From the bride:
Our wedding was at an organic farm/folk art community, not a traditional wedding venue – think of it like a backyard style wedding but with a few more facilities than a normal home. We spent the morning getting ready in the 70 year old main house on East Hill Farm. My bouquet was made of farm grown and foraged flowers including dahlias, wild hydrangeas and vines. An heirloom locket along with silk ribbon that one of my best friends hand dyed with indigo she grew herself adorned my bouquet.

Personal details

A close friend works as a floral designer and did our flowers as a huge, amazing, crazy generous gift. I grew some and bought most of the flowers from local farms (she snuck in a few extras as an additional gift) and 4 of my best friends worked with her all day prior, to make the centerpieces! Guests were greeted and then walked through the 50 year old grape vine arbor & flower gardens to the ceremony location. A close family friend wrote and performed our ceremony, so, so beautifully with lots of personal touches.

Something old

I had a box of old cedar shingles in my garage, she and I painted some with chalkboard paint and some left plain to use for table numbers, drink/dessert/gift/guest book signs. She found some old plywood and an old mirror & easel in her Dad’s barn and painted those for the welcome sign and menu sign.

Florals for your wedding

it’s all in the details

Everyone pitched in setting up, making garlands and bud vases, coordinating guests and cleaning too! We had friends arranging flowers, hanging string lights, setting up sound equipment, cutting down saplings for an arbor. We never could have done it without them. I was starting to feel guilty but just about everyone has texted me in the last week to say they wish we were still getting ready for our wedding, how much fun they had working together and then partying together and can we do it again this weekend? So I guess it was a case of true community support!
