at the kids’ table. Over the years, they remained loosely connected through high school and college, even sharing a few summer dates along the way. It wasn’t until post-grad life brought them both to New York City that their friendship evolved into something more.
A few years later, under the casual pretense of celebrating Kevin’s 29th birthday in Stowe, Vermont, he led Hallie into an open field at the Von Trapp Family Lodge. Surrounded by peak fall foliage, he got down on one knee and proposed. The surprise became even sweeter when both of their families emerged to celebrate the moment together.
When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple knew exactly how they wanted it to feel: warm, welcoming, and reflective of the people and places they love most. Their Cape Cod wedding at Wychmere – planned with the help of Cape Cod Celebrations and captured by Rebecca Love Photography – embraced timeless coastal style, meaningful personal details, and the relaxed elegance that defines New England entertaining.

Cape Cod-inspired wedding design
From the beginning, Kevin and Hallie wanted their wedding to feel like home. The overall wedding style embraced the best of Cape Cod—light, coastal, classic, and effortlessly elegant. Rather than relying on elaborate design elements, the couple focused on creating an atmosphere that felt authentic to their personalities and welcoming to their guests.

Oceanfront ceremony inspiration
Guests gathered on Wychmere’s breathtaking oceanfront patio for a ceremony surrounded by panoramic water views. Wooden cross-back chairs lined the aisle, creating a timeless ceremony design that complemented the natural beauty of the Cape Cod coastline. Beyond the ceremony space, the ocean stretched endlessly toward the horizon, providing a stunning backdrop that required little embellishment.

The cutest four-legged wedding party member
One of the most beloved details of the day came courtesy of Dewey, the couple’s dachshund. His presence could be found throughout the celebration, from custom cocktail coasters to the wedding cake topper.

Dewey even took on an official role in the ceremony, proudly escorting Hallie’s sister, Kyli, down the aisle.

Cocktail hour with New England favorites
The cocktail hour fully embraced the flavors of the region. Guests enjoyed a menu filled with New England-inspired favorites, including shrimp cocktail, freshly shucked oysters, and mini lobster rolls. The elevated coastal menu felt perfectly suited to the Cape Cod setting and offered visitors a true taste of the local culture. The experience seamlessly blended luxury hospitality with the relaxed spirit of a seaside celebration.

Beach portraits along the coast of Cape Cod
As the day unfolded, the couple stepped away for portraits along the shoreline. The beach provided the perfect setting to capture the natural beauty of Cape Cod while showcasing the relaxed romance that defined the celebration. The resulting images reflected both the magic of the location and the genuine connection shared between Kevin and Hallie.

A timeless coastal reception aesthetic
Following cocktail hour, guests moved indoors for a reception that continued the day’s timeless coastal aesthetic. Inside, chandeliers cast a warm golden glow across the room while natural sunlight streamed through expansive windows overlooking the water. The reception design with florals from Botanique of Cape Cod felt bright, inviting, and effortlessly sophisticated, allowing the venue’s waterfront setting to remain a central part of the guest experience.

Playful addition: interactive sweet treats
The couple embraced a playful approach to dessert that reflected the welcoming spirit of the celebration. While guests enjoyed wedding cake, one of the standout experiences of the evening was a homemade ice cream sundae bar. The interactive dessert station encouraged guests to customize their treats while adding an element of fun that appealed to all ages.

A bonfire reception finale
Rather than ending the evening on the dance floor, Kevin and Hallie chose a finale that felt uniquely their own. As the celebration wound down, guests gathered around a cozy beach bonfire overlooking the water. Wrapped in the salty Cape Cod air, friends and family lingered together, sharing stories and soaking in the final moments of an unforgettable day.

The bonfire created a meaningful ending that reflected everything the couple had hoped to achieve: connection, comfort, and quality time with the people they love most.
