When the Dress Becomes a Work of Art
Kimberly Salmon – the founder and artist of Brushed Script – has always dreamt of painting a “one of a kind” wedding gown. “I really wanted to depict a dreamy, ethereal feel for the outdoor bride” she shared. The trend of having a non-traditional dress, however, is only the beginning. Being able to offer customized, hand-painted gowns truly adds even more to a bride’s special day.
This dress in particular was originally from a local consignment shop, Southern Belle Bridal Consignment, that was then meticulously hand-painted by the artist and owner. “The highlights in the dress were really to pay tribute to the soft palette and scenery of the park, and I am so happy with how it turned out!” Kimberly raved. “I truly look forward to painting more gowns and offering a unique way for brides to own their wedding day.”

Details to Complement a Natural Setting
Tablescapes included heavy florals and dreamy, hand-painted menus alongside candles and custom strawberry cocktails (to match the softness of the woodsy theme). A beautiful cake – and equally scrumptious mini desserts – were created by Quishia & Co. Confections. Soft pinks and greens were incorporated throughout the cake and cookies to tie the whole theme together.
Picking the Perfect Location
The shoot was coordinated by Kelly, owner of Lynn’s Ranch, and situated in Sam Houston State Park. “We found the perfect spot after scouting for weeks and made the hike multiple times to ensure every station would be perfect,” Kelly said. White roses, light pink hydrangeas, and subtle greenery from the talented Stones Throw Floral Company filled each of the five stations, as well as the bridal bouquet.
Hand-Painted Details Throughout
“When planning we knew we wanted to include hand-painted stationery that complimented the dress. We also made sure to include small mementos, like a vintage typewriter,” Kelly shared. Details truly made the difference and blended seamlessly with the florals for this event.
