Brantley and Davis’ relationship started with a dive bar, an unexpected third wheel, and a very enthusiastic rendition of “Sweet Caroline.”
Brantley’s best friend tagged along for their first date, but any initial awkwardness disappeared when Davis started belting out the song alongside another inebriated couple at the bar. Brantley knew she’d found someone special. By their second date, they were back at the same dive bar, where they shared their first kiss in the alley outside.
“We just never stopped hanging out after that!” they shared.
Two years later, Davis turned those early memories into an elaborate proposal scavenger hunt. The first clue was waiting at that same dive bar, delivered by the best friend who had joined them on their original first date. More clues led Brantley to friends and family before eventually bringing her to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, where Davis proposed.

’90s nostalgia inspired the wedding design
When it came to their Boca Raton wedding, Brantley and Davis weren’t interested in toning down their personalities.

Brantley found an unexpected source of inspiration in the playful nostalgia of a ’90s Libby Lu store. Rather than recreating the concept literally, she used that feeling as a jumping-off point with Absolute Event, layering traditional bridal elements with unapologetic color and expressive details.

Vibrant oranges, purples, and pinks filled the floral arrangements by Cerka Creative, establishing a palette that felt joyful from the start.

A corseted ballgown gave way to full disco sparkle
Brantley’s fashion followed the same more-is-more spirit as the celebration.
For the ceremony, she wore a Justin Alexander ballgown featuring a corseted bodice and basque waist, embracing a more traditional bridal silhouette for the church service.

Later, she changed into a dramatically different second look that she joked “would give a disco ball a run for its money.”

The transformation mirrored the progression of the wedding itself, moving from the romance and meaning of the ceremony into a reception built for pure fun.

Private vows and a feet-washing ceremony added deeper meaning
Beneath the wedding’s playful surface photographed by Sunny Lee Photography were moments grounded in the couple’s faith and relationship.

Before their church service, Brantley and Davis exchanged private vows and participated in a feet-washing ceremony. Their ceremony itself centered around some of their favorite Bible verses.

A cross served as the focal point of the altar, surrounded by a wall of glowing candles and a deep red draped backdrop. The saturated color and candlelight gave the ceremony a dramatic visual identity while keeping the couple’s faith at its center.

Inflatable pink ponies and face gems took over the ballroom
The ballroom reception balanced elegant details with the kind of additions that could only belong to Brantley and Davis.

Inflatable pink ponies, face gems, and custom chocolate bars brought what the couple described as extra “pizzazz” to the celebration. Instead of worrying about whether every detail fit a conventional wedding aesthetic, they focused on whether it felt fun and personal.

The result was whimsical and polished at once, with bold color providing a visual thread between the florals and the more unexpected reception details.

Their first dance brought them back to their first concert
Even the music carried a piece of the couple’s history.

Brantley and Davis chose “The Best” by Nicotine Dolls for their first dance, a meaningful choice because Nicotine Dolls had been the first concert they attended together.

It was exactly the kind of personal reference that defined the celebration: something guests could enjoy on its own while holding an entirely different level of meaning for the couple.
Maraschino cherries topped a five-tier vintage cake
Dessert brought another dose of nostalgia.

Their five-tier wedding cake embraced a vintage-inspired design and was finished with maraschino cherries, bringing a playful pop of color to the classic tiered silhouette.

Late-night bites and hand-rolled cigars kept guests going as the celebration continued, maintaining the energetic spirit that had carried through the reception.

From bold flowers and a glittering second look to inflatable pink ponies and face gems, Brantley and Davis built their wedding around instinct rather than expectation. The result wasn’t colorful simply for the sake of being colorful. It felt like an extension of the same personalities that had fallen for each other over “Sweet Caroline” in a dive bar years earlier.
Brantley’s advice for other couples sums up the philosophy perfectly: “It’s actually not a rule that you HAVE to do whites and greens. Freak what you feel!”
