the proposal

After meeting through church in middle school, fate would have it that William transferred to Shelby’s high school for the start of freshman year. He quickly fit into Shelby’s friend group, and the pair maintained a friendship throughout high school. It wasn’t until the summer after their freshman year of college that their love story began. Shelby’s parents took her and her brother on a beach trip, inviting their friends to join, including William. One night, he asked Shelby to go on a private walk on the beach, where they talked for hours, ending their evening with a kiss under the stars. Years later, they were visiting Shelby’s parents’ property when William surprised her with a proposal. He had worked with her siblings to set up an area with a blanket, flowers, photos, and a bible at the end of a path covered in rose petals. After Shelby said yes, they joined both sides of their family for a celebratory dinner and after-party with their friends.
the vibe: timeless backyard wedding

For Shelby and William, there was no better place to get married than the site of their proposal at Shelby’s family home. Dreaming of a classic-themed wedding, they opted for a timeless color palette of blue and white that they knew they would still love looking at 20 years later. Despite rain in the forecast, their big day went off without a hitch thanks to the expert help of Vision in White Events. The pair exchanged vows in a sweet outdoor ceremony under a tent with arrangements of blue hydrangeas and white garden roses by LMA Designs throughout.

The reception was held under a sailcloth tent where a checkered dance floor stood in the center. Guest tables were dressed in alternating white and blush brocade linens with white-and-blue hydrangea centerpieces filling the space. Each place setting featured chinoiserie plates that matched the linens and vases from the welcome table and cocktail tables leading to the tent.

getting ready

In matching smocked cotton pajama sets, Shelby and her ladies lounged in her home away from home as they got ready for the big day. Imagine how much these photos must mean to her parents–their little girl getting dressed for her wedding, right where they watched her grow up😭.

the fashion

Shelby wore an elegant Anne Barge gown with a sweetheart neckline and a veil with lace trim from her mother’s wedding dress. Her bridesmaids wore neutral dresses with criss-cross necklines and held bouquets of white peonies, roses, and hydrangeas with hints of blush pink to match the bride’s.

the cake

Decorated in a waterfall of live white roses, the two cut into a towering 5-tier wedding cake which they served on beautiful blue and white china to go with the chinoiserie theme.
