After being assigned to the same project at work, Sandra and Scott embarked on a three-month work trip to California with their team. During that time, they discovered how much they enjoyed each other’s company. When they returned home to Virginia, they planned their first official date — a baseball game at Nationals Park — and have been together ever since. Years later, the couple found themselves living in Carlsbad, California. As they prepared to move back to DC for Scott’s job, he orchestrated a special proposal. The night before their cross-country move, Scott suggested one final walk on the beach, something he’d mentioned several times that week. Sandra agreed, thinking it would be a sentimental way to close that chapter. Instead, Scott arrived at the beach with their dog, the ring, and a plan — surprising Sandra with a dreamy proposal on the eve of their next adventure together.

Sandra and Scott celebrated not only their love for each other but also their shared passion for baseball with a playful rooftop wedding at The International Spy Museum. Inspired in part by a photo Sandra had taken of a California sunset during their time living there, they built their vision with the help of Evermore Occasions around a vibrant palette of pink and coral, setting a joyful tone for the celebration captured by Megan Rei Photography.

Wedding welcome baseball game

Instead of a traditional welcome party or rehearsal dinner, the couple hosted a “welcome baseball game” at Nationals Park — the very site of their first date — inviting guests to join with group tickets.
