their love story

Adam and I met in Scottsdale, AZ, while I was attending my best friend’s bachelorette party, and he was attending a bachelor party. Coincidentally, we were both living in Chicago at the time, so when we returned home, Adam asked me out on our first date. Almost three years later, he proposed on New Year’s Day during our vacation to Hawaii!

the vision: pastel romance

The design process was my favorite aspect of wedding planning. It was so fun creating all the stationery, from my wedding invites to the ceremony programs, menus, seating chart, and place cards with the help of my incredible stationery company, Epitome Papers. Everything was designed to perfection and helped bring my vision to life!

the first look

The moment my husband, Adam, and I shared during our first look is something I will always remember. Both of us were overcome with enthusiasm and emotion. It was the first time I felt some relief that day when I was able to embrace and hug Adam. I knew that marrying this man would be the best decision of my life, regardless of what details went wrong that day.

ditching the wedding party

Adam and I decided to not have a traditional wedding party in order to spend more time alone and with our families. During our first look and immediately following the ceremony, we had the opportunity to spend time with each other one-on-one before joining our guests for cocktail hour. We were able to unwind and enjoy our first drink together rather than feeling pressured to finish the wedding party photos.

getting ready

Putting my dress on was one of my favorite moments of the day. In fact, I would say that my dress was “the moment.” My Galia Lahav dress made me feel confident, feminine, and sexy. I loved being able to finally share it with my friends and family for the first time. I know it’s easier said than done, but getting ready with your closest friends and family is the most special time, and I wish I could relive it 100 times over! I received many compliments and comments from friends like, “this dress is so you,” which is exactly what I was hoping to hear! Not to mention, it’s truly an honor to wear a Galia Lahav dress. The designer is a true icon with a powerful story, and I’m grateful that I was able to wear one of her pieces on the most memorable day of my life!

the dress
From the moment I put my dress on, I knew it was the one because it was the first time I truly felt like a bride. I felt like it embodied my style and personality. Trying on my dress, the “Veronica”, for the first time even changed my mind on almost eloping to wanting a wedding. Saying “yes” to my dress that day was certainly the easiest “yes” I made during my wedding process! It was an incredible experience working with the team at Galia Lahav. I had to order my veil at the last minute due to my lack of preparation, but the Galia Lahav crew managed to have it ready for my special day. As you can see, this Galia Lahav veil was a MUST because it matched perfectly with my dress.

The “Veronica” offers the Galia Lahav signature low-back and figure-hugging trumpet corset style with three-dimensional embroidered lace and a voluminous skirt made of layered soft tulle. Sheer side panels. Sheer back. Gathered illusion tulle gloves with floral and beaded crystal embellishments. A cathedral-length veil with a double contour for a floor-sweeping finish and appliqué along the edging of the hem. Everything about Veronica makes it a true masterpiece from Galia Lahav.

the cake

For dessert, the couple cut into a simple two-tiered wedding cake decorated in scalloped buttercream frosting.

words of wisdom from the happy bride

I was pretty stressed leading up to the wedding day, and at some points, I felt like I wasn’t truly in the moment. I wish on the morning of my wedding, I would’ve just relaxed and stopped worrying about all the “what ifs.” I wish someone told me before starting the planning process that planning a wedding is as hard as you make it. My advice to future brides is to not stress about the little things and just enjoy the process. Everything will come together as it should, and your guests won’t even notice those small details that are keeping you up at night!
