The Wedding Chicks

After spending the last few years living in the groom’s native UK, Jessica and James decided to tie the knot in the bride’s home country of the USA. Couture Events helped make this international couple’s dream destination wedding a reality at La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, California. With bright colors and touches of citrus, this beautiful event showed the Californian coast at it’s finest.

On the Venue:
La Valencia Hotel is located along the Pacific Coast in the renowned village of La Jolla, California. Lush tropical gardens, gorgeous Spanish mosaics and beautiful ocean views create the perfect setting for your wedding day celebrations, bridal showers and rehearsal dinners. From Couture Events:
Bright and beautiful, this couple wanted a wedding filled with color. We used citrus (peaches, oranges, lemons), florals and succulents to bring their vision to life. Our favorite details included the moss and succulent escort card wall glowing with candles and the citrus we used in and around the arrangements and down the aisle to create a fresh style and look. Another favorite was the ombre macaroon favors — we love the idea of doing a favor that your guests can eat and enjoy, that is colorful and fun and adds a beautiful aesthetic to the tablescape.

How gorgeous is this gold cake, it looks absolutely marvelous on top of the gold sparkly table cloth. Couture Events did an uhh-amazing job of putting together an elegant and fun day at La Valencia Hotel.

Sammy and Nathan wanted their wedding to be a casual affair. “Pretty, but not fussy, with a lot of dancing.” One of our favorite touches was that Sammy carried a locket with her mother’s photo in her bouquet, since her mother passed away of cancer only a year before her wedding.

Murray Hill is a breathtaking property situated on a bluff on the Potomac River. You are able to have your ceremony and cocktail hour on the bluff outside and your reception in the recently restored barn, that is absolutely beautiful.This  fifty-seven acre estate provides tranquility and the natural beauty of the setting makes even the simplest event exceptional. You simply must check out this Virginia wedding venue.

While most brides I know spend hours per day flipping through Pinterest for wedding day inspiration, Sammy just spent time daydreaming about being Nathan’s wife. When it came time to decide on color palattes and a “theme” for their wedding day, her only request was that it be reflecting of who they are, and that it incorporate a lot of color and LIFE. Just as they had hoped, their wedding was truly a reflection of their personalities. The flowers and centerpieces were beautiful, but not fussy.

Nathan is an avid outdoorsman, and loves nothing more than chopping wood to make a fire with. So they incorporated bits of wood (chopped by Nathan, of course) and tree stumps carved with initials in their decor. Their toasts were made with coke bottles, (their favorite drink) rather than champagne (although they did serve champagne later.) The entire day was completely lovely, and very “them.”

On a clear December day Patty and Beau exchanged vows while surrounded by friends and family at the FFA Leadership Training Center in Winter Haven, FL. Thanks to the expertise of event designer and coordinator Smitten Events the camp was transformed into a venue of rustic elegance that radiated whimsical charm with lace-meets-burlap decor and beautiful florals by Lasater Flowers.

The FFA Leadership Training Center is such a cool venue – it’s basically like grown-up camp, where all the guests and members of the bridal party stayed in “cabins” (more like nicely appointed little camping houses). We arrived to find Patty and her girls in a flurry of hair, makeup and mimosas, while the guys (including the six year old, adorable son of the bride and groom) relaxed and got ready in a cabin nearby.

Surrounded by shades of pink and the fresh outdoors, the bride was escorted down the aisle to her high school sweetheart by their son. With the Father of the Bride acting as the officiant this wedding was a true family affair!

Vintage decorations were used throughout the outdoor reception. Pastel tinted canning jars with lace accents holding beautiful flowers and battery-powered twinkle lights created a fairy-like whimsy while touches of burlap and wood tied in the rustic surroundings.

No detail was forgotten, and as a photographer, this wedding was a real treat to capture — between the gorgeous, rustic surroundings, the delicate burlap-and-lace-meets-woodsy-wilderness decor, and of course an absolutely adorable and sweet couple, head over heels in love, it just couldn’t get any better.
