Urban Romance Wedding Ideas

The team at Amber Karson Events wowed us by taking a space and created a soft, intimate romantic feeling in the heart of bustling Washington DC. They brought the outdoors in with plenty of ferns, terrariums and mixed various elements (wood, glass, metal, and greenery) into an otherwise traditional space and made it their own. Without a doubt, you know we love anything soft, pretty and full of romance.  We have to say the entire shoot is quite charming, but we are especially smitten with all the florals designed by Petals and Hedges. The hanging terrariums add such a great element. Don’t you think?

All captured by the incredibly talented Adam Barnes Fine Art Photography for the Venn Workshops. You can see more in the full gallery by clicking here and be sure to visit Green Wedding Shoes to see more of this inspirational shoot by clicking here.

From Adam Barnes:

These images were photographed while I was teaching at Venn Workshops this past April.. Styling and Coordinating by the incredibly talented ladies at Amber Karson Events.

We titled the workshop, Urban Romance. We wanted to create a soft, intimate romantic feeling in the heart of bustling Washington DC. Amber Karson events says, “Our interpretation of Urban Romance played off the idea of bringing the outdoors in with plenty of ferns, terrariums and mixing various elements (wood, glass, metal, and greenery) into an otherwise traditional space. We worked with an amazing vendor team to pull our look together.”

What is Venn?
Venn Workshops is a collaboration between Adam Barnes Fine Art Photography and Jodi Miller Photography who look to share their expertise with other photographers, in an intimate, boutique style workshop. Like the Venn diagram, we believe that a collaboration is the best way to teach, because it allows each hosting photographer to share on the strongest aspect of their business and their craft.

Tuscany Countryside Wedding

Elisa and David’s wedding took place at the Villa Medicea in Pisa,Tuscany. A breathtaking wedding venue in the Tuscany countryside that dates back to the year 1000. All of the details and decor were designed by Elisak including the ring book you see below.

A clever twist on the ring pillow, both rings were placed inside the book and tied with a ribbon for safe keeping.  To see so much more of this Tuscany countryside wedding click here. All captured by Italian wedding photographer Cinzia Bruschini.

At the ceremony the two read a lovely poem from Erri De Luca name, “Two.”

When we’ll be two, we’ll be like sleep and watch, we’ll sink in the same flesh, like the milk tooth and its successor, we’ll be two like the waters, the fresh and the salt one, like the skies, nocturnal and diurnal, two like the feet, the eyes, the kidneys, like the heart beat times and the breath blows. When we’ll be two, we’ll have no halves, we’ll be a two that nothing can divide. When we’ll be two, nobody will be one, one will be the equal of no one, the unity will consist of the two. When we’ll be two we’ll change the name even the UNIverse, it will become TWOverse.

The Parker Palm Springs Classic Wedding

The Parker is arguably one of our favorite wedding venues in Palm Springs. They have held a few weddings there and  know how to make your wedding a true phenomenon.

Connie and Ben’s classically beautiful wedding was filled with vintage details, drift wood centerpieces and gorgeous succulent arrangements. Captured by one of our Hand-Picked wedding vendors Chenin Boutwell. You must see more of this classic wedding in the full gallery by clicking here.

We love it when a couple tailors their guest book table to their wedding style. Connie and Ben’s vintage style table matched their decor and design to a tee as it was filled with antique books as props and tiny succulents.  The guest book table also doubled as a place for guests to grab a sparkler, for the sparkler send off. Using one space for two stations … great idea.

We love Chenin and it is clearly evident why she is one of our Hand-Picked Photographers.  These vendors are at the top of their game and provide excellent services! Chosen because of their commitment to excellence, stylish and fresh ideas, and their overall fresh approach to weddings. To learn more about how our Hand-Picked Vendors are chosen please click here. Green and Blue Wedding Ideas

Kati and Bryan envisioned a wedding that was tailored, sophisticated and accented with gorgeous flowers.  Little elements referencing their love for their favorite band (Dave Mathews) surrounded them in a tasteful fashion, and made their event very unique and personal. Read on to hear more wedding planning tips from Toledo Event Designers Elite Events and be sure to see more green and blue wedding ideas in the entire gallery captured by Mary Wyar.

If you want your Wedding Party to be in high fashion dresses, but do not want them to shell out a fortune considering renting the dresses form Rent The Runway. They are able to wear a snazzy fashionable gown at a reasonable price. Great idea …. right?

From The Bride:
How to make sure your wedding vision comes to fruition: Being aware of whom you are as individuals and as a couple is the MOST IMPORTANT part of designing your wedding. Piece together what your love story is. Look at photos of the two of you throughout your relationship and write down what you like to do together, how you fell in love and some of the greatest memories you have made. This should tell you what type of a couple you are and give you a starting point to begin gathering images and examples for your wedding designer. Use the images you have gathered to work with your event designer and coordinator to create an inspiration board that reflects not only your style but your budget as well. Take this with you for every wedding related meeting to insure your florist, cake artist and even your bridesmaids all understand exactly what you are going for.

Location:
Bryan and Kati fell in love camping at Dave Matthews Concerts. Keeping in line with how they fell in love outside, they wanted a location with an outdoor natural setting that would subtly transport their guest’s into their love story. They chose the Historic Toledo Country Club built in 1892. The gorgeous building’s large windows, wrap around porches and terrace dance floor provided guest with views of the Maumee River, an award winning golf course, perfectly manicured gardens and a night sky full of stars.

The Design:
Elite Events created a brand for the couple which subtly can be found in every detail. The custom inspiration board titled Tailored Sophistication reflected a color palette that coordinated with the exterior facade of the venue including shades of Greens, Blues, Greys and Whites. Since the couple fell in love camping at Dave Matthews Band concerts, Elite Events took inspiration from an album cover art and transcended the image into the interlocking circles you see on all the details. The circular image represents the couples joining of lives, shared love of a band, and a never ending commitment. The love story continued in other details, using quotes on straw tags and programs, naming tables after meaningful songs, and turning music sheets of the Song “Everyday” into cones that held flower petals in which guests would toss at the conclusion of the ceremony. Paying tribute to the couples favorite past times, the ring bearers dressed like golfers, the flower girls resembled ballerinas and the couple’s dog carried the rings around his collar just as he did during the proposal.

The Reception Décor:
Event Designer Nikki Wolfe incorporated circular details into the table décor utilizing 3D marshmallow white confetti accent linens that complimented the sophisticated Indigo Lamoure linens alternating throughout the reception area.
3 floral designs were created to keep the guests eyes moving throughout the room.
Look 1: A Modern Touch: moss spheres wrapped in white calla lilies and placed in clear square vases
Look 2: A Simple Statement: Dendrobium Orchids playfully emerging from square beds of wheat grass
Look 3: An Understated Elegance: 3 cylinder vases varying in height displayed submerged Cymbidium Orchids, overflowing large Phalaenopsis Orchids, and sprays of newly budded Dendrobium Orchids.

Fun with Food:
Jane’s Cakes created a 3 tier cake inspired by the bride’s ceremony & reception dresses which was topped with a cake topper molded to resemble the couple and their pets. Out of town guests were offered goodie bags filled with Apple butter and Pepper butter made from ingredients grown in the groom’s family garden. The couple invited guests to enjoy their grandmother’s homemade cookies and kept the party going into the late hours of the night with a Nacho station in honor of the grooms favorite late night snack.

Chocolate Brown and Aqua Blue Wedding Ideas

Courtney and Geoff  have strong roots in Virginia. Both raised and both attended, met and fell in love at the University of Virginia. They wanted to introduce their  guests to their state and love story in an intimate garden setting full of romantic and personal details. Designed beautifully by Fleurish Events and photographed by Abby Jiu, you can see more lovely chocolate brown and aqua blue wedding ideas in the full gallery by clicking here.

From The Bride:

I was raised in Virginia, it’s the state my husband and his military family lived the longest, and more importantly, it’s the place we met and fell in love at the University of Virginia. We chose to exchange open air vows at the Thomas Birkby House in Leesburg, Virginia. The venue’s 18th century origins, brick walkways, and manicured gardens appealed to our sense of history and home. Inspired by the tint of Southern porch ceilings, painted blue to mimic the sky, we chose dusty aqua as a base color and grounded the palette with a rich chocolate brown, providing a sweet contrast to vintage silver and creamy petal accents. Inside the house, our guests were greeted by a display of family wedding photos, a nod to the great love stories we know by heart, and outside, they were treated to the lush green and heady sunshine of Virginia spring. Carrie Moe applied the most beautiful finishing touches arranging our extensive collection of DIY elements and surrounding the ceremony area with luscious peonies, mercury glass, and custom monogram swags and signage.

My handy groom built a frame to display our handmade escort cards and a sign to guide family and friends to their seats, while I baked cookies from a family recipe to serve as favors, and my mother-in-law scoured her collection of vintage items for antique frames and handkerchiefs to add to the decor. In one daring DIY escapade, I made my first ever mosaic after a case of mercury glass votives arrived broken–and non-returnable. Piecing together those shards of glass reminded me of all the people we love who made us who we are, that life has mysterious ways of leading us to find the perfect fit, and that even when wedding planning hands you lemons (and it may) there’s not one that can’t be turned into lemonade if you keep your eyes on the prize: honoring your partner and the love you share.

In homage to our collegiate beginnings and love of literature, blue-toned books joined varied floral centerpieces on chocolate linens in the reception tent, and handmade posy pins with Alfred Lord Tennyson’s quote, “If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk in my garden forever,” rested on each napkin.

Classic Ballroom Wedding From Emily Steffen Photography

White lush flowers mixed with winter greens and tons of candles in elegant mercury glasses makes this classic ballroom wedding a show stopper. Not only is the wedding sophisticated and stylish, but the photographs are equally as gorgeous. Captured by one of our Hand-Picked wedding vendors  Emily Steffen Photography. You can see more of this Minnesota Ballroom wedding in the full wedding gallery.

From The Bride:

We were looking for a warm, intimate feeling that would fill the space. I was really inspired by the venue, 317 on Rice Park, by the warm, rich colors, the big windows with natural light, the beautiful, giant fireplace for a winter setting. We were interested in lush, white flowers with some winter greens and natural elements paired with A LOT of candelas in mercury glass. And I mean A LOT of candles. I wanted full, lush tables with warm glowing candle light to greet guests when they walked in. I love the chairs and our flower designer, Melissa, spruced them up just perfectly with the natural twigs and flowers on the backsides. It gave height and interest to the space around the table.

We absolutely LOVED the outcome, plain and simple! I had a general idea that I tried to communicate to Melissa, but am a firm believer that flexibility yields the best results! She really nailed the feeling we were looking for; it surpassed all of our expectations! The room was absolutely stunning and some of the details – such as the blueberries in the candles and flowers on the chairs- were a total surprise! We loved it!

Los Angeles Wedding Venue | Malibu and Vine

Malibu and Vine is situated within the Malibu Mountains and a great option for those of you on the hunt for a romantic, yet elegant Los Angeles wedding venue. As you can see, the outdoor space is quite lovely and has a bit of a rustic flair. You can find old wine barrels and blooming lavender throughout the property, perfect for pretty portraits.

Yellow Bird Events shared with us how lovely the space can really be. Setting up an inspiring tablescape with gorgeous florals from Wisteria Lane Flowershop and beautiful props from one of our favorite vintage rental companies Archive Vintage Rentals. See the entire shoot in the full gallery and stay tuned for a pinwheel diy from Yellow Bird Events.

From: Yoleine Dumarsais of Yellow Bird Events

Wisteria Lane provided the sweet florals for the shoot. We wanted a classic approach with a bit of a quirky touch, which is why we brought in the daffodils into the fresh blooms of roses, ranunculus, and hydrangeas. The rentals were provided by Classic Party Rentals and Archive Party Rentals provided the bench and the vintage, yet classic “Welcome” sign.

When it came to the tablescape, we wanted to keep the look clean and sweet while bringing a different approach to the menu. Kathy G. Chung provided the gorgeous stationary for the invitations and menus. Guests would be able to check off their main meal choice on the menu card provided complete with your own personal writing utensil.

The initial inspiration stemmed from the pinwheels. The vision was to tie in the sweetness of the pinwheels to the classic touch of the details throughout the shoot. If pinwheels were going to be a part of the shoot, it had to be something big…like a wall! The pinwheels were constructed by being placed on large dowels and gaps were filled with individual pinwheels in various sizes. I also wanted to bring in some color to the wall by painting just a few of the wheels with water color paint.

To top off the pinwheels, we couldn’t leave out balloons by Geronimo Balloon Troopers! Just enough flair for a classic and fun affair!

Gold and Pink Wedding Ideas

In honor of the first official day of spring, which was Tuesday, we have a special treat for you. Courtesy of Katie Stoops Photography and Events in the city, along with quite a few other talented DC wedding professionals. Holly Heider Chapple created an absolutely breathtaking array of florals from an intricate headpiece, to a stunning bouquet, and of course the gorgeous centerpieces. The arrangements could not have been more perfect for this inspiration.

Inspired by the romantic idea of a girl from the country who finds love in Paris while going to college. It was only fitting that her wedding combined the two places she loves … the rolling hills of Virginia tied with the chic elegance of Paris. Complete with a blush toned Monique Lhuillier dress and some to die for gold accents. You can see more gold and pink wedding ideas in the full gallery by clicking here.

We adore the simply elegant wedding stationery designed by Paperzest. It has such an elegant Parisian feel with a beautiful gold envelope liner and old world flourish accents. All the makings for a regal invite.  Absolutely gorgeous … right?

Romantic Table Decor From Alchemy Fine Events & Isari Flower Studio

Black and white will always be a front-running trend in the wedding world. It is classic, elegant and timeless. There are endless ways to personalize this palette to make it all our own.  Alchemy Fine Events & Isari Flower Studio collaborated on an old Hollywood inspired table using these timeless colors.

Framed by the hotel’s crystal chandelier, delicate drapery and stunning black and quite checkered floor. The majestic table-scape came alive with luminous candles set aglow amidst cut crystal, urns and interesting shaped decanters. Photographed ever so beautifully by Luna Photo. See more romantic table decor ideas in the full gallery.

From Alchemy Fine Events on the super luxurious art deco inspired stationery:

To complement Isari’s floral palette of green, white and black, I created a super luxurious art deco inspired menu with a chinoiserie flair including illustrations in an aqua, green, black and white color palette. An intricate laser cut belly band featuring art deco and chandelier designs encompassed the folding menu that opened up to showcase delicate butterflies and romantic calligraphy.

Tam of Isari Flower Studio,  describes the stunningly romantic table scape:

To showcase the gorgeous La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla we created an old Hollywood inspired table featuring sparkling cut crystal and a winter palette of black and white framed by the hotel’s crystal chandelier, delicate drapery and stunning black and quite checkered floor.
The majestic scape came alive with luminous candles set aglow amidst cut crystal, urns and interesting shaped decanters.

We selected winter white blooms such as amaryllis and anemones with it’s black centers, reflecting and resonating the black touches from the other details such as the black chivaris. Giant ranunculus, azaleas, pierris, and parrot tulips snuggled up close with carnations while small wintyer cyclamen plants were placed under glass cloches for an interesting surprise.

Glass candlesticks, bud vases, and other interesting shaped old world classic vessels were scattered amidst the arrangements for a multidimensional and interesting effect . For a dramatic statement we tied on large black satin bows a la Chanel around each place setting to remind each guest that their presence was a gift. For an additional sweet detail, green and white chocolates were custom designed as an additional touch to offer guests.

How to Throw a Barn Wedding

We couldn’t wait to share today’s wedding with you! This lovely barn wedding was photographed by one of our absolute favorite southern wedding photographers, Austin Gros. It is truly a picture guide on how to throw a barn wedding.

Amanda and Lucas’s Tennessee wedding could not have been more perfect. All the details were impeccably and thoughtfully planned out in only six months. With comfort in mind along with a, “southern-style” you will love this laid-back wedding held at  Southall Eden, a private farm located just 6 miles outside of Franklin, Tennesse. Be sure to see all the images in the full wedding gallery.

From the Bride:

“Once Lucas and I got engaged in February last year, our wedding planning began almost instantaneously. From the very start, it was extremely important to both of us to have a wedding that was “us.” We also both knew we wanted a venue that would take full advantage of the beautiful rolling hills, laid-back charm and rural setting of our hometown, Nashville, Tennessee. With only 7 months to plan, we were very fortunate to stumble upon Southall Eden, a private farm located just 6 miles outside of Franklin, Tennessee. The setting could not have been more perfect! It really set the mood for the day. Our guests were able to kick off their heels, loosen their ties and just enjoy celebrating with us. Comfort was key! We tried to incorporate that theme in everything from the “southern-style” catering to the bridesmaid’s dresses. I’m thrilled beyond words with how everything turned out. Lucas and I had the time of our lives at our wedding. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to kick off the rest of our lives together!”

San Francisco Wedding By Emily Scannell Photography

With a chic aesthetic all their own, Karla and Aspen’s Walnut Creek wedding was filled with style and some seriously fabulous steal-worthy ideas. Their closest friends and family stepped up to give these two brides and unforgettably gorgeous day.

Their friends decorated the space, bought and arranged all of the gorgeous flowers in the reception, prepared delicious food, performed as DJ’s at the reception and even found two pomegranate trees for their ceremony site. As you will see, everyone’s love and support was truly reflected. There are so many more pretty pictures from Emily Scannell Photography that you must see in the full gallery.

We are in awe over this super hip wedding invitations. Karla (bride) designed all of paper goods you see., including the custom beer and wine bottle labels. I am pretty sure she designed the way cute CDs we gush about below.

One of our favorite steal worthy ideas from Karla and Aspen’s wedding was their personalized wedding favors/escort cards. It looks like they made personalized music mixes for each of their guests. Within the CD you would then find your table assignment. Tables were then named after bands like Radiohead, and placed on wine bottles. We wonder if they placed the guests at tables that had similar music tastes. We love love this idea and for sure would be at the Madonna table.

We love love the idea of a having a Mexican Taco Party at your wedding. Nothing says delicious like authentic Mexican street tacos and all the fixings. Delicious! Another great idea these two ladies had was having their friends and family bring dishes to accompany the tacos.

For dessert, they had a traditional wedding cake and then had Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. bring an ice cream cart to make sundaes. Both incredibly great ideas…right?

It is easy to see from our next feature, why Erich was chosen as one of our Hand-Picked.

Ben and Chelsea were married at the Portland Temple and had an elegant reception at, Zenith Vineyards. We are loving the classic details and of course how pretty is Chelsea’s hair?  Loving the vintage inspired hair accessory. So pretty. See this entire Portland Temple Wedding by clicking here.

From the bride:

Growing up as a little girl, I always knew I wanted a bit of a classic vibe. I chose black and dark brown as my colors and dressed it up with tuxedos to give me that classic look that I wanted. But most of all, I wanted to be fun, where the guests were happy to be there and didn’t want to leave. The photobooth was a great touch of fun to the wedding. I used the pictures of the guests as an addition to my thank you notes and we also compiled a picture book to remember our guests by. I love flowers and I love food! I wanted the desert table to be pretty, but most importantly, delicious! I opted out of fondant and went straight for amazing tasting cakes with buttercream frosting. As for the flowers, it was most important to me to not fight the seasons. Flowers out of season never look their best and always seem out of place. I was going for an earthy, garden feel because I love the look and I thought it went great with a fall wedding. We added some white pumpkins into the floral arrangements with monogram Ps on them for Park. We made those ourselves. We bought all the pumpkins that Michael’s had, painted them white, and stuck the vinyl lettering on them. My father, Calvin Stinger, is a professional artist and supplied all of the amazing bronze sculptures as table pieces. It added a great touch to the feel of the room and colors of the wedding. It really was the perfect wedding. We had an amazingly fun time. I think the most important thing is that we didn’t fight the season, we found great and artistic professionals that understood what we wanted and we rolled with the punches knowing that there would be a hiccup here or there.

It was the most amazing day of my life. I knew that as the bride, I was to expect a certain level of chaos. But I made it a point to take moments in between the hugging and greeting and chatting just to take a look around. I wanted to remember what the day looked like and felt like…and also look at the handsome man I just married!
The sparklers as we left the reception was a highlight for both of us. It was just so much fun!

Elegant Pastel Wedding

Citing inspiration from the season’s latest color trend, our next wedding is surely to inspire all you spring brides. This elegant pastel wedding was held in South Africa, just outside Nelspruit in the low veld, near the Kruger National Park Gate.

We are head over heels for the soft and flowy bridesmaid dresses, the flower sash on the bride and all the pastel wedding florals. What do you love most?  All beautifully captured by South African wedding photographer Rensche Marie Photography. There really are so many more beautiful photographs in the full wedding gallery. Click here to see them all.

From The Bride:

My inspiration – Initially when my fiancé and I discussed our wedding “theme” we decided that we did not want to be boxed in by a specific theme, color style or rhythm. We wanted the wedding to shine timeless charm with a slight edge to it. Our wedding stationery was inspired by the Magnolia venue (floral wallpaper) and the colours we decided to work with were dove grey and turquoise with a touch of pink.

Since we got married in early October it made sense to focus on a spring floral table set-up complimented by a lot of candle light. The venue allowed for an open plan lay-out  with some of our guests seated on the patio overlooking the beautiful view of the Lowveld.  My mother, sister and aunt stumbled on the bridesmaids dresses shopping one morning and after sending me a picture we knew that nothing else would have looked better than these fabulous airy floral dresses from Forever New.  We had the absolute best florist and after meeting with her and advising on the look of the bridesmaids dresses she immediately understood what we were trying to create on our day,  she sourced the absolute best and most beautiful flowers available during season.

To fit into the timeless charm  I wanted my wedding dress to be classic, comfortable but still show people who I am, we had a traditional church wedding and I knew that my back would be towards our guests the  moment I reached the altar and wanted to make use of the opportunity to display the floral detail on the back of my dress. We used the same floral brooches from the dress in my hair, which complimented the “floral” theme beautifully…

Our wedding day was out of this world with the best weather we could ever have wished for, the food and wine was delicious the band kept guests on their feet until the early hours of the morning and my brand new  hubby and I partied until the very last guest left. It was a dream come true. Of course it helped to have such reliable suppliers and close family and friends helping us with all arrangements, allowing for such a stress free wedding day.

Intimate Beach Wedding Ideas

For all of you looking to have a romantic seaside wedding that’s chic and rustic we have the perfect inspirational shoot for you. Dreamed up by Poppy Love Weddings and captured by one of our Hand-Picked wedding vendors White Loft Studio on the Plum Island Sound.

Lucky for us, Poppy Love Weddings shares key ingredients to replicating something as dreamy as this for your own intimate beach wedding. To see more images perfect for pinning click here.

From: Poppy Love Weddings on Intimate Beach Wedding Ideas

The ceremony area was my favorite part of the set up. It was purposefully kept bare and simple – marked by a modern lucite console table with large rustic wicker spheres (also from West Elm). Here is where I incorporated the canvas flags and added the vintage style glass ring box, adorned with a sweet banner that read “love & cherish”.

I wanted to create an inviting combination of beach rustic plus seaside elegance. I brought in subtle boating elements, like the canvas covered wine bottles, petite canvas flags, and woven components like the wicker spheres. I used indigo as my anchor color and as soon as I laid eyes upon the David Stark Brush Stroke dinnerware at West Elm, I knew it was the perfect fit. To soften the look, I incorporated soft romantic blooms in a *quiet riot* of pink and peach hues set into perforated metal containers for the floral centerpieces. I layered fabrics, included driftwood-type bench seating, and added comfy nautical print pillows.

A key ingredient of my design aesthetic is the mixture of high and low pieces. Because I focused most of my budget dollars on the impact of the place settings, I had to get creative with the other tabletop details. I found the batik print table runner in the half-off section of the Jo-Ann fabric store and was able to scoop it up for peanuts. Of course a trip to the craft store was in order, where I grabbed a few small wicker balls from the floral department and was inspired by the all the color and texture in the knitting department. I carried the pale aqua blue yarn detail throughout the design – wrapping simple glass votive holders with it along with tying the wedding bands together and it even made for the prettiest of bouquet wraps in lieu of ribbon!

The cake was dreamt up by Heidi and beautifully executed by Hilary of Eat Cake!! – a single-tiered cake of layered ombre ruffles. The complex yet airy ruffled design lends to the ethereal look of the day.

Poppy Love Weddings for mastering a harmonized look:

- Seek out what you love, choose subtle elements that convey those feelings and repeat them throughout
your décor.

- Don’t be afraid to mix prints and textures. Dressing a table is like putting an outfit together; excessive
matching is always tres boring!

-When meeting with your floral designer, focus your efforts in conveying your color and shape
preferences. Becoming too specific with exact blooms and shades can hinder the designer and the
completed design.

- Forget perfection! Instead aim for authenticity – there’s nothing worse then an over-produced event that
over shadows the true meaning of the day.

Santa Barbara Historical Museum Wedding

This is our last wedding before Christmas and we thought we would leave you with a really beautiful wedding from Braedon Flynn Photography.  A black and white stylish affair held at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.

The entire event is positively chic without even trying. The bride goes into more detail about the venue, special moments and how she create a vintage look for less that you must read. Be sure to see all of the beautiful images in the full gallery by clicking here.

From the bride, Megan

The morning of the wedding, as I was getting ready with all the girls in the hotel room, we got a knock on the door. It was Dave’s brothers and they had a gift for me that they brought that was from Dave & Dave’s family. Dave’s mom, Lucy, had a cross necklace made for me as a wedding gift; it was a replica of a cross necklace, that she has had in her family for years. It was so special to her to be able to pass this on to the her “new daughter” as a way to welcome me to their family. It was a gold cross with pearls and a green precious stone in the middle. It was so special to me to be given something so beautiful and something that has such meaning. Unbeknownst to Lucy, I had borrowed a vintage family bracelet and earrings from my grandmother to wear for the wedding. Pearl earrings and a vintage green emerald bracelet. When I paired all three together and put them all on with my dress, the combo of all three was perfect. It meant the world to me to be wearing such beautiful pieces that came from both my family and my new family.

Walking down the aisle with my dad was another one of my favorite moments. My parent’s toast to us was also incredible. Having been married for 35 years, they gave us words of wisdom, advice and told such great stories. Every guest came up to my parents to thank them that night and that meant so much to us.

Once we met with our florist Kim, from Toast Santa Barbara and we chose all of our white flowers (hydrangeas, garden & polo roses, anemones, white veronica, etc. , we realized that we could save a lot of money by providing our own flower containers. We began collecting all of our flower containers… vintage mason jars, vintage milk bottles, small glass jam jars (peeled labels off), french lemonade bottles from Trader Joes, Starbucks Frappuccino bottles (labels off)… literally anything in a glass jar that I found in my kitchen, I examined to see if I could use it as a flower jar…When it all came together on our long banquet tables, I really loved the look of all the different shapes and sizes of the glass bottles as our floral centerpieces. Such an easy way to save some money & create a vintage look for less.

For the ceremony aisle (and along the entire length of the grape pergola) we envisioned hanging mason jars hung with twine filled with white flowers, succulents and greenery next to hanging jars with lit candles. We rented 2 wine barrels to be the focal point at the end of the aisle and covered them with a lush spread of hydrangeas, succulents and candles.

DANCING! Our band and our DJ were INSANE. They played back and forth all night long. The best thing you could ever wish for when throwing a great party, is that the dance floor never be empty. The dance floor was never NOT FULL.

Red, Black And White Wedding Ideas

If you are a little bid edgy and love lace, this might be the perfect inspirational shoot for you. Styled by Very Merry Events with Latin romanticism in mind along with a color palette of red, black and white.

The bride wore there different Watters gowns to transform her from daytime sweetness to evening glamor. Each look had a little black lace in it to keep the theme flowing. It might be hard to get three wedding gowns, but we love the idea of slipping into a party dress for the reception. You can see more Red Black And White Wedding Ideas in the full gallery. All of this wedding glamour was captured by Lilia Ahner.

The invitations were in both English and Spanish to give a nod to Latin romanticism. Always a lovely gesture if you are having a mulch-cultural wedding. To keep the red, black and white theme the flower arrangements were placed in bright white milk-glass bottles. Using only white and red flowers in all the arrangements.

Marie Antoinette Bridal Session

Who doesn’t love Sofia Coppola’s, Marie Antoinette? The retelling of France’s iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette, was such a thrilling, colorful and amazing film that brings out creativity in us all. We love seeing interpretations of the film.

They are all different, and all over the top. Just as our next Marie Antoinette Bridal Session is from Chelsea Nicole Photography. Instead of 18th century Versailles, they chose a dry lakebed in Las Vegas. A complete opposite location, but still visually stunning. Complete with gorgeous floral arrangements, lace, jewel and of course some Macarons. See more all the photos by clicking here.

Simple Brooklyn Wedding

Blair and Rie got married for the third and final time at St. Valentino Pier in Red Hook Brooklyn. No – its not what it sounds like … they actually were legally wed at City Hall in NYC last year, followed by a traditional Japanese ceremony in Japan earlier this year – this was the party for the American crew. This Simple Brooklyn wedding was captured by Oh, Darling. You can see more of this New York wedding in the full gallery by clicking here.

Here are some words from the bride:
“We were very lucky to have some talented friends help us out. Our wedding invitations were designed and printed by our friend Michael. The wedding cake was created by my friend Yoshie, who is a professional pastry chef. I especially want to thank to Kyoko, who is my best friend from high school. She made the bouquet, boutonnieres, and all the flowers at the tables.

She and her boyfriend Ben run a small business producing the sugar boxes that we chose as our wedding favors (www.etsy.com/shop/MadebyaManandaWoman). I can not imagine our wedding without her! Kyoko and I went to flower district in the city two days before the wedding, and bought a bunch of flowers. We saved a lot of money doing that by ourselves. I found a beautiful vintage lace ribbon at Brooklyn Flea, and wrapped it around the bouquet.

The animal puppets were bought on Etsy and used in place of table numbers. We created the seating chart by scanning in the drawings of the animals included on their packaging. Then printed them out on shipping tags we got from Staples. We soaked them in coffee to add a bit of an aged feel to them. We were preparing our wedding right through the night before our wedding day. It’s now a good memory, but we actually went to Kinko’s late the night before the wedding to finish things up!”

Preppy Pink And Navy Wedding

Our next couple had been together eight years before their wedding. They didn’t want their wedding to feel like their parents party, but they also did not want the wedding to feel like a beginning… like they were starting their lives together. Instead, they wanted their guests to feel as though the entire weekend was a celebration of a bond that they had grown and nurtured over the past eight years and would continue to grow and nurture. Read on to hear some pretty fabulous tips from the bride.

Enjoy more Preppy Pink And Navy Wedding from one of our absoulte favorite Midwest Weddding Photographer Emily Emily Steffen Photography.

Read this is is pretty awesome:

On August 20, 2010, one year before our wedding, I was looking at one of the blogs I follow and I saw a wedding where the bride and groom wrote their vows together. At their ceremony the bride said one line of their vows and the groom said the next and they went back and forth until the vows were over. And when the vows were over they asked each other if they vowed to be the others husband and wife. I had never met these people but I was crying in my office at work after hearing their vows. It was so moving. I went home, showed Scott and he instantly agreed. We wrote our vows that same night . . . a year before our wedding. Our entire wedding weekend was every thing we could have hoped for–the Twin Cities had absolutely perfect weather, everyone was smiling and laughing, and we felt so incredibly loved.

From The Bride on her inspiration and diy projects.

With wedding blogs for inspiration, I set out to make our one of a kind wedding. I have always been the type of person that refuses to pay someone to do something I can do myself, so a few months before the wedding I made the cornhole boards, thank you place cards, moss letters, lavender hand soaps, and welcome bags. When my Maid of Honor arrived from LA the week of the wedding, we made the bouquets, centerpieces, and table card windows. However, none of the details would have been pulled off without our week of coordinator, Lora from At Your Service Weddings. I loved being a do-it-yourself Bride, but I loved even more that on the day of my wedding I could just enjoy every moment and not worry about a thing.

When the time came to plan our wedding, we knew we wanted it to be timeless and classic, but not traditional, with a dash of good old Southern Hospitality all the way up in Minnesota. Eighty percent of our guest list was flying in for the wedding and we did not want them to worry about a thing. We rented a charter bus to take them to and from the wedding, and when they arrived at the boat club they were immediately handed either a Mint Julep or a John Daly and an Hors d’oeuvre as they waited for the ceremony.

We love the idea of keeping the Mason jar as a wedding favor. Not only do they get to use it at the wedding, but every time guests use it they will remember your special day.

They also used them as colorful centerpieces mixed in with citrus fruit. Each one of these pinwheels was made with love by the bride’s father. To see more of this pinwheel wedding click here.

Classic Wedding Ideas

Adam and Ashley were together for over eight years, so needless to say, she has been dreaming about their wedding together for quite some time. She has changed her mind as often as the wedding trends have changed. So, when the time finally came to actually plan their dream wedding, they both agreed that they wanted a romantic, timeless classic wedding.

Read on to hear more from Ashley and to see more classic wedding ideas visit the full gallery. All of this prettiness was photographed by Austin Gros.

From Ashley:

We knew from the get go that our wedding was going to be on a budget and lots of DIY projects, but not a detail left out! The ceremony site was the first decision we made… Ault Park Rose Garden. The garden is so beautiful that no decor was needed and along with the beautiful music my brother William played, it made the perfect setting for our wedding. Then we found the location of the reception, The Carnegie Event Center. The Carnegie was an old library and had so much charm. It was just the perfect size for our 90 guests and I loved all the original historic detail it had to offer. I started going to local thrift stores and collecting glass vases and wood picture frames. The signs and menus I just made on my computer. We bought the flowers wholesale and two days before the wedding, with the help of my wonderful family and bridal party, we made all the flower arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres and decorated. I wanted a very whimsical and romantic feel with the flowers and decor. Everything was ivory with gold or wood accents and lots of candles. Being from Texas, I wanted to bring a little of that to our Ohio wedding. The food had a Mexican flare to it and my dad had Dr. Pepper shipped up from the Dublin, TX factory where they still use pure sugar cane and package in glass bottles to give as our favors!! The reception was a blast and we danced the night away with our friends and family!

I found our amazing photographer Austin Gros after hours of searching wedding blogs, and was the searching ever worth it! Austin truly captured what a special day it was for us and we will always be able to remember the special moments of our wedding day looking through these photos for years to come.

Benj Haisch Photography

Benj Haisch Photography shared with us this Pacific Northwest wedding with super cute stationery that the bride designed herself. The groom is a musician and songwriter, so many of the flowers were made of lyrics from his sheet music, even the flowers that the girls threw down the aisle so Erin could walk down to his words. Adorable, right? Love the images of the groom singing to his new bride; so touching. Of course there are so many more images from Benj in the full wedding gallery.

The simple elegance of our next wedding takes our breath away from Hugh Forte. This elegant wedding was held at The Villa in San Juan Capistrano. Sounds as beautiful as it actually looks. Of course there are so many more lovely images to swoon over in the full gallery.

Lakeside Chic Wedding From Ryan Ray Photography

A simple and elegant Lakeside wedding from one of our favorite The Hand-Picked Vendors wedding vendors Ryan Ray. He is the most charming Texas photographer and we just adore him. Enough gushing, let’s get back to the wedding, it has all the glamour & style of a big city wedding with the quaintness & comfort of the the piney woods of East Texas.

A few snippets that we would like to share are that the bridal party was encouraged to wear their own choice of shoes and statement jewelry so that they could feel unique and comfortable, and the typical bouquets were swapped for custom over-sized clutches, each adorned with a feather brooch. Be sure to see the entire gallery by clicking here.

Ryan Ray is one of our exclusive The Hand-Picked Vendors.  Hand-Picked Vendors are at the top of their game and provide excellent services! Our picks were chosen because of their commitment to excellence, stylish and fresh ideas, and their overall fresh approach to weddings. Black Tie Boston Wedding

A perfectly lovely Jamaica Plain’s wedding held at the historic Loring-Greenough House. You might want to take note of a few steal-worthy ideas. One being the vintage hankies used as a wedding invitation and later thoughtfully framed. A perfect keepsake.

To see more images from this black tie affair with a vintage vibe, be sure to click here. Captured by Tyra Bleek Photography. Do share with us how much you are in love with the ombre cake. Amazing right?

It is becoming a popular tradition to use vintage typewriters as an alternative to your traditional guest book. Guests get involved and you also have a lovely little decor piece for your new home. Hopefully this trend does not fall out of fashion. We are curious to see what you think about it?

Dogs truly are part of your family and it is always lovely when couples incorporate them into their weddings. Our next couple placed their pooch’s face on homemade beer bottles. Making him the official spokesperson of the wedding. A definite steal-worthy idea.

Speaking of ideas, we also love that they wrote out all the beverages they will be serving on a chalkboard. A clever alternative to an open bar and a bit more cost effective.

Black Aves Dinnerwear By David Pressman Events

An Associate Member of the Royal Academy of Needlework, Sybil Francis was one of the first needlewomen in England. In the 1930′s, she embroidered a pillow that was translated into a copper print engraving and the first Aves dinnerware was produced. Black Aves with Gold was created at Gump’s request and launched as an exclusive for the store in 1987. A monochrome design with 22kt gold edges, the pattern represents the birds of paradise and was originally inspired by silk embroidery.

David Pressman Events designed an entire table around this iconic dinner wear. Complete with fancy lettering by Soolip and one stunning floral centerpiece by Krista Jon. To see the entire shoot by Aaron Delesie be sure to click here.

Vibrant Yellow and Orange Wedding

Another fun element that showcased Libby and Chris’s fun and playful personalities was the ring bearer. Libby surprised Chris with an actual bear, well not a real bear. (: One of his friends dressed head to toe in a bear costume! The groom and crowd were surprised and showed it bouts of laughter!

Sarah and Steve envisioned a fresh and elegant springtime wedding dressed in cheery canary yellow and steely gray. Elegant Peach Wedding Ideas

Britt wanted her wedding to be classic and elegant with a vintage feel and that relaxed Santa Barbara mood. In order to help fulfill her vision, she enlisted family and friends, and of course, one of our favorite coordinators, Merryl Brown Events. With their help, she was able to achieve this lovely peach Santa Barbara wedding, captured with beauty and grace by Jessica Lewis Photography.

Read on to find out more details from Britt below and of course there are so many more elegant peach wedding ideas to see. Click here to view the entire gallery.

From the bride, Britt:

“I designed the books on the table, but they were put together by Maggie Hammer in IL, who is a friend of my mom. The guests’ escort cards each had a place on them in lieu of a table number. If their card said ‘San Remy’ then the book at their table was ‘San Remy’. Each book had a write up of a different place Roni and I had been together. I also wanted to have pictures of the different places in the books. Each book also contained questions for the guests to fill out, for example, ‘What is one book that Britt should read and one that Roni should read?’ I wanted my wedding to be very personal. I also wanted to have lasting memories; so many people had told me that your wedding night flies by and it was very hard to remember. I wanted to have peoples thoughts and memories from my wedding forever. I chose fabric over ribbon to tie the books together with because fabric frays. I wanted the books to have a vintage feel and frayed fabric helped to do that. The fabric was tied in big bows to give it a girly feel.

“One of my bridesmaids is an artist and drew out birds that were printed onto mugs that I used for wedding favors. She also drew the peony that was used on the escort cards. I wanted my wedding to be as personal as possible, so I did all that I could myself and what I couldn’t do (like drawing) I had my close friends and family do. More than anything I really wanted my wedding to be memorable and fun.”

Classic Peach Wedding Ideas

Be Inspired PR shared with us Kristy Rice of Momental Designs 10 year anniversary. This big renewal bash that was an eclectic mix of vintage finds and artful details. From depression glass centerpieces to hand painted western novel invitations and a Sylvia Weinstock Cake inspired by Kristy’s artwork, the couple infused every last corner of the 1800′s Victorian summer home with details that spoke of their personality and life together. Read on to learn more details.

Be sure to see the entire gallery of this lovely day by clicking here

THE INVITATIONS: After a magical time in Zion National Park renewing our vows we could hardly wait for the big party in Pennsylvania to celebrate with those who were unable to travel. Bringing a touch of the southwest to our party in PA was really important, so when I found this collection of Zane Grey Novels I knew I had to include them somehow.

Zane Grey was a prolific western adventure author who spent the later years of his life in Pennsylvania. The historical landmark that once was his home is 45 minutes from ours! The symbolism was perfect; western writer who spends his later years near our hometown. And the price wasn’t too shabby either; only $0.65 per book at a local vintage shop!

Betsy Dunlap’s work has been present throughout our renewal invitations and save the dates so I saw it fitting to have her create an image that I could have turned into a rubber stamp. I knew hand painting 75 books would be a chore but didn’t want to make it an impossible task. Betsy penned a frame of text that repeated the words “Kristy and Adam 10 Years.” I then imposed one of my Cosmo illustrations and sent the image off to a stamp maker. White acrylic was brushed onto the stamp and voila, our altered book invitations were begun!

Each bloom was then painted with various color inks; four shades of orange and red, a touch of gold, and three shades of green. Rich, heavy strokes of color were added to each bloom to contrast the rough, water-stained shape the books were in when we found them. Black velvet ribbon acted as a simple bookmark to discover the page in the book where the actual invitation was adhered. Betsy also created the calligraphy for the kraft paper address labels, which were adhered to boxes that contained the party invitation and Zane Grey novels.

The couple was married at Alexa’s family farm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago where not only her parents were married, but her two sisters as well. The farm is full of the family’s precious antiques and heirlooms, and nostalgia lingers in the air. They chose the 39th anniversary of Alexa’s parents, June 26th to wed. They tied the knot in the same small church as her parents and sisters before riding in her grandmother’s Rolls Royce to the family farm. Classic Malibu Wedding

Michelle & Barrett had a relaxed wedding at The Adamson House in Malibu. Michelle was inspired by a small vignette of succulents, shells and crystallized rock that they placed on their head table. They brought in the laid back and relaxed feeling of the beach with turquoise & purple accents, a lounge for guests to relax and flowing organic florals. Barrett & Michelle took on quite a bit on their own. Barrett handmade all of the beer at their home. Michelle handmade grapefruit liquor from the grapefruit tree at their newly purchased home. The labels, coordinating with the rest of the paper materials, fit the theme perfectly. As they are both from the east coast, they really wanted all of their out of town guests to feel comfortable. To have fun. To be able to relax. It was the perfect event for just that. Relaxed. Fun.

San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf Wedding

Monica and Patrick were married at The Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco. The original 1907 style architecture still embodies elements of the nautical history of San Francisco in its heyday, its plush, stylish decor nestles guests in an accommodating, stimulating environment that is both modern and comforting. Since Patrick went to the Maritime academy, it only made sense to update the style of the wedding to nautical theme with vintage flair.

Monica daunted a flirty tea length Melissa Sweet Dress along with a pair of satin navy blue peep toe pumps. Love the tea length gown it looks adorable on her don’t you think? Captured by Larissa Cleveland Photography.

A Beyond Stylish Orange County Wedding

Honestly we really cannot gush enough about Hugh Forte Photography! His work is beyond stylish thus the reason why he snags up some of the chicest weddings around. Without a doubt our next wedding is no exception, filled to the brim with elements of the past, whimsical florals and pastel details. Josh and Marci’s Orange County wedding is sure to inspire.

Read on to find out how Marci and Josh’s wedding came to life.

From The Bride on her wedding details!

Inspiration for our wedding came after I found my dress; Blair Britt (our wedding coordinator) and I completely fell in love with the vintage lace look of the dress, and knew we would take advantage of the vintage look throughout the wedding. Josh had no idea what my dress looked like, but liked the colors and theme we proposed. Once we picked the theme of our wedding, we knew we immediately wanted to go with Hugh Forte Photography. His style of photography worked so well with our desired theme.

We had a wonderful time collecting different vases and going to antique stores; however, our true excitement came when Blair Britt found a vintage desk at an antique store that she refurbished for us to use as for our dessert table. We painted it white, and it really set the stage for the cake and dessert (all made by Jay’s Catering). Josh and I also wanted a backdrop for our dessert table, so Blair came up with the idea of making a ribbon backdrop.

Our florists Jayne used about 5 vases/jars at every table. Each table was unique in that we didn’t have a uniform look, but instead put together various combination of jars for the tables. Joie De Vie (the jewelry and paper good company owned/operated by Blair Britt) put together all of the paper goods and bridal/bridesmaid jewelry at our wedding. It was great to maintain the same theme throughout our rsvps, invitations, menus, programs, fans, etc.

The highlight of our wedding was the same day ceremony video footage that was created by Tom O’Hara and Matthew Forrey from Aqua Vivus Productions. They surprised us by creating a quick edit of the ceremony to be played at the reception; it is the one part of our wedding that our guests can’t stop talking about.

Eco-Friendly Wedding Celebration

Theresa and Giovanni wanted their wedding to be a family-centric and eco-friendly celebration, and we worked together to make it just that! Theresa’s family is largely from Iowa, while Giovanni’s is from Italy; so this wedding was such a fun fusion of cultures. They even hired an Italian DJ/emcee so that he could translate the ceremony into Italian for Giovanni’s family.

The venue was the garden of a private home in the San Fernando Valley owned by the founder/executive chef of Savor Solar Catering, Susan Rigali. Susan is an organic caterer with many years of experience in eco-conscious catering. She grows her own produce on the property and uses a huge solar-powered oven to prepare her delicious meals. Wedding guests dined alfresco at long feasting tables in the garden, enjoying an Italian-inspired feast prepared by Susan (who also happens to be Italian!).

Thanks to Katy Carrier Events for sharing this eco friendly wedding with us and Benjamin Lowry Photography for capturing this lovely wedding.

Palm Springs Wedding At The O’Donnell House

Anna and Brandon live in snowy Canada and wanted to have a wedding filled with sunshine. The obvious choice would be Palm Springs, where the sun is rarely shy and the skies are always blue.

They settled on The O’Donnell House for their wedding venue. What makes The O’Donnell House a little different than a boutique hotel is that offer two different large houses that you can stay in and hold your wedding and reception. Nestled against a mountainside in the heart of Old Palm Springs Village, this makes a more intimate desert wedding. Thanks to JAC Photography for sharing this desert wedding with us. Take note of all the exquisite flower designed by Luna Salomon. We especially love the anemone wedding bouquet and birch trees used as vases. Everything is simple yet elegant.

San Francisco Cosmopolitan Wedding

Michelle & Abdulla had a modern wedding in San Francisco, California at the DeYoung Museum The overall colors were the base of champagne and cream hues with bold, contrasting accents of chocolate brown and deep aubergine-plum, a rich pallet that was inspired by the exterior facade of the DeYoung Museum structure itself. A fun fact about these traveling love birds – they have relocated to Abu Dhabi.

DIY Texas Wedding

Our next Texas wedding was dubbed the, “Macho,” wedding by the bride and groom. A combination of the bride and groom’s names, Tiffany Ma and Danny Cho. How cute is that? Basically everything you see here was hand made by the bride. Hours and hours of love and preparation went into making all the little wedding goodies. The cake topper took her 5 hours to hand paint. Another great idea that we thought you would love was their centerpieces. Each table had a small postcard with descriptions of their travel adventures together.

This DIY extravaganza was captured by Texas wedding photographer Love Lee Photography! We had the pleasure of meeting Margaret at our last Stylelab workshop. To see some of that nautical goodness you can click here.

Old Hollywood Glamorous Wedding

Aaron Shintaku shared with us this old Hollywood inspired wedding. Drawing inspiration from movies like Aviator and Pearl Harbor this vintage themed wedding truly was a masterpiece.

Andrea and David had this classy affair at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. An exceptionally perfect venue for a vintage themed wedding. It has been the premier choice for celebrities, presidents and dignitaries for over 85 years. The entire wedding from start to finish had a classic feel. As a wedding gift David gave Andrea an exquisite pearl necklace from Chanel. It really does not get more classic than that!

It is so lovely when everyone is involved in the celebration.

The Parker Palm Springs

We hope that everyone is having a beautiful spring day!

Thanks for sticking around to see the follow up on Diana and Andy’s modern reception at the ohh so stylish Parker in Palm Springs, California.

You can see their surprise courthouse wedding here. All of this wedding goodness was brought to us by the ever so talented Laguna Beach wedding photographer Barber Photography!

Read on to see how this Orange County couple made this jazzy day possible.

All from Diana the bride.

The majority of the guests thought they were attending a very intimate party celebrating our relationship, the other half thought we were going to do a secret commitment ceremony.

Overall, they knew it was going to be party, but to what extent they had no idea. (Andy was very adamant about not getting married so people were thrown off….But knew we would do something in celebration of us and our family). The two flanked flat screens playing our slide-show surprised all! Which shared the surprise of the court house ceremony in the form of a slide show.

I took a more glamorous, old Hollywood look for the Palm Springs wedding reception based on my surroundings at the Parker in Palm Springs and the fun nature of our party. Two different days = Two different looks.
Our reception party food ranged from mini ahi-tuna tartar tacos as passed hor d’ouvres to mini-cheesecake, Doughnut holes and churros for dessert. The Parker did it all!

Devynns Garden created these stylish welcome/take home gifts-mini succulent potted plants with black rocks. The ribbon that is tied around the pots is the same ribbon that was used in the bouquet for the courthouse wedding. Love that!

Orange County Courthouse Wedding

Before you start peeking at our next real wedding, note that there will be more of this modern goodness. Thanks to Laguna Beach Wedding Photographer, Barber Photography.

We will begin with the secret courthouse wedding of Diana and Andy who both love surprises. Read on to hear the entire story. Which in fact is quite a nice read that I am sure you will enjoy. Diana and Andy are both in the digital world as well. Andy owns his own online marketing company, ADISN and Diana has an amazing blog called tbwap.

From Diana, the bride.

We love surprises, that is why we did this event the way we did, it all worked out once we realized The Parker was available the weekend of Thanksgiving, since we met 5 years ago that same holiday weekend. We planned our 2-day day event/surprise one night in June over a beer and a glass of wine. We picked out colors, ideas, looks and began reaching out to vendors we knew and liked from past experience.

Day One- Secret courthouse wedding at the Historic Santa Ana court house. We were married on our 5 year anniversary date; Tuesday November 24th.

My bouquet was designed by Devynns Garden which is in Huntington Harbor. I took a huge risk asking for fuchsia peonies this time of the year, since it is very rare for them to be in bloom. I had ordered the black and white striped ribbon to keep it modern and fun and would tie in with our whole look.

Our son was a big part of both events. Oliver Henry, at the time just turned 2, was a huge part of our day. We wanted him to be involved with the documenting of our day at the courthouse, since it was intimate and special to our little family.

We wanted to keep him looking cool and casual, very California and our style so we dressed him in a Stella McCartney for Baby Gap skinny jeans and tuxedo blazer, a Jacadi collared shirt with Vans checker slip-ons to match dad’s shoes.

My dress is by Priscilla of Boston the Platinum line and my shoes are Louis Vuitton. I had removed the beaded belt and had a custom black tiered tie belt created to get more of a Alice in Wonderland meets Audrey Hepburn feel. I did two very different looks for my 2-day event. My wedding day, I stuck with an au natural bridal look, very clean. Stay tuned for the reception look and feel.

Andy’s suit is a Hugo Boss with euro cut and the tie is by Jon Varvatos

Chandra and Kevin had a luncheon reception at the Viceroy Santa Monica in Santa Monica, CA. The reception was planned as a luncheon to be slim on wedding tradition and big on their families getting to know each other in a relaxed yet stylish seaside setting.

Read on to hear more of the delicious details from the bride.

Gift Bags: Individual Chocolate Lab truffles by Moonstruck Chocolates; refrigerator magnet featuring a portrait of the couple and Daley (we are assuming their pupp) by artist Todd Bratrud, and Moleskine. Along with notebooks that had a cute with personalized stamp.

How fabulous does Kevin look? He wore a Brooks Brothers’ Black Fleece collaboration with Thom Browne.

Classic Laguna Beach Wedding

The Wedding Chicks Love Laguna Beach, California. So when Onelove Photography sent us Julie and Nash’s classic wedding we wanted to share with you a bit of Laguna’s beauty.

Julie and Nash are Orange County natives they have actually known each other since high school, but started dating in college. They both live in Laguna Niguel and were married at Laguna Beach Presbyterian Church. The love birds and their wedding party sailed on their family sailboat into the reception at Dana Point! It was quite an entrance. The wedding was simple and elegant.

Julie was a do-it-yourself bride and did everything including the floral arrangements! She is a florist and was up all night before the wedding prepping all the beautiful bouquets and centerpieces. Talk about serious dedication!

Stylish New York Loft Wedding

Let’s get this party started with a super fly fresh NYC wedding from Angelica Glass.

We recently met Angelica Glass at WPPI and she was the definition of awesome. She was dancing the night away and basically pure fun. Kinda like our next wedding. So, long story short is Angelica did not write a whole lot about their wedding so I kinda sneaked around and found their wedding web site and basically I am know officially in love with Tamar and Matt and wish I was able to attend their wedding.

Our wedding will begin with a cocktail hour, followed by the ceremony, followed by a cocktail-party style reception. Lots of spirited spirits, dancing, and yes, there will be definitely be LOTS of food. We’re just not opting for a sit-down/seating chart-style dinner. Why? Because we know a lot of you are total boozebags, because dancing at a party is more fun than sitting. (And if you’ve met Matt, he doesn’t really sit around much.)

Weddings are real life and they reflect the couple and Tamar and Matt they are just keeping it real. On to the wedding!

All that is delicious will continue so stay tuned for more of Matt & Tamar’s Real New York Wedding.
