What Harry And Meghan’s Wedding Might Look Like If They Eloped

Share

Happy couple holding hands on wedding day at palace

A Royal wedding is on the horizon, and the whole world is anxiously awaiting it… but what if Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave us all the slip and took a day to quietly elope! Rebecca K. Events dreamed up this exact romantic wedding day, and with the help of a team of talented wedding vendors, her beautiful ideas became a reality.

Keep scrolling to see what these two royals might get up to on their private little wedding day out! Oh and don’t miss a single detail, we have all of these photos plus many more in the full gallery thanks to the talents of Cecelina Photography

The inspiration

Being an American wedding planner living in London I truly love the story of Meghan & Prince Harry! With the big royal wedding coming up I started to wonder if secretly the two of them just wish they could run away and get married?

The idea of these two very public figures being able to intimately exchange vows early in the morning on a beautiful spring day in the city was enthralling. They could get married and run around London in the early morning capturing photos of them as a married couple – not royals, just a stylish, beautiful couple in love. They would celebrate with an intimate breakfast, drinking champagne in the sunshine at a beautiful table set for two. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

The Flowers And That Dress

I assembled a group of suppliers that were all very excited about the idea and could see the vision through. I wanted to create something pretty and fresh, but not too feminine or trendy. Robin egg blue with touches of yellow and black, white and gold complemented the flowers and the venue perfectly.

All of the flowers: from the bouquet to the table arrangement: had a story behind it. Meghan Markle is initially from sunny California, where the state flower is a poppy, so these were sprinkled throughout. England’s country flower, the rose, is, of course, significant in its symbolism of the place they call home. We also incorporated fresh blossoms that bloom frequently around Kensington Palace in spring.

Meghan has a fantastic eye for style and often wears small and upcoming designers. When we found this Alon Livne White dress from Morgan Davies Bridal we knew it was perfect! It was chic and flattering, yet simple.

The Breakfast

What meal would they share together? A breakfast was the obvious choice. In the UK, you often refer to the meal your guests have after the ceremony as the Wedding Breakfast, even if it is served in the afternoon. It is your first meal together as husband and wife. Most people would fast before their church wedding ceremony, so the first meal together would be ‘breaking the fast’. The idea that Harry & Meghan could enjoy a beautiful morning together eating a mix of American pancakes and local Windsor eggs and bread was a dreamy idea.

The Invitations

We created a modern monogram for the couple that we tied into the shoot in many ways, from the royal announcement cards to the menu. Meghan and Harry are certainly a modern-day fairytale, and we thought their stationery should reflect this. Meghan actually used to be a wedding calligrapher when she was auditioning for roles! We had their wedding vows calligraphed into beautiful velvet vow books that could be passed down as family heirlooms for years to come.
