Why Have A Winter Wedding? Because They Are Breathtaking And Magical

Why have a winter wedding? Because they are breathtaking and magical! Arielle and Kyle got married 2 days after Christmas, which added so much magic to their day. They never thought that they would be winter wedding people, they always imagined fall. But because Arielle was still in college when they got married, they took Christmas Break as an opportunity to have the wedding as close to fall as possible. Now, they can’t imagine having it any other way!

Both us and this couple agree that winter weddings are so underrated!  Beautiful snowy shots, cozy candles, and bridesmaids in boots are seriously gorgeous. See all of the amazing details from this wedding in the full gallery, photographed by Sarah Dawson.

HELP FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS GOES A LONG WAY

Words from the bride: Handmade details were important to me, and I had so much help with every detail! One of my Grandmas hand-sewed my veil, my other Grandma sewed the ring bearer pillow, a family friend painted all the wine bottles and collected hundreds of glass jars, my dad cut all the wood and built all the wooden signs, I did all of the calligraphy and invites…I could go on and on! We couldn’t have pulled it off without all of the help from family and friends.

SURROUND YOURSELVES WITH THOSE WHO SUPPORT YOU

It had just snowed the week before the wedding, so while downtown Nevada City didn’t have any remaining snow, the upper areas did. This was where the cabin was that my bridesmaids and I were staying at. The drive to the venue was 30 minutes of black ice on windy roads lined with snow covered trees. I swear I thought I was gonna die on the way to my wedding! However, the slow drive allowed for a peaceful time of reflection and relaxation before the ceremony. Although we had around 200 guests, the intimate venue, candlelight, and post-Christmas feels all lent to the reception feeling like a large family dinner. There is something so special about being surrounded by people that love and support you, and you getting to see them enjoying themselves on your behalf.

STAY FOCUSED ON WHAT MATTERS MOST TO YOU

One of my best friends sang worship at our ceremony alongside another family friend. It was so important to us that we remembered what marriage truly means, who created it, and who we belong to. It was a really special moment in the ceremony. We wanted the focus of the ceremony (and the whole day!) to be more on God, and less on us.
