Boho Tulum Wedding: Trusting Your Planner for a Dream Destination Day

Share

Newlyweds sharing a sweet moment, bride kisses groom

When you’re planning a destination wedding, hiring a planner is an absolute must! They are your eyes and ears overseas and, better yet, they actually know the area and the who’s who of the local vendors. Sure, reading reviews helps, but nothing beats first-hand experience. Once you find a planner that is on board with your vision, let them take the reigns. They’ll let you know when they need your input, but otherwise, you get to sit back and enjoy the ride. Sound great? It is! Just ask this planner who put together a fabulous boho destination wedding in Tulum based on a few inspiration photos.

Diana Romo Weddings got a feel for what the clients wanted (location, color palette, etc.) and ran with it! These photos by Whitney Darling Photography beautifully capture this magical day. Maria Limón designed all of the florals including the bride’s flower crown, which a boho wedding wouldn’t be complete without. Becker Wedding Films was there to film this joyous day at Nest Tulum. You can see all the images in the full gallery. Read on to hear more from Diana Romo Weddings

TRUST IS A MUST

Beach wedding ceremony setup with ocean view and decor

When I first met Dom & Jeff,  I knew this wedding would be special: two prime attorneys from LA with busy careers but interested in having a wedding celebration that reflected their personalities. I knew every minute was gold! One key point I would like to mention is that when Dom shared her 5-10 inspiration pictures, she gave me total freedom to create something special for them! Going for a darker color palette including marsala, black, gold, and touches of pale rose (which are a few of my favorites) I genuinely let myself go and plan what would be my dream event!

Knowing in advance that they were not planning to come down to Tulum until the wedding week made us have a big input on the client’s decisions, we knew they had to trust us! One piece of advice I always give to couples is to trust your vendors, particularly your planner, who will be your main point of contact and will be polishing details for sometimes over a year! Trust is a must! All the vendors and planners do their very best to benefit their clients, this is key for smooth wedding planning.

A HEAVENLY DAY

The wedding weekend was the first time we met Dom & Jeff, and we had an instant rapport! I knew they were free souls, so humble and delightful! The wedding was intimate, with around 30 people, which is my favorite type of wedding to plan. With a beach view reception and the Tulum breeze, it was just heaven! They choose the beautiful Nest Tulum as the wedding venue, and frankly, it couldn’t have been a better choice for them. The venue is bohemian, effortless, and chic. We coupled the modern bohemian inspiration together with the beauty of the natural surroundings of Tulum, Mexico and we got ourselves a masterpiece!

THE FASHION

Dom decided to use two different outfits for her wedding, the first was a Pronovias gown, beautiful for the ceremony, and one bohemian and chic A La Robe gown for the rest of the night. She also decided to add a beautiful floral crown that gave a bohemian touch to her look. She was glammed up by the incredible Zoë Elizabeth team which is always impeccable in what they do! For hair, Dom went with beachy waves that looked stunning with her platinum blonde hair. Seriously they both looked like rockstars!

EVERY LAST DETAIL

Romantic wedding table setting with candles and floral arrangement

The symbolic ceremony with an incredible beach background was presided over by the bride’s best friend, who made us all cry a tear or two. Every guest wore, black tie dress which is not the usual attire for a beach destination wedding, but the contrast was everything! It’s always exciting when a client thinks outside the box!

The color palette for the wedding was my favorite combo; you can never go wrong with dark colors and gold, such a beautiful mix! The floral design by, the one and only, Maria Limón was incredible, with a dramatic ceremony arch and a moody tone for the reception. The styling and design were the work of the wonderful Daniela Parra from Archive Rentals who made sure our vision came to life.

FULL OF SURPRISES

Romantic outdoor event space with string lights at night

During dinner, the talented Luis Gaviola played his guitar and delighted all guests with his indie-boho style music. The menu was family-style Mexican cuisine, full of original and local flavors as only Nest knows how to deliver. While everyone was enjoying dinner they didn’t expect to go next door to the private villa for the after-party, where we prepared a unique bohemian ambiance including Persian rugs, neon lights, and even a tarot card reader! The dance floor was open and everyone danced the night away under a star-filled gorgeous night.

CAPTURING THE MOMENTS

Whitney Darling, an amazing photographer from California, and her team flew in to capture all the details and Becker Wedding Films did an incredible job as the wedding videographer. This is one of the most beautiful and most memorable of weddings we’ve had the privilege to plan in my many years in this business.
